Huge iPhone 4S demand still forcing buyers to wait weeks
Demand for Apples latest smartphone is still outpacing supply, causing customers to wait three weeks or more to purchase the new phone. Apple launched the iPhone 4S more than a month ago, and the handset shattered opening-weekend sales records. BGR reported more than two weeks ago that strong demand for the handset was resulting in stock-outs around the country, and now Dow Jones Newswires reports that supply is not yet able to keep up with the mass of would-be iPhone owners waiting impatiently for their devices to arrive. Read on for more.
AT&T subscribers looking to make online purchases currently have to wait as long as 21 days to receive their iPhone 4S orders. We are having some supply issues in the sense that demands huge, Gelnn Lurie, AT&Ts president of emerging devices, told Dow Jones Newswires. We have had just record-breaking sales on it.
Verizon Wireless said it is currently working with Apple to replenish iPhone 4S stock. Not only was the iPhone 4S popular when it was introduced, but the popularity continues to build, a spokesperson said. We dont want to keep our customers waiting for their purchases. Verizons website is currently quoting delivery times of more than 3 weeks, and Sprint customers placing new orders will have to wait up to 14 days to take delivery of their new iPhones.
IPhone 4S orders placed on Apples website are currently shipping in 1-2 weeks for AT&T, Verizon Wireless and Sprint subscribers.

iPhone 4S UNLOCKED w/o any software
A developer (via Chronic) has apparently discovered how to unlock the iPhone 4S (reportedly AT&T version only) without any software or hardware tweaking. The unlock will assist you in using your iPhone 4S on T-Mobiles network as long as you have a T-Mobile SIM card. Before you get started, go ahead and cut down your T-Mobile SIM card to match your AT&T SIM cards size. Were working to confirm this works, but go ahead and give the following directions a try:
Insert original carrier AT&T SIM card
Dial 611 for AT&T customer service hotline and drop the call
Turn on Airplane Mode
Take out AT&T SIM card
Insert T-Mobile SIM card
Continue after the break..
6._Make sure WiFi is off ( also tap on Forget this Network to make sure it doesnt connect automatically later)
7. Switch off Airplane Mode and iPhone will search for network. This is followed by the Apple splash screen appearing.
8. Activation Required will be displayed on the screen
9. EDGE network will activate automatically notice the E on the top left corner of the screen
10. Wait for about 20-30 seconds and turn off the phone
11. Turn on iPhone and the same Activation Required screen will be displayed
12. When you see one signal bar, tap on Use Cellular Connection
13. Eject SIM card
14. Activation Required screen will be displayed the second time
15. Insert SIM card
16. Unlocked!
If cutting down your SIM isnt your thing you can obtain a microSIM through T-Mobiles website.
(Works on the IP4S, IP4 and 3GS)

I was the same in a way. Just walked up to a FIDO kiosk and picked up a white 32GB without hassle.

Mobilicity CEO suddenly departs to pursue other interests
Wow This is an incredible turn of events. Were hearing rumours of Dave Dobbin, President and Chief Executive Officer of new entrant Mobilicity, has been fired from his position. Hes still listed on the company website, but apparently John Bitove, Mobilicity Chairman, says there are more changes on the horizon.
Developing
Update: Press release just went out that says COO Stewart Lyons will be taking over as the new CEO. Plus, big news regarding subscriber numbers. Mobilicity is a private company and has never revealed their subscriber numbers until now. A huge 250,000 customers have signed up. This puts them just behind WIND Mobile with 358,000, and ahead of Public Mobile who has over 150,000. Big news.
Mobilicity Announces Executive Transition
TORONTO, ON November 18, 2011 Mobilicity today announced the appointment of Stewart Lyons as President, replacing Dave Dobbin who is leaving the company to pursue other interests.
In his new role, Lyons will oversee the execution of Mobilicitys strategy as it further transitions from launch to growth phase. Since launching service in Toronto in May of 2010, Mobilicity has attracted over 250,000 customers to join its service and has by far the highest ARPU among the startup new entrants.
Lyons, who was a founding member of Mobilicitys management team, has played a significant role in driving Mobilicitys strategy, customer service orientation and fundraising efforts. Lyons will continue to work closely with the executive management team and John Bitove, who is assuming the role of Executive Chairman, to drive the company forward.
Steve Wozniak gets his Galaxy Nexus straight from the source
Steve Wozniak wanted a Galaxy Nexus, but couldn't find one at a local Best Buy. What's an Apple co-founder to do? Apparently, head on over to the Googleplex and get an early unit from the team in Mountain View. We imagine some of you would-be line squatters will be a little miffed that Woz got the jump on you once again, but knowing Woz, we wouldn't be completely surprised to find him in line at Verizon for his second Android 4.0 smartphone on the day it hits shelves.
(Wozniak is so damn cool, homeboy can do whatever he wants THUMBS UP!)

