HP's TouchPad Behind Delays in Facebook iPad App Launch?
Mashable offers an inside look at the relationship between Apple and Facebook, exploring how HP's effort to bring a dedicated Facebook application to the TouchPad resulted in a severe falling out of the already-strained relationship between Apple and Facebook.
While the relationship has apparently been mended and the two companies are planning a Tuesday launch of Facebook's iPad app, a revamped iPhone app, and new HTML5-based web services, Apple and Facebook have a long history of being at odds.
The report notes that issues date back to the release of iOS 4 last year, when Apple was planning to integrate Facebook across the operating system. But negotiations between Apple and Facebook over the APIs to be used for the integration apparently broke down and Apple pulled the feature from iOS 4. That incident led to growing mistrust between the two companies that further manifested itself in issues over Facebook apps for iOS and Facebook integration being pulled from Apple's Ping social networking service for iTunes.
Nearly a year later, those hard feelings still framed discussions between the two companies, and a personal visit by Steve Jobs to Facebook's headquarters led to an additional blowup when Jobs learned that HP was planning a native webOS Facebook application for its TouchPad tablet.
Roughly three months ago, Steve Jobs then the Apple CEO paid a visit to Facebook to discuss a Facebook for iPad application with CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
Zuckerberg promised Jobs that the social network would release its first ever tablet application for iPad. Jobs, however, learned during his visit that HP was about to release a native webOS Facebook application for the TouchPad.
[...]
When Jobs learned of the webOS Facebook app during his summer visit to Facebook, he was livid. Zuckerberg vowed to get the app pulled. But Jon Rubinstein, the former CEO of Palm and then the GM of HPs webOS division, refused to halt the release of the app.
Sources indicate that Facebook was fully aware of the positions and plans of both Apple and HP, but was attempting to play both sides for maximum benefit and only turned its back on HP when it became clear that its relationship with Apple was in danger of disintegrating completely.
With HP and TouchPad now out of the picture, Apple and Facebook have reportedly patched up their differences in the face of a common threat from Google, and sources indicate that "this is the closest Apple and Facebook have been to creating something meaningful together". The two companies are said to be "scrambling" to pull together their announcement for Tuesday's iPhone media event.

iPhone 4S with iPhone 4 design, dual-mode capability leaked by iTunes
While we have independently been expecting the new iPhone to feature little exterior differences from the iPhone 4, there still has been some debate over the new iPhones design. Today, rumors of a re-design can essentially be put to rest. Inside the latest iTunes beta is a specific mention of the iPhone 4S. Along with the new iPhone name of iPhone 4S comes an image, and it is of a CDMA iPhone 4.
Unless Apple still has the CDMA iPhone 4 as a placeholder image until the new iPhone is announced, were fairly confident that the iPhone 4S will pack the CDMA iPhone design. iTunes only holds two iPhone 4S references: black and white versus the four iPhone 4 references of black/GSM, black/CDMA, white/GSM, and white/CDMA. This may also confirm the rumors of the new iPhone being a dual-mode/CDMA + GSM handset.
iPhone 4S confirmed as N94 (iPhone 4,1) that showed up in Apples inventory system:
The new iPhone will likely feature the dual-core A5 processor from the iPad 2, and eight megapixel camera, 1GB of RAM, Nuance-based speech-to-text Dictation, and the breakthrough Assistant feature based on Apples purchase of Siri. Everything you need to know can be read here.

