Being a Howells or Burridge fanboy is really, really ing easy.
Burridge is so class it hurts. And hes ing hilarious too. The night I saw him play records for 6hrs against Sasha & Ableton, was probably some of the most insane, perfect, drawn out, creative and interesting mixing I have ever seen with this kind of music. ing records vs. mac, flawless, all night. |
Dude had maybe, maybe 100 people at the stage when we got there (it's a massive stage - holds thousands), still I thought it was an OK initial turnout for Burridge, early.
Over the next hour another 100 or so came, maybe a bit more - but from the moment he got on the decks until the moment he got done he owned every single person there.
And he was definitely hilarious - and I didn't even meet him. When they kicked him off due to lightning, he came into the crowd for his last record and got on the benches with everyone there and raved out. It was one of the coolest things I have ever seen in my life.
At the end of his set (very end), it got somewhat quiet before people started applauding him and I screamed "THANK YOU LEE!" at the top of my lungs, he looks right at me, gives the bow, and as soon as it's quiet I just screamed out "JUST GIVE US TWO TO THREE MORE HOURS!"
He pointed at the chick who had told him it was his last record, and proceeded to make a kicking motion and shrug. It was hilarious.
And for the record, I know I sound like every single fanboy in any Armin or PVD thread who's ever been absolutely sure they looked either of those two in the eye and had a "moment" with them, and I just don't care - the guy has inspired me musically for years, and seeing him live for the first time today all I could think was "ing hell, that's the kind of time I want people to know I'm having when I play!"
/Long-winded, excited, Burridge-n00b related post.
I am going to play wonky ing techno all night tomorrow. |
