Just a soundtest

Once you get the mix sorted, it will be better than anything I could make for sure.

There is an issue with your bass, like the first note is good, but when it goes a little higher you lose so much sub frequency content that it doesnt work. Maybe either try 1 octave lower for the rest of the notes, and mixed in with higher octave, create a new channel for that. Or, play with synthesis, or.. remove the sub from that bass, create a sub layer and layer that bad boy in :) problem solved.

Should be good then but, take my advice with a grain of salt :)

My first dub technoish track/wip, I know the bongos are no good mainly because they're so static, im gonna buy a djembe or something off craigslist and replace it when I can. Its probably not very good but I had fun.

Oh common... thanks but that track is fairly simple, you have done much better stuff than this.

Pretty mystified sound you have going on in there MAc, like how slowly you unwind your melodic story with crafty structuring your progression - so far so good man, also appreciate your input on my WIP and will check this issue with main and sub bass lines ;)

You know, I really love that bassline. In fact, I'd probably ditch that synth altogether and let the bass be the lead.

I understand nothing of this kind of music, but it's very hypnotic. I don't actually mind the bongos, but they could be layered with something else. And you might want to rethink that alias.

So this morning I was bored, so I started slicing up some breaks. Suddenly I had this in my hands.

Liking the melodic development a lot, but needs cooler drums and bass line

That's a lovely piece mate, lots of people do ambient like a film score drone but you bring grove and feeling to the table

The bongo is good, if you want it to sound more alive I would suggest (and you probably already know this) doing say a 16 bar loop, moving around the bong hits, automating the eq and room verb throughout, widening and narrowing the stereo field, you know keeping things moving).

How is going Toby? - as far as your WIP work goes there is two things which draw my attention (or take away from the melodic part) - one is kick which could be a bit more thicker and second is this mid-bass line which vibrate (or has some LFO on it) a bit too much for my taste lol - the rest is slowly growing on me and after like third time I started to really like it :D

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention nothing is properly balanced yet as it's purely a headphone mix at this point.

Not sure who Toby is, though.
