I have a bad feeling the 4 series of iPhones may be the last to have the ability to jailbreak. It seems Apple is coming closer and closer to to finally shutting the door to the jailbreaking community. As time progresses, the ability to JB is becoming hard enough to the point where no one will put in the effort.
It will be a shame as JBing allows for the full potential of Apple's products to be utilized.

Ac1dSn0w is a New Utility to Jailbreak iOS 5
PwnDevTeam has released a beta of Ac1dSn0w, a new utility to jailbreak the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 1, and iPod touch 4G on iOS 5.
I'm pleased to announce that we've just released Beta 1 of Ac1dSn0w for Mac OS X Lion (should also work on Snow Leopard). Ac1dSn0w allows you to jailbreak your iDevice tethered. It also provides features like Tethered Boot, Pwned DFU, and Exit Recovery to get your device out of Recovery Loop.
The team has posted the following steps to using their new utility.
1. Download Ac1dSn0w from [Here] [Mirror]
2. After downloading, open it and you'll see the following screen:
Note: You can click 'Show Console' to see some device related information. It also shows you the current state of your jailbreaking process. The Assistant Panel helps you to put your device into DFU Mode.
3. Connect your device with your Mac.
4. Turn your device off.
5. Click 'Show Assistant' and follow the onscreen instructions to enter DFU Mode.
6 . Once you're in DFU Mode just hit the 'Jailbreak' Button and wait until it's done (the device will reboot).
7. Put your device again into DFU Mode (Step 5) and hit the 'Tethered Boot' Button.
Done: Your device should now be jailbroken with Cydia installed.
Hit the link below to learn more about the utility.
Pwn Dev Team's Recently Released Jailbreak Tool Ac1dSn0w Infringes Copyright Laws
Apparently the recently released jailbreak tool, Ac1dsn0w, which was recently released by the Pwn Dev Team infringes upon Apple’s code. The jailbreak tool allows for a tethered jailbreak of any iOS 5.0 or iOS 5.0.1 iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G, or iPad 1. It comes with similar tools to other jailbreaking tools and allows you to boot tethered as well as jailbreak.
Through the use of Apple’s code, the tool is able to perform a tethered boot without requiring the IPSW in the first place. MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team recently mentioned that hosting this jailbreak tool can lead to "DMCA takedowns". In light of its patent infringement, the links to the tool have been remove from ModMyi as we do not condone any illegal activity.
It isn't confirmed how long the jailbreak tool will remain up for but we would imagine that Apple will get it removed shortly given the situation. The tool is said to have directly embedded 15 complete Apple programs including multiple iBSS, iBEC, and kernels. We can't imagine Apple letting this slide for too long and would suggest steering clear. Instead, it is suggested to stick to the iPhone Dev Team’s RedSn0w jailbreak tool or iH8sn0w’s Sn0wbreeze jailbreak tool instead. (You can use the ModMyi Jailbreak Assistant to help out here)
We'll keep everyone updated on the status of Ac1dsn0w as it is likely that more news regarding its infringement and availability will come in the near future.

