Nice!! Ok here goes...
Ok, so that intro percussion line. I, cannot help myself but when I first dropped it, it totally reminded me of a swing pattern used on the early 80's Rock song from Little River Band - Man on your mind.
:26 Mark, the fill could use some definition but like how the secondary kick fills in.
The Bass line you have tagged for this. I like it however, I feel that it is kind of competing with the piano chords as there is a lot of movement. Or perhaps the snap of the tone on the bass is making it seem like thee is too much going on there. I don't know if I am making sense there. I guess for the progression of the One - Two Kick/Snare and then the Bass comes over the top and it and puts in a LOT of work over it,seems very busy.
1:00 Mark really fills out with the Pads and the Plucks. Backing "Sax"(?) is really nice, dig that.
I am kind of thinking that the Vocal chop would have been nice introduced a little earlier in the piece and used in some of the dissonant notes in between the Piano. But the Vox really shines and seriously fills in a lot of atmos
A little more consideration to the composition and I'd say you have a fine chill out piece there Sir! Nice One! |

Been a long time, usually stop in every so often when the memory of this place pops in and then check the last few pages. Though, seems rather dead around here now :S.
But, figured, since your DnB work is good stuff it was worth leaving a comment...my friend DJ's mostly DnB dance sets and sends them to me all the time, and most often it's pretty *yawn*. But your stuff has good energy, is clean and is quite uplifting. Definitely like. Nothing else to say...musically, I like it and would definitely throw it into my DnB playlist.
Mix-wise, you can take this with a grain of salt, since I've historically been rather mediocre with my own low-end mixing (until recently)...though someone made a comment about the kick that I disagree with. I think it's fine, and I think the sub-bass is fine...
On the HS8's, everything sounds just dandy. Nice, clear and balanced, and the kick seems well placed and is tight and punchy. However, on the hi-fi system, while there is mostly agreement with the HS8, the kick does seem to get lost a little bit when the Sub comes up into that E (maybe the 20-30hz range?), but honestly the bass is nice and couch massaging-tight, and that fast side-chain defines where the kick should be enough to where I wouldn't honestly care if I were passively listening.
DnB definitely your thing...hope you keep at it! |

Uh...I am a little loss for words on your response. I mean...wow! Kindest words and it truly made my day. Thank you soo very much for that, really appreciate it and the time you took to listen and respond.
I've received mixed responses on this piece but in my heart I know, it is one of my more solid tracks. Hearing words like that confirm to me. Again, blown away at your response. Too kind
And yea, still wish we had more action around here and there are some who still lurk but yea, not like the good ol days |

Good job on this man...hits the spots on a couple of levels.
The song morphs as you continue the story like progression. I totally can appreciate how, although hardly minimalist at the beginning, you let the Track breath and allowed it time to develop, with additional parts into a very warm tone. Vocal chops at the end really caught me off guard but if you ask me, should remain although as a suggestion. Maybe space them out a bit more. Second thought...a small delay forming between each phrase?
If I had ANY critique on this piece :
Could easily transition to a Lofi interpretation with some record needle scratch sfx lmao
For 3:25 you have a very nice flowing and developing track going where different elements are added. I believe another level could be directed towards some percussive additions. Imo it needs a little (and I do mean very little) persuasive swing to push that groove up a bit. Subtle percussive clicks with long reverbed tails accentuating like a snare or something on the down beats. Perhaps as well a small driving shaker that just hits under the mix to give it that progressive flow.
Got this chillout down man, nice stuff |

Thanks man for your time and honest opinion on this track :) As far as drums variations - I think this is good idea and will try to implement this before release.
