PwnageTool To Jailbreak iOS 4.1 For iPhone, iPod Touch And iOS 3.2.2 For iPad Coming Soon
MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team has published a video that shows an iPad being jailbroken using PwnageTool that makes use of Geohot’s USB exploit used in limera1n.
PwnageTool is useful for users who want to jailbreak and also unlock their iPhone as it allows users to update their iPhone with a pre-jailbroken iOS firmware while preserving the baseband so that it can be unlocked.
PwnageTool is even more eagerly awaited currently as the baseband that’s included in iOS 4.1 cannot be unlocked.
So even though limera1n and greenpois0n are currently available to jailbreak iOS 4.1, the Dev Team had advised users to wait for the PwnageTool to upgrade to pre-jailbroken iOS 4.1.
iPhone 4 users can also use Tiny Umbrella if they want to upgrade to iOS 4.1 to preserve the baseband so that they can unlock it using Ultrasn0w after jailbreaking their iPhone using limera1n or greenpois0n. iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G users please be careful, Tiny Umbrella does not support this feature for your iPhone.

iPhone Dev Team is expected to release PwnageTool for iOS 4.1 for iPhone and iPod Touch and iOS 3.2.2 for iPad on Sunday. PwnageTool is available only for Mac users. iH8sn0w, developer of Sn0wbreeze, which is the Windows version of the PwnageTool has also announced that he will be releasing a new version of Sn0wbreeze that makes use of the limera1n exploit after PwnageTool for Mac is released.

White iPhone 4 spotted, explained?
Blog Pocket-lint managed to bird-dog a jacketed-gentlemen at a New York City press event carrying a white iPhone 4. The albino iPhone was promised way back in June, but has yet to actually be released by iMaker Apple, Inc. The publication queried said iPhone user as to how he came to acquire the seemingly un-acquirable and his responses were quite candid. According to the anonymous man in the suede jacket, Apple has hordes of white iPhone 4s in their Cupertino headquarters; the iPhone-owner has a friend who works for Apple who managed to pick one up for him. The person went on to say that the reason the iPhone 4 is so back-logged is due to the fact that the white paint used on the “home” button and the white paint used on the case of the iPhone 4 do not match. Apple will not release the product as is. Sad for all those iPeople that love white phones. We’ve reached out to Apple for comment and will update the article if they respond.

After testing out Limerain & Greenpoison at least 3x each, I've decided to stick with legit. There's really nothing to look forward to jailbreaking anymore for me and almost everything has been answered by Apple. All the limitations that's dealing with 3G data, Apple doesn't care TBH. The IP4 now uses 4x-6x more data then everyone else and these limitation are to save all the carriers worldwide from burning down.
1) MyWi - I have no laptap for now.
(We'll see after 10.20.10 - "might" get the new Airbook or the iPad2, or maybe none of them since they're so pricey)
2) 3G Unrestictor - It's pretty good
(The newest ver of 2.3, which was updated yesterday; still has an annoying FaceTime over 3G walk around, but overall it's pretty good)
3) Visual mods - Never really got into them that deep
(No need for Winterboard & the slowdowns)
4) Custom SMS alerts - Thumbs up for this one
(I like using the OEM alerts for now, since I've been using custom SMS alerts for 2 years. iOS 4.2 is gonna give us 17 slots to play around with *Crossing my fingers for the final ver*)
5) Cracked Apps - Thumbs down for this one
(I've noticed with the new games made for Retina displays, they're normally $0.99 and if you can't afford that ... I have no respect for you. The major game consoles companies are still not updated and don't know if they're going to update for retina display. It's not worth paying $9.99 for Sonic 4, SF4 & MGST anymore. I don't feel like playing them without Retina Display enabled and cracked or legit, it's a waste of space on my IP4. Plus redownloading, losing game saves and data for Game centre is a pain in the ass. Jailbreaking shouldn't be your main focus if you want cracked apps, they should just kill that patch.*Heads up for "Black Friday" sales coming next month, last year MGST was $0.99!*)
6) SBSsettings - Forgot about this, thanks Rob.
With the Multitasking dock and saved locations, hunting down takes 2 clicks to toggle off whatever and re-launching settings from the dock will bring you back to the exact location where you toggled off.
I've noticed a performance slowdown w/ jailbreaking, even though it's only minor for all my stuff I've loaded and it does get worse with more stuff I add from Cydia. I've tested it for at least an hour and didn't like the minor slowdowns. I never did care about that until recently, we all went through hell with the 3G on iOS4. Fast forward to present time, the 3GS units are feeling the pain and next year w/ iOS5 "this changes everything. again" <--- regarding performance speeds
I will be using Tiny Umbrella to save my SHSH blogs and preserving my basebands, just incase I need to unlock for travelling.
(Thank God I learned how to restore from an "image" back up that's saved within my iTunes. This back up is an untouched, unjailborken and fully OEM'ed iOS that can't be tampered with lol. Can't imagine I had to setup all that 6x within that last week)
Edit: Just got my first crash / frozen screen. I was copying & pasting SMS msg to send to someone and during the editing, it just froozed on me.
Greenpoison final ver, Cydia apps 3G untrestrictor and ssh uninstalled. I was testing something w/ jailbreaking today

