What's so confusing about being overqualified?
I'd like to think the majority of my professors are overqualified to work at McDonalds, is that unheard of?
:conf:
I'm pretty sure it's just a phrase used to describe a situation where your credentials eliminate you from contention for certain jobs because employers feel as though they have to pay you more (and don't want to), or the job in general offers less money than you'd be inclined to take for it. |
it's very common actually. My dad ended his working career doing a job where he was overqualified because when he lost his previous one aged 52, nobody would take him on, they all wanted someone under 40 for his line of work, so he worked for less money than he could've made, but it was a job which is better than no job.
tbh mate you may end up going into one of those jobs for a while, my brothers got a masters in chemistry but had to begin his working life on the bottom rung of life with people who had no chemistry trainign before taking the job, but within 6 months he's moved up in the company to one of the higher positions just by his sheer work quality, knowledge of procedures and determination. Funny thing is, my brother went into the exact further education that my dad did. I was too clever for that, I went into none... Oh, wait. :p |

| Nono, I am not a vegetarian... but I only meat about once every fortnight or so... or maybe it's only when the moon is full, I can never remember those nights. I always wake up naked the next day though, so odd... |

I hate it when perfect songs are wrought with the pain of perfect memories.
I can still recall just how her eyes looked at this part, those large green orbs dancing in the flicker of a room that we were no part of, those vein-less and pallid lids enveloping my ego. ing. Shouldn't be sharing this. Sup gin + Advil PM. |

couldn't decide if this deserved its own thread or not

Earthquakes are caused by gays, says MP
AN Israeli politician has blamed a spate of recent earthquakes in the Middle East on gays
Shlomo Benizri of the ultra-Orthodox Jewish Shas Party said the only way to prevent the earthquakes was for parliament to stop liberalising laws concerning homosexuals, AP reported.
“Why do earthquakes happen? One of the reasons is the things to which the Knesset (parliament) gives legitimacy, to sodomy,'' Mr Benizri said.
Mr Benizri said earthquake damage could be avoided if the parliament stopped “passing legislation on how to encourage homosexual activity in the state of Israel, which anyway brings about earthquakes''.
Two earthquakes originating in Lebanon have shaken Israel in the past week. The first occurred two days after the Israeli attorney-general ruled that same-sex couples could adopt children.
In recent years, Israeli courts have ruled that the government must recognise sex-sex marriages performed abroad and grant gay couples inheritance rights. |

ty to hear. At least you have some severance though? Some closure in the fact that it's over? I don't know, just assuming. I wish I had that much. I get empty promises and the fearful tears of a broken girl who was once ready to pour herself into another person. Not to be dramatic or anything. |

At first, no closure. We finally got the chance to sit down and discuss it the other night, though, and get everything sorted out. I still have different thoughts regarding the whole situation in the back of my head, but that's just my mind conjuring up bull. We're friends, and will probably be very close friends, but just the whole loss of the "boyfriend-girlfriend" aspect of it still really makes me feel like . Like your original post, half of the I've done today and over the last few days has had that effect.
You'll pull through. |

Until you come to the realization that you might like her far more than she likes you, even maintaining the status of "close friends", and that you could never bring yourself to put her through the agony and longing she has put you through... so it would be far better if you didn't speak at all. And you burn her number. Try to erase her from your life.
It doesn't work, by the way. |

| Considering the circumstances under which we broke up and our relationship before we began dating, I would strongly disagree. I certainly understand where you're coming from and would agree in regards to most of my past relationships. This, however, is a different scenario, one that I don't feel up to delving into at this point. |
