No it's an Original track, which I'm putting in a more modern setting. it's the chord progression of the track, i just did set into dotted eights. The vocal are the first takes and comped into something useable. We will still need to do a lot retakes. some nose and throat squeezing, but also some stronger lines. potential is there, just needs more work (like always) |
Yeah, the melody is really familiar but overall idea sound good so far.

so here is a crossover I'm working on, a mixture between rock, progressive and a bit of a deephouse lick. weird mixture. and a male vocalist (we don't hear those often here)
Not fully done yet, but far enough to get some feedback.

I like the elements in this, but the vocal isn't sitting well yet for me - it might be a little too high in the mix or maybe just too dry? I think it needs some work to help it bed better.
the track behind sounds good, and I like the ideas though |

I've been trying to make this track work for ages.. should I just bin it?
it's one of those ones - I think I like it, I think I like the melody, and whenever I listen to it after leaving it for a while, i think I should fix it up and get it out there - but I might just be deluding myself.
It's trance - 135bpm
what do you guys think/
anything that might fix it? or is it objectively decent/? |

Juan, sound like you slowly have an idea how good track suppose to sound :D but there is still a lots of room for improvement my friend for example those two mid-range bass line where they come in around 0:46 mark, are not sounding right to me and in addition when you low freq bass is coming, this whole thing (kick and your bass lines) are not clicking with me at all - they don't coexist properly together my friend.
As fat as your kick - initially (an till 1:15 mark) you could low cut this kick so doesn't stand out so much.
Cheers,

Thanks for your comments Darek. I went back to my synths to take another look to see anything was wrong or out of the ordinary on the mid range basses and I saw that LFO modulation dial wasn't at default meaning 0 on the bass station 2. I knew something was wrong but i couldn't point it out, thanks anyhow. I started to lower my levels so i can get the final mix down to 0 because people were telling me that my kick was to high at volume or my bass was so I read some tuts and used the familiar cut and boost for kick and bass with side chain compression. Will work on something new and fresh with the new stuff i learned. Cheers homie.

Toby, this is some serious stuff my friend - melody line is simply sublime and works pretty sweet in this track -> but I'm still not fully sold on your low freq bass line, it is too (let's say) boomy (at least for me), you can either EQ it a bit or cut some freq from it and allow you mid-range to breath through it a bit more - if this make any sense - your mid and high bass will drive your energy and create this vibe in your track - overall excellent work man ;)
Cheers,

This is fantastic. I have no idea if it was on purpose, but all the way up until the big build back into the track (4:15), all the different little melodic bits sounded very slightly off. Partly it was rhythm, partly it was tonality, but something wasn't quite meshing.
But then 4:15 hits and suddenly everything resolves beautifully. Definitely adds to the euphoric nature of the track--don't change anything about the melodic structure at all. It works perfectly.
The only strutural nitpick I have is at 1:11--you need a little bit more of a transition there, I think. Feels too abrupt and unexpected.
Other people can comment on mixing, not my forte. Excellent, excellent track. |

I really like it. Maybe the 1:50-> lead is little bit overwhelming and timing doesn't quite click for me but nevertheless past that point its awesome!

The sub bass seems to be hanging around a bit too much. Sounds like there isn't enough "downtime" on the very low end.

Same goes for me as optik said. Dig the elemnts, but maybe just a little too dry vocal. Overall feeling still holds up though. |

| Optik, like the track, but it needs some more counter melodies and the drums are holding the track back, they can be more tight and mechanic giving that drive feel, it's a bit more pitched balearic at the moment a style difficult to match with the lead |

Thanks guys for all the comments - much appreciated. The first version of this track I exported in 2012, thanks to you guys comments I think I'm a lot closer to finishing it.
I've updated the version on soundcloud to sound a bit sweeter using my tc eq and compressor. I'll fix the abrupt change into the breakdown and repost a final version in a bit
cheers!! |
