With this new phone there's going to be a flood of HD club videos now. We're going out of business Kotsy... LOL! |

Well, I haven’t slept in 48 hours and I’m heavily caffeinated. If I’m capable of proofing masters in this state, it should be a piece of cake busting the bejesus out of iOS4.
I’ve got a tenner that says the GM for iOS4 hits in a few hours or early tonight.. Would anyone here be interested in some custom jailbroken IPSWs? I just figured I’d ask because it’ll be easy for me to just pop them all out at once. I also realize that not everyone is a sucker for punishment with a hard-on for potentially bricking their phones like yours truly, so feel free to wait until the 21st June too. :stongue: |

be glad it's only July & not September like the others. Considering that we have one of the smallest cell phone markets in the world. |
Which is totally true...
United States: AT&T (85.1 million+ customers)
Germany: Telekom (36 million+ customers)
Japan: Softbank (22 million+ customers)
Im right now trying to get the numbers for the UK (O2 and Orange) and France (Orange, SFR and Boygues Telecom)
Lets see for Canada... we have Rogers, Bell and Telus. With all 3 networks it makes up for maybe Softbank or maybe even half.
I guess WIND, Mobilicity and Videotron are screwed seeing the iPhone 4 doesn't run 1700/2100. Only 2100. |

No. I presume the frequency range of both mic's would be the same, which is the real issue. Club videos have bad sound because the amplitude is too high for the mic. The best way to over come this (traditionally) has been to use a battery box.
If the noise cancelling did work, I believe you would just hear nothing because everything would be taken out. |

It’s not *just* about customers, it’s about exclusivity. Although it’s not likely, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the iPhone 4 was a Rogers-exclusive launch until, say Holiday 2010. I would, however, completely expect that the Telcos in the first tier paid a pretty penny to be part of the launch. |

Not sure about this. Rogers came out and said that subsidizing the iphone last time around, cost them quite a bit. It almost sounded like it wasn't worth it. |

Thing is, I heard it mentioned that the one going out to devs today / tonight is the GM RC, which means it would be held in escrow as provided, you know.. it doesn’t start spitting pea soup and sodomizing your cat or what-have-you. By virtue that it’s still in RC escrow, there’s a likely chance they’ll still bind it to the UDID registration (which would be balls). |

It’s no secret that Rogers doesn’t like iPhone - It hates the stringent requirements that Apple enforces when it comes to things like packet priority, customer experience, etc. Companies like Sony Ericsson essentially drop the hardware into their hands at a far cheaper cost and doesn’t poke their nose into their network affairs.
AT&T though, they’re an example of what happens when you play nice with your partners, they’re a ing Juggernaut in lock-step with Apple.
Personally, I would love to see iPhones available ONLY at Apple Stores and dealers with no Telco bias.
- Walk in
- Determine model based on features
- Determine network based on pre-existing services or personal preference
- Activate
- off
Apple being who they are, they’re well aware of the capabilities of a network, its functions, its drawbacks and its framework / infrastructure / data management costs. Once a network is “certified”, Apple should be able to say “Okay, these are the plans you’re going to offer, here’s the rates, have fun.”
I know it sounds a little counter-progressive in terms of business, but frankly strategies like this in Canada are badly needed due to the costs that we’ve been teethed into accepting as “reasonable”. |

If thats true... I hope they do away with 3 year locked contracts. I would be happy to buy this phone right out.
I hope the iPod Touch and iPad (2nd Gen) will get the same treatment (wishful thinking). FaceTalk would be great. Especially on the iPad. Seeing if grandparents want to use it and talk to relatives that have an iPhone or iPod Touch it be a great way to stay connected. No use for Skype. To back FaceTalk wont work with Macbook / iMac / Mac Pro users that have iChat. Now that would have been amazing. |

| I too would buy it outright, and just continue on with my existing contract on which I have 1 year remaining. |
