Baseband doesn't seem to be updated on 1 gen Iphone
"The 3.1.2 update for the iPhone 3G and 3GS contains such an update, so running the vanilla updater straight away with iTunes will reprogram and update the baseband."
"iPhone 2G (1st Generation)
Use PwnageTool to do the magic and then restore with iTunes using your newly created .ipsw ‘nuff said, you don’t need to worry about anything, the baseband will be unlocked, the phone jailbroken"
Anyone check out the new Motorola's? The Cliq and Droid?
They look like giant pieces of , and verizon is going hard to advertise it. When will people learn not to trust Motorola products, might as well buy an LG.

GOOD NEWS!!!!!
I'm not sure how I did it... but I was able to downgrade 3.1.2 to 3.0?? succesfully!
After trying blackra1n without success, then getting 1604 errors several times tryying to update with iPhone1_1_3.1.2_7D11_Custom_Restore.ipsw, and trying different fixes for 1604 on youtube, the phone seemed to have been stuck/bricked in DFU mode. Since it was stuck there, I went back to redsn0w, and jailbroke with Cydia and unlock, and this time I got to the pineapple!!!
So I just downgraded, jailbroke and unlocked my phone from 3.1.2 after everywhere I was told it could not be done!!!!

Dutch Hacker Held Jailbroken iPhones Hostage Via Security Vulnerability
We’ve warned you previously about some of the security vulnerabilities that come with jailbreaking your iPhone. Turns out a Dutch hacker has gone and made a point to a countless number of jailbroken devices by using a port scanning technique along with some networking smarts. Then after he gained access to the jailbroken iPhones the rest was easy. All of the devices that were hacked had unchanged root passwords along with SSH enabled. You’d know if you were hacked if the following message popped up on your screen:
If you don’t pay, it’s fine by me, but remember, the way I got access to your iPhone can be used by thousands of others-they can send text messages from your number (like I did), use it to call or record your calls, and actually whatever they want, even use it for their hacking activities! I can assure you, I have no intention of harming you or whatever, but, some hackers do! It’s just my advice to secure your phone.
Like promised, no harm was done or will be done. It turns out the hacker just wanted to teach people a simple lesson – change your root passwords and disable SSH. He’s even been nice enough to post directions on how to make sure your jailbroken iPhone is not at risk.

If I popped out a big turd and slapped a keypad and screen on it, you'd think it was so sweet it hurts.
As long as it's not made by Apple right???
I'd rather have a crackberry over that motorola garbage..
And I HATE crackberry's...

What's wrong with the DROID? Do tell. Every single review of it so far has been pretty much drooling about it.
