Okay...update...need help!
So I called Rogers, and spoke to 3 different people, and they wouldn't budge. It got to the point where I just didn't feel like arguing anymore as I was getting no where. So getting a replacement of a Curve is not an option.
Back to my original plan then. What do you think about unlocking the brand new Nokia when it comes and selling it? What if I didn't unlock it and tried to sell it?
Would it be worth it to try that and then use the money to buy a Curve? Problem would be that I wouldn't have a phone while I'm trying to sell the Nokia, as I'd have to wait until I sold it to buy a new one.
Opinions? |
I was gonna say, they don't give a f*ck about threats and etc ... they want you to walk and slap both ETFs on you. The whole rentention nonsense doesn't work when you've signed that contract, only if your contract free ... you can make those crazy plans we all dreamed about. The only dept that works for me is customer relations, but if you hear the recording its the cancelling dept, aka rentention dept. Most likely a level before rentention / cancelling.
You don't need our opinions, your BF is good w/ phones and just listen to him. Keep to one source and stick with it. |

I didn't really threaten then. I talked with everyone very politely and just stuck with the argument about how I did a hardware upgrade less then a year ago and have had multiple problems with the phone and that I don't trust it, and am very unsatisfied. The only thing they could offer me (other than a replacement of the same phone) was a Curve for $450. I've had luck multiple times with them giving me what I want even though I had 2 years left on my contract, but like you said that was with retentions.
It was worth a shot. Ian suggested the thing with selling the Nokia...but he doesn't know much about unlocking phones or selling them online and buying unlocked phones (he's always gone through the company too), so that's why I was asking what you guys thought about my idea. |

If they gave you that pricey, that's the pricing. No much can be done about it. Unlocking it won't help much, and tbh w/ you ... It's gonna be hard selling that E71. Rogers hasn't sold many of those, and within a few days they got it, it's already dropped to $99 last yr. Rogers has stated, anything that's not an iPhone or Blackberry, it's so hard to sell. Look at the HTC Android phone, price keeps dropping and so far, I've only seen one person in the general public who has it, she's some really old women.
The E71 is selling on Kijiji for $350-$300, I vote go cheaper before it gets too old. |

iPhone Skype App in Canadian AppStore Now

I'm realizing that (unless I'm wrong) you can't have a Canadian SkypeIn number. The closest assignable number is a US number. Doesn't make sense for someone in Toronto to dial a New York number just to ring me in Parry Sound. |

So.. I don't require an unlock to use my iPhone, but I'm seeing reports that Redsn0w can jailbreak my 3G using 3.1 software?
Hmm. |

Rogers - "Smartphone Experience Program" began in May

Didn't even realize this ... Long story short, any HUP of any SmartPhone now needs data on the account as of last May. This new HUP Policy is called "Smartphone Experience Program"
If you do a HUP via Call Centre, it's manditory & retail stores will bump the discounted pricing $200 more. |
