New Zealanders have been enjoying Epic Games' visual stunner for a few hours now, as per usual, but the past has caught up with the present, so to speak. Infinity Blade is now available on the US iTunes store for both the iPad and the iPhone. Drop the gun, give the mutants a rest, and pick up the sword -- cost of entry is $5.99 and the file size is a whopping 318.3MB. What are you waiting for?
I picked up the game last night...wow. The visuals are out of this world. Epic did a bang up job porting the Unreal Engine to the iPhone.

Upcoming 'Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift' Launching in Time for Christmas
Like many iOS games around this time of year, Zepto Lab and Chillingo are readying a holiday themed edition of everybody's favorite feed-a-candy-that-is-swinging-on-a-rope-to-a-tiny-monster game, Cut the Rope. Unlike some games, however, Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift will actually be a standalone game rather than an update to the existing one. Don't go throwing a fit just yet though, as you won't be required to make an additional purchase since Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift will be launching for free. I had a chance to experience the game first hand at the EA Mobile event last week, and it's looking like another great edition in the epic struggle to feed Om Nom.
There will be 25 brand new levels to play through in Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift, and of course the entire game is drenched with the sights and sounds of Winter holidays (formerly known as Christmas). Most interesting, however, is the introduction of holiday socks (formerly known as Christmas stockings). These always come in pairs, and basically act as teleports for Om Nom's candy. Drop a piece into one and it will pop out of the other, giving you yet another way to transport candy to his gaping maw.
Besides the 25 new levels and the new teleporting socks game mechanic, Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift will also feature Game Center with new achievements to unlock. While the OCD part of me that hates having multiple icons for essentially the same games (I'm looking at you Robot Unicorn Attack series) wishes this was just an update, I really can't look a holiday gift horse in the mouth. Who knows, perhaps sometime down the line this edition will be added into the original Cut the Rope. Be on the lookout for Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift as it should be available in time for Christmas.

“[The Droid 2] was a phone that got dropped. [T]he guy didn’t notice the glass had cracked [...]so when he put it to his ear, he cut himself.” [T]he only things that could explode in a phone would have resulted in a phone that did not work, yet this phone worked. And there was no explosive damage to the device (things ...inside blown outward, etc).”
Cydi coming to the Mac
Following the runaway success of Cydia on iOS - with 10% of all iPhone users, about ten million people, having used the marketplace at least once - Jay "saurik" Freeman is planning to bring Cydia to the Mac OS X platform very soon. At the 360 MacDev conference yesterday, Jay said the new app store would be ready for the Mac "within weeks," positioning it to go head to head with the Apple Mac App Store expected sometime in January.
Jay has been evangelizing the Cydia vision for some time now, with high-profile talks at TED and elsewhere. Rather than merely an alternative to the iTunes App Store, Cydia is positioned as a resource for users to customize their devices to work in the way their owners want them to work. In his talk at 360 MacDev, Jay talked about Cydia, detailed cycript and Cydia Substrate, and took Apple to task for their restrictive policies and the poor quality of developer documentation.
His description of the Cydia Store for Mac was general, but presumably would give users easy access to tools similar to the tweaks available on iOS Cydia as well as useful apps free from Apple restrictions. Jay encourages developers who are interested in using Cydia for the Mac to distribute their products to contact patrick at saurikit dot com for details.
Jailbreak Detection API Dropped from iOS 4.2
Apple has quietly dropped a jailbreak detection API from the latest iOS 4.2 update. This feature was only introduced six month ago. It is somewhat puzzling that Apple would choose to remove this feature from the iOS so soon after introducing it to the platform. Apple and the jailbreak community have been playing a game of cat and mouse ever since the App Store was first introduced in 2008.
The jailbreak detection API is part of Apple’s mobile device management (MDM) API that was released back in June with the introduction of iOS 4.0. The detection API works by asking the operating system if it has been compromised in any way. Jailbreaks usually change operating system files to gain access to the iOS, so that users can install non-approved apps. Apple routinely issues updates to circumvent these exploits requiring jailbreak developers to find new ways of gaining access to the iOS.
For most iPhone users, jailbreaking an iOS device is just a way to install unapproved apps, install customizations and in general, have more control over their devices. For enterprise users, where maintaining tight security is a top priority, jailbreaking an iPhone can be a real headache for network administrators. Some corporations have created their own ways of checking the integrity of a users iPhone by attempting to carry out actions that a non-jailbroken iPhone would not be able to perform. If the iPhone is able to operate unauthorized actions, the iPhone in question can have its access to the corporate network disabled.
The fact that Apple has dropped jailbreak detection should be a good thing for the jailbreak community. It would appear that jailbreak developers have become so adept at countering any security measures that Apple can come up with, that there is no one solution for maintaining a closed operating system. This can only be good news for the jailbreak community, unless of course, Apple has something new waiting in the wings. Lets hope not because I would hate too loose all of my favorite jailbreak apps.

And if it had in fact exploded into his ear with enough force to cut him, there wouldn't be any glass left on that area of the phone...

I'm just mocking those AT&T users who freaked out before 4.0.1 came around. Their final drop was @ 1 bar, but none of them ever made it to total lost of service.
This was done @ P3 level of underground parking garage, normal ground level ... max you'll drop to edge. Only one spot I know in Toronto, that you can pull this off.

New Version Of TinyUmbrella Will Allow You To Restore iPhone, iPad And iPod Touch Without iTunes
Developer of TinyUmbrealla (or Firmware Umbrealla) is working on a new version, which will allow you to restore your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch without iTunes.
TinyUmbrella allows you to take backups of SHSH blobs (ECID SHSH) and also protects iPhone (iPhone 4) from baseband updates when you update it with the latest iOS firmware.
Semaphore, developer of TinyUmbrella announced the news in a blog post:
I've been working on a new and improved version of TinyUmbrella that will, among other things, allow you to restore your iDevice without iTunes. With the holiday season and work, this will take me a bit to get working the way I want it. I appreciate your patience and your support. You guys are awesome :) No ETAs yet but I'll post updates here and on twitter.

Ear piece is broken on my i4.
This is actually the first time I will be taking in a phone while the phone is operational lol
Thing is I am jailbroken of course. What does their software say and not say? I just don't want to go there and then them shut me down for being jailbroken.
I am of course going to restore it and put it back to normal, but I rememeber there was like a revirginization process??

Just restoring your device should do the trick.
