Carl Cox is responsible for plunging fish stocks in Australia
I just happened across a fishing show on tv (theres 30 billion of them in Aus) and the special guest was the big Cox himself:stongue:
The show was up in Broome on a fishing expedition with Carl and catching plenty of fish. So big was Cox, he needed a double episode

This week Rob and special guest in the form of internationally acclaimed DJ Carl Cox head to Broome in Australia’s remote North West and aim to check out the Lacepede Islands that are only 60 nautical miles north of Broome.
What does a DJ have to do with fishing? Well people from all walks of life enjoy fishing and Carl was no exception - determined to make the most of the experience before heading back to Europe for the start of his touring season.
The charter boat, Karma4 nestles in the sheltered waters behind the Lacapede Islands while a few squid and baitfish quickly settle in the flood lights at the back of the boat; a good omen for the fishing ahead.
Despite having done very little lure casting before, Carl picks it up quickly and his efforts are rewarded with a nice trevally.
Rob and Carl enjoy what the beach fishing has on offer along with the sights of passing birds, turtles, rays and sharks.
The catch of the day is a huge 18 kilo giant trevally. This is a great win in shallow water and goes to show you can stop these big brutes on light gear when there is no bommies for them to bust you on. What an effort! |

The mission is mud crabs and you wont be disappointed, in fact the crabs are as large and numerous as Rob has ever seen.
Back to fishing, a buck tail jig scored Rob and Carl a couple of nice fish around the bommies and drop offs near Hidden Creek. These lures were a real revelation on this trip.
For a start, the Williamson models come with built in curl tail plastics. This no doubt helps catch more fish. If the plastics are bitten off during a hot bite then you still have the sturdy buck tail working for you. Conversely if the fish get a little shy a new curl tail can be slid on thanks to the
plastic keeper wire that is built into the jig.
Heading to the well known reef off the mouth of Willy Creek just 10 minutes from Broome Rob casts up current and jigging the lures back along the bottom scores countless amounts of queenfish, bludger trevally, including the biggest golden trevally he has ever seen! Sand
snapper, cod and others also dwarfed the jigs; a very memorable session indeed.
Celebrity guest Carl Cox had an amazing time on the water with the crew. Now touring Europe playing his tunes to huge audiences, he still can’t wait to come back ‘down under’ for another fishing adventure with Fishing Australia. |
