iCloud.com’s revamped Find my iPhone web application goes live for developers

Update: Find my Mac is live as well. All the details here.
Following iCloud.com’s opening in beta for developers earlier this week, Apple has hit the on switch for their revamped Find my iPhone page within iCloud. The new Find my iPhone web application is only live for developers until the official iCloud launch this fall and offers the same Find my iPhone features that users are accustomed to in the MobileMe version. The main change in the iCloud version is an all new user interface that features an old-style map and iOS-like popover menus. |

iOS5 iMessage does group msg; once it's fully rolled out to the public, all these useless IM apps from day one will be packing up.

iOS4 has group SMS, but our carriers didnt activate it and from what I know, only AT&T has it.

yes i agree that the new group messaging will work great when the new OS comes out but this app actually works across all phones. Even non smart phone users.
Not sure if group messaging on iOS5 will work with non iphone users |

Only if the carrier activates this function, it's not an app ... it's built in the OS and SMS/iMessage is all in one consalidated function. |

AT&T to soon begin revoking unlimited data from jailbreak hotspot users

AT&T confirmed to BGR that it will soon begin revoking unlimited data plans from jailbroken iPhone users and other smartphone users who utilize unauthorized tethering and mobile hotspot solutions. Following reports from earlier this year, AT&T on Thursday confirmed that it will remove grandfathered unlimited data plans from accounts belonging to users who tether or use unsanctioned mobile hotspot apps without a tethering plan, which is expressly prohibited by AT&T according to its terms and conditions. “Earlier this year, we began sending letters, emails, and text messages to a small number of smartphone customers who use their devices for tethering but aren’t on our required tethering plan. Our goal here is fairness for all of our customers,” an AT&T spokesperson told BGR via email. The letter outlines three choices for customers who had been making use of unauthorized tethering solutions, one of which is “Do nothing and we’ll go ahead and add the tethering plan on their behalf — after the dated noted in their customer notification.” According to earlier reports, offending users will automatically be bumped to AT&T’s more recent tiered data plan, which affords 2GB of smartphone data and 2GB of tethering data for $45 each month compared to AT&T’s old unlimited smartphone data plan, which costs $30 each month but does not include tethering. A new report from 9to5 Mac claims that users will begin losing unlimited plans as soon as August 11th, but AT&T stated that the policy enforcement date varies depending on when the offending subscriber was sent the notification letter. AT&T’s full statement follows below.
Earlier this year, we began sending letters, emails, and text messages to a small number of smartphone customers who use their devices for tethering but aren’t on our required tethering plan. Our goal here is fairness for all of our customers. (This impacts a only small percentage of our smartphone customer base.)
The letters outline three choices:
1-Stop tethering and keep their current plan (including grandfathered unlimited plan)
2-Proactively call AT&T or visit our stores and move to the required tethering plan
3-Do nothing and we’ll go ahead and add the tethering plan on their behalf — after the dated noted in their customer notification |

Purported iPhone 5 spy shot reveals sleek, slim design

A new image of what is claimed to be an actual iPhone 5 handset emerged today, perhaps giving us our first look at Apple’s fifth-generation smartphone. Posted by MacRumors forum member guigsh, the image shows a slender smartphone that looks even thinner than Apple’s current iPhone 4 model, jibing with reports that the next-generation iPhone could be just 7mm thick. “Picture taken yesterday in the office of a French operator. Believe it or not,” the forum member said. He continued in a separate post, “We were able to see it only 2 minutes, pictures forbidden of course, so, we did our best.” As far as details about the device itself are concerned, guigsh added, “The only thing I can tell you, is that my iPhone 4 looks really slow now.”_Of note, the image shows a device that looks strikingly similar to the Chinese counterfeit “iPhone 5″ we saw in_images and a video recently, but it looks much more refined. This could mean that the Chinese clone pictured earlier was indeed based on Apple’s actual design as BGR and others speculated, or it could mean that this is just another fake from the same manufacturer. Thankfully, we don’t have much longer to wait until we all find out for sure. |
