You mean the US never had any of their nuclear ups reach the public.
The only reason the US "won" the Cold War (whatever the that actually means) is because it could play the propaganda game so very, very well. Cunts like Reagan on tv, telling everyone that everything was always just fine and dandy - people had someone to believe in, whether it was the truth or not. I never lived in the Soviet Union, but I don't think people there had much to believe in when it came to their government, especially when American media was so quick to get on Russia's as soon as they ed up big time, especially with the sort of sensationalist agenda the US had and still has. |

Granted, even after Uranium has reached its half-life, it is still quite radioactive....it's just that the most significant decay occurs within the first few decades. |
You go play with it first them... I'll be standing over here about 16,000km away watching to make sure you're doing it properly. |

Highly possible, yes.

Yeah, I'd definitely have to agree with you there too. The propaganda machine in the US is quite amazing. Impressive even, in a depressing way.
US Media coverage reaches almost the entire world now. There aren't many that don't hear the ideas/ideals put out there.
Obviously, that's simplified a bit though. |

God, try living here. I ing hate it, and if it keeps up (hah, as if I'd think it wouldn't) or gets worse, I'll probably resort to ditching the TV altogether and just downloading whatever shows I want to see. When the media is the one who decides who your next president will be, that's when you know you have a problem. |

Should try living there, it's like being in some kind of... I dunno, island where no one gets in in terms of news from the outside world. Then you can sort of add in the influence of sponsorship and media ownership to slim down the perspective to virtually a sliver of information.
It happens in most countries to some degree that I've ever stayed in for any length of time and taken the time to notice the news there, the US isolation though is extraordinary. |

I've already done that.
Our TV hasn't had an aerial plugged into it for over 3 years. And I don't have cable TV either.
I check stuff out on the net, and if it looks interesting, I buy it on DVD, and watch it at the best quality i can. With no advertising, or un-necessary material.

Scary. Though, I wonder just how different it is here? |

Pretty much. The only news I can watch is the local news for the local stories. Outside of that I venture to non-US-based websites for most of my news.

"Obama... Clinton... Obama... Clinton... Obama... Clinton... Obama... Clinton..." is all you hear from the media in this race. They're far from the best candidates when you look at it, yet the media outright refuses to give any of the other candidates any meaningful time in the spotlight. I would be incredibly surprised (and willing to bet serious cash) if one of those two isn't our next president, simply because of how much they're being shoved down our throats. |

its not which candidate you want to win that you should vote for, its the candidate who, if elected, will rape you for all you're worth the least :) |

Yeah, every single one of my American friends have said the same thing to me. The media, in general, is highly highly insular to anything that doesn't have an immediate or potential effect on the US.
Australia is quite opposite at times though. Nothing particularly exciting happens here, so there is a lot of focus on international 'whatevers.' |

Hehehe... you should have tried getting in and out of the US and in particular about the time of the 9-11 attacks if you wanted to see isolationism at it's worst.
