I like the flow of the game, most sports have it, and the stop-start ways of american football really does my head in. Tactics in rugby have to be worked out beforehand and plays practised and it just appeals way more to the worldwide market than american football does. |
I definitely understand that part of it, and I'm sure it's the main reason for the huge divide. It's a huge difference in tempo, and if you grow up watching only one sport in the US, it's most likely football, instead of soccer. There's something to be said for each, but it takes some getting used to.
A side note, though:
American football is far and away the most complicated sport in terms of strategy, of any in the world. The amount of planning & organization & practice & research & adjustments that go into a game is just remarkable. The coaches on nfl teams put in an inhuman amount of work each week, just for a 1-hour game. I've always thought it would be awesome to be an offensive or defensive coordinator, though. Anything that takes that much intelligence, ingenuity, planning, & competitiveness sounds good to me--especially when it involves sports. :D |
