haha thanks again, not sure why im neglecting the kick so much, maybe my 2 inch speakers have something to do with it.
maybe fixed the kick, maybe not.
still feel like the meat of the track is lacking.

Going right direction Mac, volume levels are almost right but now I would beef up a bit this kick (sounds a little on the dry end) a specially in the mid-low level. If you are on Ableton use "drum buss" to change character of this particular kick.
Cheers,

damn, maybe ill try with different kicks samples in the future, not working out right now lol.
using reason.
I layered in another subby kick, just not that good to dial it in I guess. |

Try to go for something like this:

my headphones have a low dip in the sub so I cant exactly hear it properly but yea that kick sounds clean, love that bass.
Im sure I have a lot more problems than choosing a kick, more-so a structural volume-mix problem somewhere thrown in here and there.
made one last render, was too addicting not to haha.
hopefully the next track will get off to a better start, i'll start with the kick lol. noticed some more problems like everything sounds too flat, need more effort. |

I haven't been inspired as of the last 6 months or so plus other projects have kept me from music. Started this last night, very chill d&b wip to get my feet wet again

Actually, this is pretty good staff man, little work on your hats (a bit to bright for me) and kick (need to have some adjustment to your low end) and then is ready to go :D |

Phil, this is good. It's got fullness and sounds clear.
I also did nothing for the last 6-7 months, or it was so terrible that it was deleted immediately.
MSZ, you are quick at track removing, so i managed to listen only once. Yeah, the start was not spectacular, but after the first break it starts to develop really nicely, recognizable msz style..
Darek, you sound pro, i would like to hear something more experimental or trancey from you
This is just a skeleton, needs more development... i like the gated pad. And nice drum loops i've found :)

Thanks for the reply. Hope all are well
Gordan, compositionally you could take it a few ways and seems solid. Arrangement and quality of the samples is the area I would question |

Thanks Phil. There is no arrangement, it's just a test.
Yeah, compared to commercial stuff, quality of samples are not that smooth. Where do you guys get your samples? |

Myself, I have such a library of sounds that I just simply don't need anymore (unless they just sound so unique that I gotta mess with it)but I have found really good quality one shots with Cymatics & GhostHack. I also have a really good sample pack from Deadmau5 that I use from called Xfer which I know is still floating out there somewhere.
For the most part, I use 90% percussive sample one shots from these packs and use my synths to cover the rest.
I'd also like to point out a little trick that taught me a really good lesson on percussive sequencing. Depending on your DAW (I use Ableton and I swear I am not sure if this is available to other DAW's) I would put a full clip of a percussive sample loop that I found and then right click on that Sample to create a Percussive Midi clip. Now, this does not work on every sample you put in but...there have been times that it captured the full clip into Midi and broke down each part it was using. I then could use these one shot sample packs and literally replace the sample Kick,Snare and other percussive elements including Cymbal's,Knocks, tom rolls, etc.
This allowed me to visually see the progression of the percussion and how it was built. It also gave me the flexibility to re arrange in MIDI the progression of the beat. Instead of a 4 on the floor, I could change it to a 7/4 if I wanted to or eliminate or even add a downbeat.
I originally learned of this by taking a 4 bar loop of an Arpeggio that I liked, converted it to Midi and then altered the sound of the arp and essentially changing it from going up to down in progression and thought "hmm, wonder if this can be done with drums" and walaaa |

yea a bit of a juxtaposition, drum loop saying the prodigy, rest is saying proggy.I think the loop can be used as a fill at some point or an interesting variation. |
