Facebook 3.0 for iPhone Coming Soon. Push Notification Coming Later

Whether the idea of push notification for the iPhone Facebook app makes you want to do a happy dance, or just run screaming for the delete button, according to a recently published note, you won’t be getting it in the 98% completed Facebook 3.0 anyway:
Push Notifications, is in development but it won’t make it into 3.0. You can expect it in a 3.1 update later this summer.
So what will Facebook 3.0 bring? The “new” news feed, ability to “like” status, events with rsvp, notes, pages, better photo management and browsing, a new home screen, fixed comment notifications, SMS and call from friends screen, and auto-save so incoming calls don’t kill your unfinished messages.
Apple patching nasty iPhone SMS vulnerability

Given the hype surrounding Apple's iPhone, we're actually surprised that we haven't seen more holes to plug over the years. In fact, the last major iPhone exploit to take the world by storm happened right around this time two years ago, and now -- thanks to OS X security expert Charlie Miller -- we're seeing yet another come to light. Over at the SyScan conference in Singapore, Mr. Miller disclosed a hole that would let attackers "run software code on the phone that is sent by SMS over a mobile operator's network in order to monitor the location of the phone using GPS, turn on the phone's microphone to eavesdrop on conversations, or make the phone join a distributed denial of service attack or a botnet." Charlie's planning to detail the vulnerability in full at the upcoming Black Hat conference, but Apple's hoping to have it all patched up by the end of this month.
*************************
Watch out niggaz! Some of the ppl on my hacker board are making the SMS as we speak, lol
"You need to send shellcode in assembly language. Go and learn some ARM assembly if you want to use this exploit. It should be sent in hex like this:
/x90/x90/x90
That wouldnt do anything though, its just an example. Its x86 assembly for 3 no operation commands. "
Gonna be sending this out to ppl once they complete it :p |

Geohot releases his own iPhone 3GS jailbreak

Deciding that waiting around for the Dev-Team to release its iPhone 3GS jailbreak solution is for chumps, original iPhone unlocker Geohot has released his own jailbreaking method, with the help of chronic dev and a few others, that he has dubbed purplera1n. Best. Name. Ever. As it stands, purplera1n only supports Windows rigs (Windows 7 and 64-bit excluded) but OS X support is on the way. Hit the read link to grab a copy of purplera1n and get all the instructions you’ll need to get your Cydia fix on. And happy jailbreaking!
P.S. We’ve heard that ultrasn0w works, but it is a bit flaky for the time being.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in!
Respectz:
He made the original iPhone Jailbreak
No Respectz:
For releasing this jailbreak so soon, there's a reason why Dev-Team waited their jailbreak. Apple is goona launch 3.1 by the end of the month ... now they can fix up the iboot loader, the holes and everyone is screwed when the next new shipments of the 3GS |

GREAT WORK APPLE!
Apple blames hot iPhones on the weather, others find oleophobic screen to be fleeting?

Don't worry, everybody, your iPhone baking itself to a crisp is no cause for panic, now that Apple has found the culprit: the weather and your heartless negligence. Apparently you've been leaving your brand new iPhone 3GS in a hot car, and the warm sensation you feel any time you hold the phone has nothing to do with beefed up processors or inadequate cooling. Phew, glad that's all sorted and now nobody will have any problems with self-destructive iPhones they paid hundreds of dollars for. Besides, it serves you right.
Meanwhile, hapless Samsas Traum has found a problem of his own (pictured) that's sure to be blamed on some other act of god in the near future by Apple's spin team: the oleophobic coating is getting rubbed right off his screen. Apparently he has a bit of a fondness for a certain "Flick Fishing" app, which explains the highly localized nature of his oleophobic destruction. We haven't heard many other reports of a similar nature, but we'll keep an eye out for telltale Tap Tap Revenge markings on the iPhones of our rhythm-addled loved ones.

White iPhone 3GS reportedly overheats, turns a browner shade of white

Right after its launch, we noted the sundry problems reported by new iPhone 3GS owners, but this is the first time we've heard tell of this specific one... and it seems like a doozy. It's unclear exactly what caused this, but what is apparent is an unattractive discoloration on the above handset. The user claims it was caused by overheating during a period of using the GPS and 3G of the phone. Either way, it looks pretty crummy now, doesn't it? What about the rest of you with new, white iPhones? Anything to report? One more shot of this looker after the break.

I do have to admit, their customer service is amazing ... hassle free exchange. I should I know, exchanged 7 diff 3G units. |

Decided not going to jailbreak my 3gs with geohots program. There is not voipover3g and tricker3g doesn't work. I'll just wiat until the dev teAm releases their version. Plus there are many bugs reported with the new jailbreak as it's in beta
EDIT: I COULDNT RESIST... I JAILBROKE IT and its SOOO FAST!! cant believe how fast Cydia is now on the 3GS.. Downloaded a few progs from the "source" and its feels good again. Im going to wait and see for an update so i can get Voipover3g working. |

Do you have the 3g, or 3gs? The 3g (3.0)with winterboard feels really slow to me, so i removed it. I'm wondering if im doing anything wrong. |

there's a whole bunch that can track your unit, BUT ... it has to be install before you lose it and some have to be can only be activated if the person looks through your unit. Such as Private-I and bank something something. I really don't know for the legit apps |

Using 3GS.
I thought I saw an app that can track it on a PC all the time.
Example: I left my phone in a cab, I could go home and check it's current where-abouts?
What is the current app called you guys are speaking about that is on a non-jailbroken phone?
Thanks guys. |
