MuscleNerd, member of the iPhone Dev team revealed this on Twitter:
@adiazrulnizam redsn0w+PwnageTool using @i0n1c's 4.3.1 untether (except iPad2) are on track for Funday release (USA time)
@HaouasLeDocteur "Sunday is a Funday" meme is something we started 2 years ago :) http://is.gd/OtzzSn -- Sundays are good release days :) |

iOS 4.3.1 Jailbreak
If you've been waiting for a nice, easy jailbreak solution for iOS 4.3.1, then today's your lucky day: Dev-Team's just released redsn0w 0.9.6rc9 for both Windows and OS X, allowing us mere mortals to free our supported devices -- iPhone 3GS, 4 (GSM); iPod touch 3G, 4G; iPad 1; and Apple TV 2G -- with a few simple clicks. Alas, there are a couple of caveats: the iPad 2 isn't supported here, as Cupertino has somehow managed to tighten up its security to fend off hackers (for now); and ultrasn0w users have also been told to hang tight until there's a compatibility fix -- Dev-Team will announce on Twitter when this becomes available. As for those who are eligible for this new jailbreak, head over to Dev-Team's website for the download links, and make sure you have the corresponding IPSW files handy as well -- you can find them over at iClarified or on your favorite search engine.
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]
(Cydia 1.1 is very nice and smooth) |

Last week I upgraded my 3GS to iOS 4.3.1 and went legit once again. I was very unimpressed with the speed of the upgrade (serious lagging!) and, so, I decided that I wished to downgrade back to iOS 3.1.3. I successfully managed the downgrade by following this guide: http://jaxov.com/2011/03/downgrade-...2-how-to-guide/
The only mistake I made is that I forgot to backup my contacts, pictures, etc. before downgraded (doh!).
Also, I had to reconfigure my APN network settings (Bell) in order to get 3G connectivity working once again. |

Didn't you check your Windows Address Book? Your contacts should be sync'ed with Windows ... if you checked that off.
Anything before 4.2.1 doesn't not the dreaded internal baseband checkers. |

How do I find that program (or its new replacement) on Windows 7? |

Start> Search> "Contacts"
iTunes> iPhone> "usersname of the device" info> sync contacts
Did you read on my FB reply last week? |

| So I went ahead and made the move to 4.3.1 this morning.. I tried restoring from a backup and it's definitely noticeably slower. Once I get back on solid ground I'll do a fresh install via PwnageTool and see if that helps. |

Apple getting serious about Store security

According to CBS8 and Signonsandiego, an Apple Store Security guard shot a suspected intruder in the head.
Chula Vista police said three people smashed the window to break into the Apple Store in Otay Ranch Town Center early Monday and were confronted by an armed security guard, who shot one of the intruders in the head.
The mortally injured man was found in the mall parking lot a short distance away, collapsed in his car, Chula Vista police said.
