To think of it now ...
The Fido contract stacking is cruel, but it's fair. Why are you even on that network when you're not that ghetto? You want amazing network coverage, speeds, billed per second, reward points for future hardware and pay a cheap price? Sorry the world does not work that way, thats why they want you to port over to Rogers for highend smartphone usage.
I find Fido customers bitch & complain too much. |

Here's some useful apps I've been using after being jailbroken. I know there's some awesome ones that have already been posted, but these are a few I haven't seen posted yet:
*NOTE* You have to be jailbroken to use these and can find them on the Cydia or Rock app.
LockInfo
Displays all your SMS, Mail, Notifications, Missed Calls, Voicemail, Calendar, and Weather on your lock screen. $4.99
20 Sec. Lock Screen
Forces your lock screen to stay lit for 20 seconds (only useful if you have LockInfo or some other type of app on the lock screen). FREE
FastSnap
Enables you to take a picture or video within the default camera app using the volume buttons. $0.99
QuickReply
Enables you to reply or view a text message from within any app without exiting it, as well as from the lock screen (I've found this very useful so far). $2.99 |

This is an AWESOME Jailbroken app, however not as useful now that multitasking is native with iOS4 and when I installed this for my girlfriend and I, it was buggy as all . Mind you, we're both on an iPhone 3G. If you're on iPhone 4 I HIGHLY recommend this. |

International lineups persist for iPhone 4

I went by Apple’s Canadian Flagship store this week and there was a lineup of about 100 people waiting for iPhone 4. Actually, waiting just to see if there’d be a shipment of iPhone 4 so they could lineup for those. Apple staff said it’s been happening every day around 10am. Even some of the smaller stores are seeing dozens of people lining up every morning. Checking with carrier stores it was the same, only they had less stock to begin with. So did the Best Buys and other big boxes. As Apple COO Tim Cook said about the US launch a month earlier, iPhone 4 is selling out as fast as Apple can make and deliver them.
This isn’t launch day. This isn’t artificial supply constraints. This isn’t a product that’s only available in Apple Stores. This is a single phone sold in probably more places than any other phone. It’s on every carrier, it’s in every tele-franchise, it’s in every big box.
Or it would be, if they had stock.
Curiously, Apple hasn’t put out a press release with post-international launch sales numbers, but we’ll keep an eye on next quarter’s result. |

Install PDF Patch On Your Jailbroken iPhone To Fix Security Vulnerability In iOS

Apple released iOS 4.0.2 yesterday to fix the security vulnerability in iOS 4 and iOS 4.0.1 that was used by JailbreakMe – the web-based method to jailbreak iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
Experts had raised concerns that the security vulnerability in iOS could be exploited in a similar way by malicious websites to install malware.
If you have jailbroken your iPhone and don’t want to upgrade to iOS 4.0.2 as you will end up breaking your jailbreak then you will be relieved to know that there is a solution for you.
Jay Freeman (aka Saurik), developer of Cydia, the App Store for jailbreak apps has just released a patch on Cydia to fix the security vulnerability associated with viewing malicious PDF files.
You can follow these instructions to install the PDF patch on your jailbroken iPhone:
•Launch Cydia from your jailbroken iPhone homescreen.
•Tap on the Search tab and search for pdf patch.
•Tap on PDF Exploit from the search results and then tap on the ‘Install’ button.
•Then Tap on the ‘Confirm’ button to install the patch on your iPhone.
Note: If you had installed PDF Loading warner then you don’t have to worry as PDF patch will uninstall it first and then install the fix.
With this you have the best of both worlds, you have patched the security vulnerability that has been fixed by Apple in iOS 4.0.2 and you also get to keep your jailbreak.
Surprisingly, Apple felt that it was important to fix the security vulnerability by releasing a quick patch, it has not released a patch to fix the issue for iPhone 2G and iPod Touch 1G users. So PDF Patch is the only way to fix the patch on the first generation iPhone and iPod Touch, which ironically means you need a jailbroken device.
"Luckily for Apple, the Jailbreak community isn’t so callous. @saurik has been burning the midnight oil coding a Cydia package that will fix the holes for all devices and all firmware versions (even going back to version 2.x!). It will be released very soon, after some more testing is done."

Yeah I haven't had many problems with it, yet lol. Even with multitasking I've found it useful though. Being able to use it from the lockscreen is awesome, and when I'm watching a movie on Google Videos via Safari (yes I do that, while at work haha), it pauses the movie, I reply, then keep going after. Previously it would bring me out of the video and back to the webpage I found it on, then I'd have to start all over at the beginning, which was annoying. |

Thanks man, awesome post. I love that it uninstalls the PDF loading warner then installs this patch, all in one quick install. Very slick :) |

Apple supply manager arrested for wire fraud, money laundering

Ever wonder why -- after years of secrecy -- camera-ready iPod cases began rolling out? The answer could possibly be Apple supply manager Paul Shin Devine, who was just fingered by the FBI and IRS as a fraudulent, money laundering mole. Devine was arrested Friday for allegedly receiving kickbacks from six accessory suppliers in exchange for confidential information, which apparently gave them an edge in negotiating Apple contracts. "The alleged scheme used an elaborate chain of U.S. and foreign bank accounts and one front company to receive payments," reports the San Jose Mercury News, "and code words like 'sample' were used to refer to the payments so that Apple co-workers wouldn't become suspicious." Though we're not yet sure what specific confidential information might have been passed along and we doubt the indictment will say, a separate civil suit filed by Apple claims Devine accepted over $1 million in "payments, kickbacks and bribes" over the course of several years.
Apple issued the following statement in regards to the situation -
“Apple is committed to the highest ethical standards in the way we do business,” Apple spokesman Steve Dowling said in a statement. “We have zero tolerance for dishonest behavior inside or outside the company.” |

A friend of mine, total noob to the IP4 & jailbreaking scene ...
Installed My3G to get FaceTime working over 3G, didn't listen to me and the Rock extentions killed her IP4. Made every app crashed and was force to restore it, luckly it was before 4.0.2 came out. |
