yeah really nice mellow vibe. sounds real nice
i think the main problem is that your music is in a minor, sounds like your main chord is a/c/e minor triad
your bass (which isnt really a bass, more like a low string) is suggestive of E minor. Its moving from through the root, third, fourth and seventh of the scale but always moves back to the root of E (which is the 5th of A minor, or the top of your chord)
This gives the kind of clashing/dissonant feel. If anything its usually better to have the bass instrument play the root of your chord (not always OBVS)
If you want to keep the sound just write a new part for it based around the scale of A (and go low A not high). that would prob work v nicely but then your kick will need to provide all the low end energy to the mix (unless you add a sub too)
then you need to sort out the mix as suggested :) there is a lot going on in the low mids IMO but this is mostly just to do with pitch

Thanks, Chris! Yes, main chord is a/c/e, and "bass" main is e. Trained ears :) I'll try to see how it works with bass on "A" scale.
Even though i like it the way it is now :).
It seems that i've accidentally put a reverb filter on master channel, and the default limiter on fl master channel is pretty cranked up on "gain" function, that's why everything sounds so wide. |

Lots of lush tones going on. Not much I can add from the others but yes, keep at this one fer sure
-------------------------------------
I have no idea what this is or even what genre to put it in.
Very raw wip atm with some placeholders still in.
Had to make a composition change and not sure if I like it this way or the other way..lol

The beginning is very nice, floaty pad and arp... tbh i would get rid of piano melody and try something else instead... |

Ah, the piano. Yea, I have contemplated that. Thing is, as I mentioned the placeholders, that is one of them. The track was actually conceived on that piano chord progression. I am toying with the thought of another arp yet I already am running 3 and don't want to cloud those tones.
Going to have to play with that and see...Thanks for the insight Gordan! |

Vary up those drums and you've got yourself a progressive breaks track. I would also suggest trying out some different samples, as those drum hits sound strangely lo-fi. |

Hey, Thanks Mystery. I honestly had never heard of that genre before.
Took a listen to some mixes out there and to my surprise, it IS alot of the kind of stuff I do. I was actually kind of blown away by this revelation. =O) Thanks for the enlightenment! |

Latest one from me, another one that sounds a bit progsbreaks-ish, I think... |
had to go quite far back to find one that hasn't been removed!!
I like this it reminds me of sasha airdrawndagger a little in style, really cool! the sounds are really nice
if i have to make some constructive criticism (which i always try to do as i think its the most useful) I'd say the overall mix is letting it down. I'd say it could do with being louder and a bit more punchy, the kick and snare could cut through the mix better. i think you could do with highpassing basically everything except the kick and bass as it all seems a bit crowded in the low mids and lows. IMO if you worked on you rmixing youd have an amazing tune there. Im just re reading this book http://www.soundonsound.com/reviews...ts-small-studio its IMO the best book of its kind ive read
ALL IMO of course |

Commenting on the fly - clean with good sound separation, dynamic and nicely control levels, interesting sounds selection with sweet sublime melodic theme - drums are doing justice for this type of genre but I would add occasionally some complex pattern to it.
Overall had good listening experience man, nice work.

A very solid basis for a track, but definitely needs something more. No idea what that something would be, though.
And like Darek said, some drum fills every now and then to break the pattern. |
