Interesting.
You're definitely developing your own sound. And I like your ideas.
I'm not really familiar with that genre, but what I hear makes sense. The track isn't stale, it has a path, a progression. |

This just reminds me a lot of Walking with Elephants except your sound is far too big and loud comparing to that track. Not sure what you were going for but I would tone it down a bit.

Yeah I never really comment on your tracks because I'm not familiar with that style at all. The above comment pretty much sums things up for me. They're always well produced and sound polished if that helps :p

Hmm not bad, you desperately need a good hook though. The stabs become very repetitive quite quickly and by the time they develop into the lead it sounds a bit boring by then. Use another sound for a hook then use what you have for the lead from the break.

hey guys, will catch up on any back logged feedback i need to give to the regulars especially the guys who check my tunes, i've been banging full steam and haven't had a lot of time to listen to much of anything. the good news is I'm in LA with a dope job and my productions are finally where i want them to start playing them in live DJ sets and that will all be taking place here in LA, exciting as hell!
this track is from a youtube video this girl did of a cover of Birdy Not About Angels, it was recorded with a cast member she works with on Under the Dome, and i was totally blown away by her voice... innocence but mature and rich, such a beautiful voice especially the way she hits the high notes, no shrieking at all, just smooth and well executed.

i decided i wanted to take another approach so yesterday i took another look at the vocals and processed, warped them into something else (the main challenge is the guitar in the background, which in this new take i'm working on sounds way better and isolated as a vocal) and it sounds pretty damn great, original chord progression and piano work, but i'll work on that more before i upload it. i'd love to make something that if she actually heard it would be moved. honestly i just think it would be bad ass to work on an original track with her! and she is pretty damn gorgeous, so hey, what the hell right?
the thing i'm most pleased with in the new version is the warping of the vocals to get the timing right with the rest of the arrangement and instrumentation, which sometimes for me can be hit or miss, but really nailed it in this time. anyway enough about that, i'll upload it soon! |

Yeah, that's exactly what I was suspecting. It's longer than what it should be. Now that you confirm it's clear the thing needs to be reworked. |

to be very honest, the record quality of the vocal suck so much it overweight the fact that she probably can sing, and then destroys the track imo. id ask her to record it with a mic, or i would remove the vocals from the track. other that that, the baseline arp is really funky, id work around that, added some more layers etc. its really cool sounding. |
Thanks for checking it out, yeah the vocals need work, I mixed them best I could. That's why I'm looking forward to the 2nd project, because I have them processed and warped to where it sounds way better. We'll see, anyone else feel the vocals are total deal breaker? The track could stand on its own but I wrote the whole track and chord progression around her voice. A proper recording would be amazing. |

Here's a tune I started this night. It doesn't have any special percussion yet or toms nor white noise sweeps. I will add them later. I will also add some sequence elements because i just have the basics down, sub bass, mid, high, 4 layer pads, melody and what not. I could really use some advice with some progression, hook etc. I'm still new those concepts i mentioned. The BPM is 132.
My aim is for electronic film score not really into groovy dancy type thingys. |