RIM confirms Bold 9900 bricking issue for ga limited number of customersh
The Bold 9900 is RIMfs best looking and most powerful BlackBerry to-date. Itfs beautifully designed, thin, sports a touchscreen, a QWERTY keyboard, plus has a 1.2GHz processor. Unfortunately, with all that beauty there are some 9900/9930s users out there that are not having much luck. The reason is because their device is not powering, rendering it bricked and unusable. On CNBC last night a RIM spokesperson confirmed that gA limited number of customers have reported an issue where their device does not power onh, and they are gactively working on a software update to resolve this issueh. Therefs no word on how many users are included in the glimited number of customersh, nor how or when a fix can be expected. Users on CrackBerry and the official BlackBerry Support Forum are stating that gif the battery drains completely and is then recharged it (I think) short circuits the phoneh. If this is happening to you, make sure you use the warranty RIM gives you.
(Sound like a capacitor failure.)
One of our old skool TA had another issue, two days after launch we went for dinner. His 9900 got a "sim error" while idling on the table, he force rebooted it and sent it into boot loop for hours. So far that hasn't happened again.

Some iPhone 4S Users Complaining About SIM Card Issues
If complaints by iPhone 4S users of poor battery life and audio bugs were not enough, TUAW reports that some of them are facing a peculiar problem where their iPhone 4S stops recognizing their SIM cards.
Based on this discussion thread on Apple support forums, users are reporting that they receive an error message on their iPhone 4S_stating that they either have no SIM card installed or their SIM is invalid.
TUAW reports:
This issue doesnt appear to be isolated to any one carrier or model of iPhone 4S, and its been happening to quite a few users since the handset launched. So far, the only sure-fire solution to the issue seems to be getting a replacement SIM from your carrier and swapping out the old one.
Its not clear if this is a hardware issue specific to the iPhone 4S, a software bug in iOS, a bad batch of SIMs across multiple carriers, or some unlikely combination of the three.
Herere some of the solutions that seem to have worked for some users after scanning through the discussion thread:
Rebooting the iPhone
Ejecting and re-inserting the SIM
If iPhone 4S is hotter than usual, turn it off and let it cool down
Get a new replacement micro SIM from your carrier (you can also try this if you are getting the error frequently)
If none of these solutions work or it is happening to frequently, it may be a good idea to visit an Apple Store and get it checked.
(Sounds like a US problem, spotty coverage causing overheating of the antenna + sim prongs)
The competition: Galaxy Nexus brings the heat, beating iOS 5 in browser speed tests, but falling in OpenGL Benchmarks
The first Ice Cream Sandwich handset, the Galaxy Nexus, hit the UK this week (US launch coming soon) and AnandTech has benchmarked the ICS/Galaxy Nexus combo vs. the iPhone 4S/iOS 5 combo. The Galaxy Nexus processor/GPU isnt groundbreaking by any means, but the new software inside is certainly packing a punch beating iOS in a few key areas. As seen in the graph to the right, the Galaxy Nexus has a slightly faster tested browser than the iPhone 4S a crucial day-to-day necessity for users.
The Galaxy Nexus also comes up with the win in JavaScript loading, bringing faster load times than the Droid RAZR and iPhone 4S. Dont think the Galaxy Nexus is going to come away with everything, however. Both Apples iPhone 4S and iPad 2 outperform the Galaxy Nexus in GPU loading which is limited by its slower SGX 540 underneath. Thats an important consideration for gaming.
The Galaxy Nexuss hardware has been dubbed very smooth compared to older versions of Android. Google is activating 550,000 Android devices a day and is still behind iOS in total Activations at 200 million total.
(Remember, Android's browser is an open source project of Safari)

A story I must share: be safe when buying or selling on Kijiji
I found this ad the other day, some dude got robbed and this didn't happen to me. Please be safe everyone
So I had a brand new iPhone 4s 16g in black for sale, and I put up my number so buyers can contact me. So this guy called me last night around 8:15pm with UNKNOWN NUMBER asking for the phone, and he said he would pickup it after he was done work at 9pm. So he called me again with UNKNOWN NUMBER at around 9pm and ask me for the address , and i gave him my house address. So he was at my door like 30minutes after which was around 9:30pm, and he called me still with UNKNOWN NUMBER said he was in front, so I came out to open the garage door for him, but I didn't see any car just except for our 2 cars in the drive way, then I came out to the driveway but still didn't see him. So I thought he might be in a different house , coz it was dark , not easy to look for the house number. But then suddenly he appeared right behind me and said " hi". So I asked him where his car was, he said he took the bus to come here. It was cold last night , so i told him to come inside the garage. And It was dark outside so i just slightly glanced at him and walking back inside the garage. He was about 1.75meters, and wearing all black. That was all I could describe him. So when we got inside, I just put the phone on the shelf for him to check, and he quickly just grabbed it and run away not even in 1 second. He was really quick and run fast across the street. I was really shock , but could not do anything except for yelling loud.
So beware buyers, please look carefully for the serial numbers or imei numbers on the phone when you buy. I already report with police and called Fido to lock this phone, so the phone can not be used.
Please beware sellers, don't deal with any one in the evening, and dont let them get inside your property, it is totally not safe at all. Those kinds of thefts they can do anything to you and your family and run away.