Chinese rival puts heat on RIM for key African sales
The Chinese are coming, and they’re taking dead aim at one of BlackBerry’s most lucrative markets.
After racking up huge sales in its debut in the African smartphone market this year, Chinese manufacturer Huawei is planning a full-scale assault next year on South Africa – a key market for Research In Motion Ltd. (RIM-T16.98-0.02-0.12%)
With its cheap $100 Android-powered devices and its alliance with Kenya’s leading mobile phone company, Huawei was able to capture more than 50 per cent of Kenyan smartphone sales this year, from a standing start.
As it expands across Africa, the Chinese company could begin to erode BlackBerry sales, even without targeting the high-end corporate market where BlackBerry is still strong. Many African consumers are reconsidering their commitment to BlackBerry after the three-day outage that shut down service to BlackBerry users last month – just at a time when BlackBerry was beginning to seize control of the African smartphone market.
Africa has emerged this year as one of RIM’s fastest-growing revenue generators. Shipments of its BlackBerry devices in Africa soared by an astounding 741 per cent, year-over-year, in the third quarter of this year, according to research firm Canalys.
Within the African continent, one of the biggest consumer markets is South Africa, where BlackBerry already dominates the smartphone sector, with an estimated 60 to 65 per cent of the country’s monthly sales this year.
South African research firm World Wide Worx estimates there are more than 2.5 million BlackBerry devices in South Africa, nearly half of the total number of 6 to 7 million smartphones in Africa’s wealthiest country.
Even if BlackBerry continues to dominate sales to business executives here, it could be vulnerable in the cheaper end of the South African market. Many of its customers were lured in by a fixed-price fee of about $7 a month for unlimited data and messaging, which is especially attractive for young people who are addicted to instant text messaging.
BlackBerry Messenger became the fastest-growing social network in South Africa in the second half of this year. Teenagers often bought BlackBerry devices for instant messaging and then dragged their parents into the market. But this popularity could be eroded by the imminent arrival of low-cost Huawei devices and the simmering anger over the BlackBerry outage in October.
“Huawei will try to shake up the market,” said Arthur Goldstuck, head of World Wide Worx. “There’s no question that the momentum of BlackBerry will slow down next year. It will remain the dominant brand for the months to come, through the first half of next year, but not beyond that.”
Mr. Goldstuck predicts that BlackBerry’s slippage will accelerate in South Africa in 2013. A large number of its two-year contracts will come up for renewal in the second half of next year, and many customers may switch to Huawei or other competitors, he said.
BlackBerry’s big advantage is that it remains the “aspirational brand” in Africa, a status that Huawei is unlikely to threaten, he said. But RIM must ramp up its application options and improve its operating system, or its users will become increasingly frustrated, Mr. Goldstuck said.
Huawei, meanwhile, has also entered the Nigerian market in the second half of this year, using a $1-million advertising campaign to promote its smartphones to Africa’s most-populous country. And it plans to enter at least six more African countries in the near future.
Huawei has already risen to become one of the world’s top sellers of network equipment. Now it is expanding into cellphones and tablets, and it aims to become one of the world’s top five cellphone makers within the next five years. It has forecast sales of 60 million cellphones this year, including 15 million smartphones.
Nigeria, with its huge population, will be a valuable market for whichever company wins the battle. So far, BlackBerry has been the leader. Its fashionable status was symbolized by a new “Nollywood” movie, BlackBerry Babes, about the lifestyles and relationships of the nouveaux riches.
Mobile phone use has exploded in Africa over the past decade, with more than half of its billion people now owning cellphones. But many Africans are now switching to smartphones. In South Africa, for example, smartphone sales will overtake the sales of ordinary cellphones within the next 18 months, Mr. Goldstuck said.
In a bid to exploit this trend, RIM is introducing cheaper, smaller versions of its Bold and Curve models, specifically aimed at booming markets like Indonesia, Nigeria, Thailand and the Philippines. Some of its devices are priced as low as $200 in Indonesia, where RIM has already sold 6 million devices.
Apple’s Black Friday Retail Store Sales were “off the charts”
A source inside Apple Retail has shared with us the numbers for Apple’s Black Friday sales event. Black Friday is always huge shopping day and Apple forecasted at least 4X sales for the day. However, because Apple did have the lowest prices on big ticket items like the iPad, it blew away forecasts by 7PM and unsurprisingly had its biggest sales day of all time..
Apple Retail was forecast and broke Retail sales records all over the country today, this is from [redacted] today, the forecast today is more than 4 times what we normally do. We broke the forecast by 7pm.
MacBook Air sales were also particularly strong according to our source.
Apple Store discounts are extremely rare and with more Stores open than ever before, the temptation was too much for many.

During the time when both platforms branch off to their own dedicated thread, I didn't post any of their news on this thread. (You guys can match the time line if you like lol)
Soon after I've noticed how behind the other threads were when it came to support and general news, sometimes it was weeks behind. Honestly, it takes 2-3 secs to copy and paste any article in these threads. Back in 2008 when the iPhone and FW 2.0 didn't have copy and paste, I still went out of my way to post it up asap. During this time, it was troll fest and no one here can defend them self, due to the lack of knowledge and the only way to educate them was to post a little of everything. It's always good to know what's going on with the entire industry.
I can post every single bug fix and etc for all platforms, but I rather take care of my own ppl and nothing going change in this thread, end of story.
(I don't even know why many of the BB and Android users post here, you should guys be more activate and helping up your own threads.)
Galaxy Nexus volume bug fix released, download the ROM now
The fix for the Galaxy Nexus' volume bug in the UK is now out and ready to download. Only thing is it's not coming from Google or Samsung, but from our good friend Paul O'Brien over at MoDaCo. He describes the software as the official version undergoing internal testing and has put together new ROMs integrating the fix (there's both a stock and a custom enhanced version). As usual with custom ROMs, we advise making sure you know what you're doing before you start flashing your device. Paul says that the tweaked boot images work great, but that doesn't guarantee they won't cause your phone to go thermonuclear. If you're brave (and impatient) enough to give them a try, hit the links below for the download and installation instructions.
(Still unofficially not fixed yet, but good to see whats going on and hope it's gonna be faster then the previous bug fixes by Google. Bug fixes for the Nexus S took about 3 months to deploy, a bit too long IMO)