As much as I like how some mod with wintboard, Im not gonna go there again with this device.
But, I use MiWi every day. Its faster than tethering with the usb cable. And more convenient, phone can be in my pocket while I bring my laptop all over the shop where I work because Im mobile throughout the day.
3g Unrestrictor is awesome. I use it for Di FM, and now facetime, which works flawlessly BTW.
SB toggle is also an amazing add on to the Iphone. A quick swipe and you have access to turning on of off a lot of features. I also like being able to clean up background running apps with it and renewing available memory in the device.
Small but nice thing for me is some of the ringtones I use are found on cydia. I realize i could have found some sound files and edited them to be ringtone files but whatever, this is easy and painless and i like how I set my phone up for sounds.
I like ifile, its handy for tweeking things on the phone.
As of this moment, I dont have a single cracked app on my device. But Im much happier being able to tweek things within the phone so the jailbreak is something I would always want to do, even so just for the fact i CAN do what I want to the phone instead of being locked out.

Here's how 3G Unretictor 2.3 been tweaked for FaceTime.
IP4 - A (3G Unrestrictor)
IP4 - B (Wifi)
If "B" FaceTime "A" = Will not work
If "B" Calls "A" and "A" launches the FaceTime convo = works
If "A" Facetime "B" = works
"A" has to be the one launching the FaceTime invite no matter what, to get this working. You can get "B" to Facetime "A", only if "A" turns on his Wifi toggle (Doesn't need to be connected to any networks), but it's pointless b/c we moving back to 2.2.1 methods.
Facetime over 3G is kinda pointless right now.
3G to Wifi = perfect
3G to 3G = horrible and unusable
If 3G to 3G was smooth as wifi, that would be amazing.
Other apps like Fring, Tango and etc .... horrible & doesn't work most of the time.

Using 3G Unrestrictor for DI as premium member boost your bandwith to 256K MP3 quality. Premium account cost quite a lot per month, but worth it if you really love your tunes.

Tango is , I agree.
Maybe its different cause the persons I were talking to were on wifi, but from my end, everything was good and stable using 3g.

I've tested with two IP4s in August side by side and down the road. Even had my buddy @ Rogers to trace the calls and montior how much bandwith each unit is using.

3G Unrestrictor updated for FaceTime
FaceTime while driving, this was only for test purposes and should never be used on a daily bases. The IP4 is mounted on a windshield mount, but there's no excuse for this ... when you get pulled over.
Starting today, 3G Unrestrictor allows you to make and receive FaceTime calls over 3G wherever you are!
3G Unrestrictor allows you to go around the iPhone's limitations and restrictions of not being able to use some applications like FaceTime, Skype or SlingPlayer while on a mobile internet connection like 3G or EDGE as well as many other things.
(Came out on 08.05.10???? WTF LOL See what happens when your Jailbreaking forum goes offline for weeks?)
Here are the results
3G to Wifi = Perfect
3G to 3G = 1 sec delays with audio and 0.5 secs of Video
Data = Uses the same amount as streaming Youtube. (Confirmed by a little bird over @ Rogers Data Testing Centre)
