Apple will now accept your used iPhone 4 in exchange for up to $200
If selling your iPhone on eBay or great services like Gazelle are too cumbersome, Apple will now accept your used iPhone 4 and pay for it up to two hundred bucks, depending on its condition. Just head over to the Reuse and Recycle program at Apple’s site and hit the Get Started button underneath the “Get an Apple Gift Card for your old device” section.
If your used iPhone 4 manages to fetch a cool $200, congrats – you just secured yourself a 16GB iPhone 4S free of charge (with a two-year contract). As part of yesterday’s reshuffling, the iPhone 4 is now available only with eight gigabytes of storage and priced at just $99. The iPhone 3GS, meanwhile, has gone free. Both older iPhone models require a two-year plan to fetch those prices. Apple is also offering the iPhone 4 and 3GS without a contract commitment for $549 and $375, respectively. What about a SIM-free iPhone 4S?
Apple made no mention of the unlocked version of the iPhone 4S in its press release or during yesterday unveiling. The company has traditionally been requiring a contractual commitment for the latest iPhone model in most countries, usually putting out a contract-free variant ahead of a next-generation model. Things have changed with the iPhone 4S, according to this note which clearly mentions both subsidized and SIM-free iPhone 4S. In Canada, for example, Apple’s online store lists the unlocked iPhone 4S for $649. The UK lists SIM-free iPhone 4S for £499, in Germany and France it’s €629 while Australia has it priced at A$ 799. In countries such as Italy the iPhones have been available unlocked alongside their subsidized counterparts for years, stemming from local legislation preventing wireless companies from leveraging the latest handsets in order to sign up consumers into lengthy contracts.
(If only this program was in Canada too .... )

Thing is the reports on the Exynos, it will be likely 50% more powerful over the Galaxy SII. Even at that the iPhone 4S is like 148.2 vs Samsung Nexus Prime which might be like 100.65. Even if Samsung found a way to double the performance it just give them 134.2. We will have to see the real world tests though.
The iPhone 4S still has an amazing display compared to the other phones on the market.
Anyways 6 days until we see Google-Samsung pull a rabbit out of their hat.
GLBenchmark
Nexus One -- unknown (January 2010)
Nexus S -- 24.3 (December 2010)
Nexus Prime -- 100.65 (theory) (October/November 2011)
Nexus Prime might just be 4.15 times more powerful over the Nexus S. Thing is if you compare the Nexus Prime over the Nexus One, it will be really quite impressive.
iPhone 4S is like almost 9.7 times more powerful over the iPhone 4.
We still don't know what is the RAM count in the IP4S, the iPad 2 is 512mb of RAM and if the IP4S is 1GB of RAM ... it will be faster then the iPad2. Then will come along the next gen "A" CPU for the iPad3 in May, quad core custom A6 and so on and on.
PS: I posted that benchmark a few days ago :p

'Steve Jobs Day' Poised to Become a Memorial
Little did a small group of fans know that declaring "Steve Jobs Day" on Oct. 14 would have such a potential impact.
With Apple's announcement of former chief executive Steve Jobs' death at 56, the declaration of Steve Jobs Day - the day that the iPhone 4S goes on sale - has taken on additional poignancy. And the Facebook page dedicated to the event has become one of the first online memorials in the wake of Jobs' passing, besides Twitter, where the "RIP Steve Jobs" hashtag has dominated the online medium.
“We admire his work,” reads the Steve Jobs Day Web site. “We’ve embraced his vision. And we love what he’s brought to the world. Let’d take a day to honor the man himself and say thank you. Everyone around the world is invited to participate – in real life, Facebook, Twitter, and here.”
The new holiday is the brainchild of Jobs fans at digital marketing firm Studiocom.
While the Steve Jobs Day's invitation asks people to dress like Steve by sporting a black turtleneck and posting photos online, it's unclear whether people will see it as an homage or a parody. The site also asks fans to talk about Jobs on Facebook and Twitter, discussing things like their favorite Apple innovations and the first Apple products they owned; and to revisit the Steve Jobs Day site, where organizers will be posting all the Jobs-related items floating around the Web next Friday.
The folks behind Steve Jobs Day are not at all affiliated with Apple or Jobs himself, the site says.
The messages of condolence have begun to be added to the page: "How about calling the iPhone4S the iPhoneSJ? Launch is on his day.," Alex Theapplefan wrote.
"I went Apple with the first Macintosh in 1984 in a bid to break away from the DOS Command line," Phil Foster added. "I never looked back. Thank you for everything you did, Steve! Apple... keep the faith and the "Pirate" spirit!!"
"RIP Steve Jobs, you were a visionary," Deep Dan Emersomn wrote. "Like Disney, you were a person who is one in every century."
The minds behind the Steve Jobs Day also posted the following tribute to Jobs, more of which will undoubtedly come in the coming days.
(I would love to pay my respects @ the Apple Store, but it's too bad Rogers ain't gonna allow me to get a IP4S on Steve Job Day.
Thank you Rogers!
PS: I ain't gonna dress up like those crazy freaky fanboys.)

Samsung Galaxy Nexus full specs revealed; Verizon Wireless exclusive
Well, now that Apple has announced the iPhone 4S, there’s only one other flagship on the horizon that people are eagerly anticipating and that’s the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Codenamed “Nexus Prime,” the Galaxy Nexus is a phone we have scooped on numerous occasions, and now we can paint a complete picture of the device thanks to new information from a trusted source. Here’s what Samsung and Google will unveil next Tuesday:
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
9mm thin
4.65-inch 1280 x 720-pixel Super AMOLED HD with curved glass
TI OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.2GHz
1GB of RAM
32GB of built-in storage
5-megapixel camera on the back, 1.3-megapixel in the front
1080p HD video capture support
LTE/HSPA depending on carrier
Wi-Fi a/b/g/n
NFC
1,750 mAh battery
We have confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be a pure Google Experience device without any third-party UI or modifications, so no TouchWiz on this one, guys. Also, one notable feature of Ice Cream Sandwich? The ability to monitor each app’s data usage on the device. Lastly, we’re still hearing that the Galaxy Nexus will be a Verizon Wireless exclusive here in the U.S., so it’s time to check out those contract end-dates if you’re on another carrier and you plan to scoop up the latest pure Google smartphone.

Odds are that the phone will "officially" be over in Canada 3 months after launch. Like what happened with the previous Nexus phones.
I just wonder why they didn't go with their own Exynos 4212 though. What is interesting about the OMAP 4460 it is capable of 1.5 GHz, yet they brought it down to 1.2 GHz :conf:
Anyways, we will wait and see if the rumours have any merit.

Verizon's LTE network runs on 710mhz only; if this ver it doesn't support Rogers or Bells LTE AWS networks, it won't work in Canada._

I know, thing is with Google. They usually take 3 months to release the phone again so it can run on other carriers (outside the US).
What will be interesting to see the price point though...
Nexus One - $529 (unlocked) [20 months ago on T-Mobile]
Nexus S - $529.99 (unlocked) [9 months ago on T-Mobile]
Nexus Prime - $529 (guessing) [soon on Verizon]
