Brazil scene? Is there a SCI Rio now? :p

About a month ago I received a call from my bank telling me that I had been pre-approved for a credit card, and that they would send it to me if I wanted it. I said sure, what the hell.
Today I get in the mail my very first statement for my credit card, and my bill showing that I owe 25 dollars for my annual fee.
Obviously that's the way works, and so I am all cool, until I realize that there is no credit card included in the mail.
Perplexed, I search again *as if I would have missed it between the two papers in the envelope* for the plastic... nothing.
I think to myself, "don't you normally get the card before you get the bill?"
Then I start thinking... "well maybe I have to take this to my bank, and they will give me my card in person???"
Confused, and mildly concerned, I call my bank and I explain my situation.
With a little searching, the woman replies "Ohhhh, I know what happened. It seems that they sent the card to 507 blahdy blah street, instead of 517 blahdy blah street. They managed to catch the mistake though for the statement."
Finding it quite ironic, I respond "well isn't that surprising; you guys manage to screw up the address for the card, but certainly have no trouble making sure I get the bill!"
She kinda laughed and said she would fix it for me. I hope this doesn't cause me in the long run though. |
Well, at least you're going to have a credit card - I'm being charged for a credit card I don't have :p
I closed my bank account last year at "BankBoston" in June (it was the Brazilian branch of the "Bank of America") - I had never really used it, but my former employer used to pay us through that account. During this 1 year period of inactivity, lots of things happened, and the bank is now called "Itaú Personalité". Lately, I've been billed 3 times, no matter how often I tell them the credit card and the bank account no longer exist... They always apologise and tell me it's not going to happen again, but that's not what the bill says :( |