Phone 4S 16, 32 & 32, 8GB iPhone 4 listings appear on Vodafonefs German website
Following a questionable list of iPhone 5 specs seen on the website of carrier Cincinnati Bell and iPhone 5 references that surfaced in Radio Shacks inventory system, the German branch of British multinational carrier Vodafone which in the United States has a 45 ownership stake in Verizon Wireless - references the yet unreleased 8GB iPhone 4 model in addition to the rumored iPhone 4S.
Specifically, as first reported by iPhone-Ticker.de, the 8GB iPhone 4 model is being referenced on the carriers online store, available in black and white. Last month, Reuters reported that suppliers are building the 8GB iPhone 4 model which the news gathering organization claimed was the inexpensive iPhone the rumor-mills been hyping about.
In addition, the site makes mention of the black and white iPhone 4S, each in 16/32/64GB flavors, confirming the findings of 9to5Macs Mark Gurman. As for the Vodafone Germany, remember they are Apples high-profile partner that carries the iPhone 4 in Germany alongside Deutsche Telekom-owned T-Mobile. To get a clearer picture of the next iPhone, check out our exhaustive overview of late rumors and what were expecting from tomorrows presser.
An A5 Powered iPhone Will Have Much Faster Graphics Performance (Benchmarks)
While most of the recent focus has been whether or not the next iPhone will have a dramatic external redesign, one feature that seems to be universally agreed on is that the new iPhone will incorporate the much faster dual-core A5 processor, which also houses a much faster graphics processing unit (GPU).
The A5 was first introduced in the iPad 2 in March. At the time, Apple said the iPad 2 had up to nine times the graphics performance as the original A4-powered iPad.
A recent set of GLBenchmark tests by Anandtech (graph above) shows how much faster in this the A5's GPU is as compared to the A4, at least with respect to certain graphics performance. The results may not be exact, as Apple could underclock the new iPhone's CPU as compared to the iPad 2, but the results should be somewhat representative.
Apple is expected to announce the new iPhone on Tuesday, October 4th during a media
(The iPad2 runs an A5 CPU and 512 ram, the IP4S will be A5 and 1GB of ram)

Sony Ericsson CEO says company 'should have taken iPhone more seriously'
Current Sony Ericsson CEO Bert Nordberg wasn't leading the company back when Apple introduced the first iPhone in 2007, but he still has some opinions about how it should have reacted to the phone's debut. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal today, Nordberg said, "it's safe to say that Sony Ericsson should have taken the iPhone more seriously when it arrived in 2007." He has nothing but praise for the company's commitment to Android, however, saying that "our Android strategy has been successful and the best choice we could have made," and that he "wouldn't feel comfortable investing in a platform that isn't as good as the one that we currently use." That last bit was in response to a question about Windows Phone, and it may sound like a complete slam if not for the fact that he went on to admit he is "quite curious" it. Exactly what that means isn't clear, but it sounds like the door still at least isn't completely shut for the OS it once toyed around with. Hit the source link below for the full interview.

iOS5 GM BUILD TOMORROW
Tomorrow is the day for iOS5 to go into GM build, this means anyone can load this IPSW without being registered to a developers account. Remember to backup your phone before loading it.
It's been an amazing journey to have had access to iOS5 since the beginning of Beta 1 and watch it progress to Beta 7. I would like to personally thank my source for allowing me to have access to it, explore it and understand it before the public had access to it.
For those who don't understand why Apple delayed the next generation iPhone(s), most of this time was to build, tweak and improve iOS5 and iCloud, that's being powered by those three massive Data Centers. It's not easy to add this automatic pushed cloud service to an ecosystem that's integrated to an OS. The level of detail Apple has put in .... it's unreal.
Once you step into the world of iOS5 with iCloud; you'll soon realize this will make your life so much easier and everything works flawlessly without you even hitting the save or upload buttons.
Everything indeed "just works".
Here is the 217 screenshots I've taken since June, use this as a guide to find most of the new features and there are tons i haven't found yet.

Go get the IP5 on Sprint, I would ... 2 year contracts are nothing compaired to our 3 year contracts w/ crazy high price plans and no HUPs for 30 months. (If we could early HUP like you guys, I would spend $80/month without even thinking)
Or you can wait until AT&T gets it and you can buy it at full retail pricing.

WSJ: The new iPhone wont support Sprints 4G WiMax network
Just hours ahead of the Lets talk iPhone event at Apples Cupertino headquarters, the Wall Street Journal taps the people familiar with the companys plans who claim the device wont operate on long-term evolution or WiMAX fourth-generation networks, adding:
The people said the device will work on 3G networks, which are broadly in use today and are the standard for the current iPhone 4. AT&T says its HSPA+ network has 4G-like speeds.
The story also confirms a Wall Street Journal report from yesterday claiming Sprint pledged to a cool $20 billion in iPhone orders in the next four years. Sprint Nextel is expected to join AT&T and Verizon Wireless in offering the device later this month, though T-Mobile has said it isnt signed on yet with Apple, writes author Greg Bensinger. Additionally, the Journals blog post has essentially debunked a Boy Genius Report story from yesterday which speculated Apple Sprint would allegedly get an exclusive on iPhone 5, described as a 4G WiMax phone.
