Pretty sure it restricts you to within a certain radius.
That being said, you can get sorta close to the summit and check in anyways. |

Sweet... as long as I'm willing to sacrifice a few fingers to frostbite, I should reach the summit by morning.
I figured there might be some way to hack around it. I've got a few choice locations I'd like to check into. |

Report: Future iPad, iPhone to have Qualcomm chips

Is Apple moving to a new wireless chipset supplier for the next iPad and iPhone?
An unnamed but "reliable" source is quoted by Engadget today saying that Apple is going to ditch the current Infineon chipsets used in both devices and move to Qualcomm instead. The report seems entirely plausible.
Verizon already let it slip that it's going to have an iPad that runs on its network. It's very likely that will be for its CDMA network, and not LTE. The current iPad model only works on GSM networks. Apple probably doesn't want to have to make two different iPads the way it's currently making two different models of iPhone (one with GSM chips for AT&T et al., and one with CDMA for Verizon and perhaps other future carrier partners), so switching to a chipset that allows the device to connect to both networks would be smart. Qualcomm has that, or is going to, very soon.
It's long been rumored Apple would eventually start shipping a dual-mode iPhone--a report that the iPhone 5 would work on GSM and CDMA networks hit back in October--so going that way with both of its flagship mobile products makes a lot of sense.
Engadget also notes that while the next iPad won't have a USB port, it will have an SD card slot, and has some images of what it would look like.

This is interesting. If this is true, it will work on all networks in Canada and we can take advantage of all the competition between the networks!!
Iphone is really the only phone im comfortable with, but Im always stuck choosing between the big three. But come this summer, things will change!! |

Sorry to rain on your parade once again ... I'm so suprised you don't understand the term "CDMA" after my little post about Verizon's IP4.
If the next generation iPhone uses that chipset, it's gonna be a PCS/HSPA + CDMA phone only. There's no mention of AWS bands at all and even if there was .... do you really want it?
AWS 1700 / 2100
A) Only a minor percentage of the world uses the AWS bands, have fun roam with an unlocked AWS phone. Only "if" that carrier has roaming agreements, with whatever region you're planning to travel to.
B) Unless you live, work or hang out next to places that have tower provided by the "competition", you won't even have a stable signal indoors. Since the 1700 band does not penetrate through concrete and other materials we use for our homes, saving a few bucks a month will be your worst nightmare.
This is why everyone is fighting for 700 mhz bands for 4G LTE, it's going to save a lot of money and won't be needing so many sites to provide the most incredible speeds and service to date.
Regarding you trying to leave the big three, it's gonna take many many many years until the "competition" can do any type of serious damage. I've been with Rogers for almost 9 years, and treatment I get from them is outstanding. Only recently, I've been annoyed with them, due to the policy changes from our dear friend Nadir Mohammad. Let's do a little test ... someone here give the retention dept of Bellus a call and see what kind of treatment and service you get with those guys? I can guarantee that call is not going to last long at all. |

i am not really well versed in the technological stuff of the networks. I thought there was only CDMA and GSM lol

NP dude, this is confusing tbh. I also thought there was only two types, until I really started looking really deep into other carriers around the world.
The only phone I know that has all bands for PCS/ HSPA/ AWS is the BB9700.
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
HSDPA 900 / 1700 / 2100
Thanks to Verizon, we won't see any iPhones made for AWS networks and especially with this new chipest.
No was the gonna pack a PCS/ HSPA/ AWS/ CDMA radios into on thin phone. |

Don't feel bad about not knowing this type of info, but you do have to pay attention when someone explains these things to you.
My sister ditched Rogers for Mobilicity b/c of the "unlimited" $40 bait, I clearly explained everything of everything to her and she did not listen at all.
Now reaching her is almost impossible, b/c she lives in Markham and the signal strength is flaky up there. Most of the time she has no service or gets continuous drop calls.
(That's what you get for not listening to me and giving me the lecture of " I don't care to learn about the technical aspect of these things, I hate Rogers with so much passion") |
