iOS4 Burning your Data - iAd

It may not be a big deal -- Android's done it for years -- but some will no doubt be interested to learn that Apple can monitor your GPS. In the latest revision of its privacy policy, presumably updated for iOS 4, it revealed the company can anonymously track the "real-time geographic location" of devices and is free to share that data with "partners and licensees" as well. In a nutshell, that means Cupertino could potentially sell location data, but don't get in a tiff just yet -- the company says it will do so anonymously and for location-based services only.
"Speaking of sales and personally identifiable data, another addition to iOS 4 is the ad network iAd, which monitors your browsing habits and interests and serves up targeted advertisements respectively. According to the updated privacy policy, however, you don't need to let the OS do that. Simply navigate to http://oo.apple.com to shut down automated cookie collection, and you'll see boring, generic ads instead. "

| If your phone is password protected, is there an app or something at all that will record the time your phone was last unlocked? Like a "last log in" time stamp? |

If it doesn't work try this ...
1)Clear Safari's history, cookies & cache and then kille all apps in the multitasking dock
2)Use 3G mode and try again.
(Data is still burning, batt life seems better) |

iPhone App of the Day: TowerLocator

Here’s a cool Canadian-focused iPhone app that’s all about cellphone towers. It’s called TowerLocator and it’s pretty simple and free. The description says it all: “A map to locate cellular providers towers within Canada. Includes all the big and small providers”.
So now you have a to see what the reception is like in other areas on the go, or to keep up to date to see how your carrier is processing putting towers up. Every carrier is on there and broken down by colour. The main listed carriers are Bell (orange), Rogers (red), Telus (green), Mike (Yellow) and all the others in blue. You can dig deeper and choose to search for a specific carrier such as Wind, Public Mobile or Mobilicity or simply view all. In addition, there are different map styles such as Satellite, Hybrid. You can get it via iTunes by searching “TowerLocator”.
(This app is not accurate, it's showing no towers @ Telus Scarb) |

After a few more charges, you'll see & feel more batt improvements.
Apple did confirm 40% more batt life then the 3G & 3GS, it explains why there's much more weight to this ver. I like the weight with the feel of the stainless steel antenna.
I can't tell the batt increase, I have my screen turned to 90% brightness, retina display looks even better like this. |
