At what point does it become OK to tell your neighbors they need to get their ing dog in line or you'll make a complaint to animal control?
:conf:
It really doesn't take all that much to have them come, and if the problem isn't resolved relatively quickly (or if other neighbors have complained), they really don't hesitate to take your dog and put it down.
I've hesitated calling for quite some time knowing full well that the odds animal control will deem this mongrel unfit for living are probably higher than the odds they let him live - but these people don't even pay attention to him. He's outside at all hours of the morning (i.e. he was out from 3am-5am Friday morning) barking his ing head off for hours at a time, and no one does anything about it.
I've complained to them in person, they clearly don't care. Thoughts? Would I be a horrible person if a complaint I made resulted in their pet being taken from them? |

i think i'd rather move to a new house than be responsible for someone's pet being taken away... even if he is an annoying hyena creature. :(
it's probably better to call the cops since it's a noise disturbance. |

Yeah, I know. I'd never do it, I couldn't stomach being responsible for someones pet being taken away.
:(
The barking has just driven me nuts at times when all I wanted was some silence to write in.
Leave work nao. Bratwursts afoot. :o |

Agreed on calling the cops.
Of course, they might just end up calling animal control. :p |

| if they don't care, it's best that you do call animal control. For all you know they could be starving it, mistreating it etc. As a dog owner, if somebody told me something about her, i'd take it in and totally do something about it, even if it's just in appeasing the neighbours, and that attitude would show as a caring owner. Nothing pisses me off more than little dogs which suck balls than owners who also suck balls. One tv show here, a womans cat died & she bought a chihuahua cos she thought being small itd be just like having a cat  |

| We had the same problem at the house I grew up in. Neighbours didn't want to comply, so my dad just started using his slingshot on the dog, lol. |

lol. One thing u could do is get a water pistol & squirt it when it's barking (if u have a shot) and tell the neighbours that since they're not doing anything to do it, then you are, plus it's humane. It's not nice for the dogs, but they learn to associate the soaking with the bad behaviour. |

| I say let them know it's bothering you first. No need to jump the gun and head right to the police with noise complaints. |

I've talked to them about it twice now in person, and each time has been like talking to a brick wall.
The first time I went and complained, I think it was about 9 on a Saturday morning (which wasn't so bad in itself), but the dog barking had woke me up around 7:30 or 8, and then continued uninterrupted for the next hour and a half.
I walked (in my pajamas) to their house, had to ring the doorbell three times, and finally the woman who lives there comes to the door:
Woman: Yes?
RJT: Can you please bring your dog inside?
Woman: Why?
RJT: Do you not hear him barking?
Woman: Dogs bark.
RJT: It's been going on for an hour and a half.
Woman: Oh.
She didn't apologize at all, and she just called the dog in the house. He was back out there an hour or two later.
Basically, complaints have been an exercise in futility, and I'm fairly sure that any call to the police is going to wind up in Animal Control being called in the end.
Just seems to be a lose-lose situation. |

Lol, did you miss the part where I said I'd complained to them in person already?
