Meh, I'm going through a horrible reality check. I know I've mentioned this before, but I do need to get this off of my chest whenever something new happens:
- Last year, I had just two classmates in the core disciplines at university. One of them was there by accident, really, and classes couldn't go on because he always "stopped" the classes. I then decided to study more often at home and, as I could be absent for 7 days, I decided not to show up in 6 different days.
However, I had an A+ by the end of the semester, and that's how my problems began.
- The chairwoman of my department then decided I wasn't humble, and that I thought I was too good for having classes. She started badmouthing me to other students... during class! I've seen her doing it plenty of times, but I never thought it would happen to me as well.
- She then decided not to "redirect" a scholarship the professors meant to grant me.
- This semester, I had to take a discipline with her, and I've got just one classmate this time. Thursday, neither my classmate, nor my professor showed up (I actually posted a thread about it). I waited for 30 minutes and went home.
- Today there was a teacher's meeting, and they were complaining about how students needed to be more autonomous, and study more than what they're told to. The aforementioned chairwoman then mentions me as an example because I didn't wait her for an hour. And, incredibly, I'm taking twice more disciplines than I had to, so I'm certainly doing more than I should.
What the hell? Why is this woman trying to ruin my life in that institution!? I've always tried to do the right thing :(
(Sorry for being repetitive) |

She does it why?
Because she can Lira, because she can do fairly much anything at all for whatever reason she likes and you'll just try to be nice about it and over intellectualise about the whole thing going... (you know the saying 'nice guys finish last'? It's true)
"Maybe it's me? Maybe it's her, maybe its something I've done or something cultural?"
No
Problem is both of you. I won't even hazard a guess why she's on your case lately but you've got to start standing up for yourself and put her on her ass one way or another. It has to come to a head in other words, you can either withdraw, run away and go to another course or school or you can explain to her not to treat you this way because it pisses you off and try and find a middle ground.
Find out why, don't find a way to please her because you're already making her happy by being bullied and find a solution, maybe amicably, maybe force the issue if you have too but make it end.
Plan your attack and counters to potential rebuttals, watch out she doesn't try to swing the conversation into other areas which are unrelated to the issue and make sure you take control of both the answers and questions. You can do it in writing, you can sure as hell do it by just speaking, be confident, take no crap. |

Jealousy. I had a teacher when I was 10 who was so jelaous of the fact I read about 5 years above my age, my maths skills were as good as anybody 3 years older and i was into computers which in his opinion "would never amount to anything in life because they were useless" so he made my life hell, picked up my weaknesses, like artwork, ripped my work up infront of everyone, told everyone my allergies and encouraged them to pick on me, then forced me to eat food that he knew would make me ill amongst many other things.
It's just a simple case of being afraid of. She's afraid that you're too good for her so she's getting nasty because of it. |

i did, however it wasn't relevant to my point.
the rest of your post was some decent advice on how to handle the situation, not any suggested reasoning for why she's harrassing him, which is what i addressed. |

I thought it was pretty clear, anything else is just guesswork really as to why she's being a pain, problem may well be Lira's behaviour at school and she's reacting accordingly. We only hear one side of the story here and as much as I like Lira, I don't rule him out as being a cause of aggravation, inadvertently or otherwise to this woman. |