Panel judged Operating System of the Year winner: Windows Phone 7
Inspired by Metro signage, the Windows Phone User interface provides users with an easily customisable start screen, which is focused on putting people first.
Stepping away from the sea of isolated uninformative icons used by
other smartphone OS', Windows Phone integrates the user experience to
deliver smarter and easier communications, apps and Internet experiences.
These integrated experiences come from third party developers and from across Microsoft's suite of products including Xbox LIVE, Microsoft Office 2010, Zune, Windows Live, Bing and more.
Our judges said:
‘It has the most potential, with a unique interface and a rapidly growing apps selection. It has a great looking UI and doesn't look like Android or iOS.'
‘A massive move from the previous OS. Huge growth in apps and the system looks heaps better than the competition.'
‘Innovative interface, with more success to come.'
‘A refreshing OS that doesn't try and copy other operating systems. Has attracted a large number of developers too.'
The runner ups on this category were Blackberry 7 and Samsung Bada.
With just two weeks of sales, iPhone 4S steals Android market share in the UK as iOS becomes bestselling smartphone platform in October
A recent survey conducted by GoodMobilePhones.co.uk of 1,694 Brits aged 18 and over made waves with claims that as much as 22 percent of U.K. owners regret the purchase of iPhone 4S over battery life and jealousy of rival smartphones. What happened instead, research firm Kantar Worldpanel ComTech claims, was that the device went on to steal Android market share in the United Kingdom.
According to the findings of the research note, Apple’s U.K. handset market share in the quarter leading up to the end of October climbed to 27.8 percent, a 2.8 percentage point increase, while Android dropped from 49.9 percent to 46 percent. Looking only at October sales, Apple won a cool 42.8 percent of all handset sales during the month versus 35 percent of October sales for Android phones…
Mind you, if the GoodMobilePhones.co.uk survey is accurate and should unsatisfied U.K. iPhone 4S buyers return the device, Apple’s share in the country might diminish as a result. Another tidbit: three-quarters of iPhone 4S buyers had previously owned an iPhone and more than one in seven people, or fourteen percent, were upgrading from the iPhone 4. Apple was able to accomplish this feat in just two weeks as the handset went on sale simultaneously in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, France, Germany and Japan on October 14.
Apple iPhone spontaneously combusts aboard flight in Australia
An Apple iPhone spontaneously began smoking and emitting a red glow while aboard an airplane in Australia. Passengers aboard Regional Express flight ZL319 were welcomed to their destination in Sydney, Australia on Friday by a frightening ordeal. According to the airline, a passenger’s iPhone began “emitting a significant amount of dense smoke” shortly after the flight landed, and the smoke was accompanied by a red glow. A flight attendant extinguished the device and no passengers or airline staff were injured according to the airline. The phone in question appears to be an iPhone 4 (pictured above) as opposed to the new iPhone 4S model, and it has been collected by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau as part of its investigation. Regional Express’ full press release follows below.

iOS 5.1 goes Beta
Apple outs new iPad (iPad 2,4) in iOS 5.1 firmware
In the just released beta of iOS 5.1, Apple has outed yet another new device. We recently brought you the first references to the upcoming, faster Apple TV internally dubbed 3,1, and now we have iPad 2,4 on our hands. With references to iPad 3,1 and 3,2 – likely the new iPads launching in March – having appeared months ago, we’re thinking this iPad 2,4 is the Sprint version that Apple recently completed work on. We’ll have to see if Apple ends up releasing that Sprint iPad 2 with the rumored March iPad 3 launch quickly approaching.
Police are warning TTC riders to be careful when they pull out their cellphones.
Officers in 42 Division are launching Project Rope, warning commuters to watch for grab-and-runs of cellphones and other handheld electrical devices.
Police say TTC riders are being targeted while exiting or waiting to board a bus. They say suspects are grabbing the device right out of victims’ hands, sometimes luring them into pulling out a phone by asking for the time.
“You have to be so diligent when looking after phones,” says Const. Gary Gomez. “We always tell people to be aware of their surroundings.”
Officers were riding TTC buses Monday night to provide riders with safety tips to protect their personal property and enhance their awareness of crime prevention.
Police say the campaign is not a response to any suspected increase of such incidents

Next Gen iPhone Code Found - iPhone 5,1
We’ve already spilled out an iPad 2,4 and the next-generation Apple TV codename tonight, and now we have, perhaps, the most important find of all: iPhone 5,1. That’s right, the next version of the iPhone is has been dubbed 5,1 internally. A new 4,x model would represent minor external changes, but nothing new on the inside in terms of processing power. For example, the iPhone 3G went from the original iPhone’s 1,1 to 1,2 because there were no internal speed and performance enhancements, just 3G and a GPS.
This comes right after the iPhone 4Ss 4,1 identifier. The jump from 4,1 to 5,1 represents major internal changes, meaning the iPhone 5/6 will pack in a brand-new processor. The A6 in all likelihood. Rumored additions for externals are a 4 inch display and a new aluminum casing. Apple just released the iPhone 4S in October, and it is yet to be seen if this new iPhone will come next October or in the summer as rumored. With the 5,1 reference appearing this early, we like to think the latter.
