87% of Android developers think fragmentation is a problem, survey finds
The debate surrounding Android fragmentation continues to draw attention, and the issue resurfaced on Monday following the results of a recent survey. According to Baird analyst William Powers, roughly 87% of Android developers believe that fragmentation is a problem for the Android platform. 57% feel Android’s fragmentation problem is either “huge” or “meaningful,” and about 30% agree that it is a problem to a lesser degree. Google said this past November that the overwhelming majority of Android devices — 77% — run Android 2.1 or Android 2.2, but developers apparently still feel that the existence of multiple Android versions in the market at the same time is less than ideal. What’s more, the company’s recent decision to provide limited early access to upcoming Android builds for partners whose plans for the software are approved by Google suggests that the company views fragmentation as more of a problem than it might convey publicly.

2 In Custody, 1 Dead After Otay Ranch Town Center Shooting
SAN DIEGO -- A man and a woman were taken into custody and another person was killed Monday morning after a multi-agency response following a shooting at Otay Ranch Town Center in Chula Vista.
Chula Vista police officers and Border Patrol agents responded to the Otay Ranch Town Center in Chula Vista where a shooting happened early Monday roughly around 6:45 a.m.
Two men and woman apparently attempting to rob the Apple Store did a "smash and grab," in which glass doors and windows are broken and merchandise is grabbed quickly, Chula Vista Police Department Capt. Gary Ficacci said.
A private armed security guard interrupted the burglars and at some point, gunfire was exchanged with the two male burglars, who were also armed, Facicci said.
Chula Vista police estimated that 40 rounds were spent in the shootout between the security guard and the burglars.
The two men and their alleged female accomplice then got into a silver Acura that crashed while still inside the shopping center's parking lot, Facicci said, noting that one of the men was driving and he died in the crash. He appears to have been killed by a bullet that went through the passenger window, Chula Vista police said.
Despite some media reports, there were no AK-47s involved in the incident, Chula Vista police said.
The view from Sky10 showed that the main window of the Apple Store was shattered and glass is in front of the building.
It appeared that the other man involved in the shooting might have been shot in the backside. Both he and the woman who fled were taken into custody shortly after 8:00 a.m. at the Aristata at Winding Walk condominium unit development a couple of blocks east of the mall, near Dawn Crest Lane and Birch Road.
Police said the man and woman were in their 20s.
The Apple store has been burglarized before, according to police.
Several schools located near the mall were placed on lockdown because of the incident. The lockdowns were lifted by late morning.

The updated Google app is totally sh*t!
Give this a try, regardless if you're on iOS 4.2.1 or 4.3.1 you will see how poorly designed and memory hogging this app can really be.
Freshly launched or idling in the multitasking dock, watch the launching and closing animation ... compare it to any OEM or 3rd party app.
(I thought it was iOS 4.3.1 caused this for the behavior for the Google app all the time. Time for Apple to seriously start fixing this iOS ver asap, their forums hard flooded with complaints)

Bad news to report ...
Redsnow and Pwnagetool Jailbreaks for iOS 4.3.1 will slowdown your IP4 and 3GS even worse then stock. I've exp some real strange choppy'ness and animation I've never seen before. Also got some typing lag while SMSing and using Beejive.
Personal Suggest for IP4 users.
Jailbreakers - Stay on 4.2.1 and use MyWi
Legit Users - Depending on your Data plan
A) Less then 1GB and w/o Official tethering, I would stay on 4.2.1. Not much of an update since Personal Hotspot can not be enabled for you.
B) 1GB - 6GB Update to 4.3.1 to gain Personal Hotspot if you "need" it. If you don't, I would stay on 4.2.1 until Apple irons out smooth'ness. (Lets hope it will be soon)
For me, I have to stay on 4.3.1 b/c of the new ver of iMovie & Safari's update w/ the nitro JavaScript engine.

Creepy FaceTime Bug
An unusual glitch with FaceTime calling has popped up in the Apple Discussions forum. It appears that for some people FaceTime would bring up a random image, a user wrote:
My boyfriend and I have both recently experienced this problem several times – when one of us is calling the other via FaceTime, an old picture freezes on our screen, while the person receiving the call only sees a black screen. It’s kind of creepy, because it brought up photos of both of us at work, where I have used FaceTime a few times but he never has.
Another poster suggested that the camera seems to be keeping random images that have not been taken before and don’t seem to originate from past FaceTime calls:
Just minutes ago when i called my girlfriend and i saw a “picture” of myself from today when i was at the office. I know it was from today because i had the exact same shirt. The weirdest thing is that picture is not stored on my iPhone.
Judging by the comments, restoring the phone and manually re-installing all the apps doesn’t help. This glitch is bound to raise privacy concerns. I, for one, would not be happy about my iPhone taking pictures of me when I haven’t told it so.
Actually, this reminds me of a similar problem when the original iPhone was released… Back then, eagle-eyed users had found out that the device grabbed a screenshot of the running app when the home button was pressed. This was by design so that the phone could zoom in to the saved screenshot when a user runs the same app again in order to give the appearance of loading more quickly.
The “feature” got substantial air time due to privacy implications. For example, someone could obtain your personal information by grabbing a screenshot of your banking app from the phone’s memory.

^ Yup, not liking that at all

On your iPhone, in Safari,
1. Go to the top of the screen
2. Tap on Google Search box
3. Type in ’tilt’ and tap Search
WHACKY!!

I'm a little new to this but have converted the this ip4 business
ran redsnow on 4.3.1 and its running super smooth. The only program showing a very minor lag is magellan 3d gps but I feels like a really heavy program. Tiger woods 12 ect all working great.

Ditto.
I'm also running a TON of stuff via MobileSubstrate (as is common for me, lol) and there's no real lag that I've noticed. Knock on wood.
