This isn't a WIP as a "how am I doing as a producer" kind of thing...also, this was a very rushed release, so its a lot of samples, presets, and even pre-made MIDI, so I'm wondering how I'm doing in terms of how it sounds and how my song structuring is going, and less on my actual....musicality? for lack of a better word. |
I think you've got to take a listen to some more anjunadeep stuff - anjunadeep one and two are quite frankly classics of the genre and showcase the most unbelievably produced, melodic tracks.
My advice is to really listen to the vocal sample that is provided, that gives clues about the musical direction.
your bass and padds are out of key with each other - try pitching the bass down by 9 (or up by 3)
the percussion programming is rather sparse, needs more variation.
Musically, this is all over the place mate - I'm not being harsh, just suggesting some music practice or maybe some piano lessons.
That said I really like the bit at 4:40 to about 4:50 - you could bass a track around this.
sorry to not be more positive |

Harsh was what I was looking for. I need a lot of work. Again, this was rushed so it doesn't sound as polished as it could be. I may learn piano from Garageband. I also need to learn music theory. The percussion was a sample, a loop, so I learned that I am best not using loops but using individual parts for more programability. And that little section.....yea, it felt out of place, but I wanted something "happy" sounding, so I might use that in something else in the future. |

had a bit of a further play with this, really looking for any issues regarding sonic quality with this; how does it sound on your system? too much/too little bass etc and structural issues.
let me know what you think

| mix sounds good. bassline nice n punchy. the piano in the breakdown could be brought up closer and more forward in the mix. the chord progession and arp is spot on for trance. reminds me of alan-m's stuff back in the day. the one thing that does stick out is how buried the piano is in the mix. |

kick is super boxy, snare isn't really connecting, percs, everything all over the place. no real groove to speak of. just all over the place. |

cool techno vibe. good roomie low end and nice kick. mix is pretty spot on. nice vocal :) i think this is a good project worth finishing. it would be nice to hear some additional busy percussion and parts with more busyness in general. |

will return the favour in the morning as it's almost 4am here and I need a bit of sleep =) |

| it sounds better. it kinda seems like the piano notes just need to be an octave hire. instrumentally and musically you have the mids, the higher octave piano might sit a lot better. either way it works pretty well. |
