I'll only use Dev Team stuff, tried blackrain ... that is so buggy
Kepted upgrading downgrading at least 8x, until finally I went back to 3.0.1
Its kinda true of that theory, "why fix it ... If ain't broken?"
I did tried to explore and give 3.1.2 a shot, custom ipsw and full upgrade ... Not worth it |

Kinda glad in a way, Apple's strict SDK rules on their appstore products.

There's no such thing as a perfect mobile app store strategy -- you're either too draconian, too arbitrary, or too loose in your policies, and as far as we can tell, there's no way to find a balance that isn't going to trigger an alarm here and there or get a few people worked into a lather. If you're too loose, for instance, you're liable end up with the occasional bout of malware, which is exactly what appears to have gone down recently in the Android Market with a few fake banking apps published by a bandit going as "Droid09." As you might imagine, the apps end up doing little more than stealing your information and ending your day in tears; the apps have since been pulled, but that's probably little consolation for those already affected. The moral of the story? Be vigilant, keep a close eye on those system permissions the Market warns you about as you install new apps, report sketchy ones, and -- as always -- use a hearty dose of common sense. |

What's the difference between the different versions of jailbreaks ? dev team blackra1n and this new one? What kind of bugs are you talking about? I'm running blackra1n with 3.1.2 and I don't really notice any problems. |

Oh man can't remember the entire list, some ppl have it and some don't ...
Wifi dies
Cydia is horrific
Five Icon Dock gets knocked out after a springboard crash
GPS failure
I forgot the rest ... take it this way, GeoHomo had to come out with 2 vers, RC1 and RC2 |

Weird, I haven't had any of those issues, except for that Cydia crashing bug where you had to delete some files, I don't know if that was blackra1n or not. I thought all those jailbreaks were the same. I guess I had no other choice but blackra1n since I don't own a mac. |

I don't own a mac either ... Always have to hunt down a custom ipsw. Maybe I should start posting these up here to help you guys.
The Cydia crashing and shutdown is from the repos, but from blackrain it's really unstable. Sometimes thing load and others it crashes, example queing your stuff up and etc. The unit doesn't seem to run as smooth ...
3.1.x main reason was to stop JB & unlocking, but that's a thing of the past. To the normal ppl they added sorting on iTunes, more home screens and unlimited app install. |

Yup, Bingo. The 1st picture is a replacement phone and the 2nd picture is a brand new phone.
I know its a bit hard to tell from a photo but if i compare the 2 phones side-by-side the replacement phone picture quality is actually terrible compared to the new phone.
I will compare other phones once I get a chance. But so far the replacement phones fail. The screen is a bit blurry (smokey is the best word to describe it), and colors seem all faded...
Not sure if its like this on all phones or did iPhone start shipping out better picture quality on the new phones with the new bootrom?
The new one even still had issues (such as dust under under the screen and the silver bezel has sharp edges because its not flush)
I am convinced that all iphones have issues and apple quality control is doomed... |

I got 3 specs of dust under my screen within 4 mins this one time ... I never put it my pockets ever again. Pants like Khaki's will put so much dust between the screens ...
I have a leather pouch and so far, no dust what so ever. Before they would swap you a new unit, now they just replace the screen itslef only. |

I haven't unlocked my phone is the past like 3 months lol, so I have a question.
I have the 3.1.2 firmware, but will the QuickPwn on dev teams site unlock this? The readme in the one I downloaded from the site says that it will only do up to firmware 2.2.1 lol. I'm assuming there's a different program I need to use to unlock this, the question is which one?
I don't care about baseband crap, I just want to unlock the phone. |
