When planetbeing, the iPhone hacking expert who had ported Android to Apple’s iPhone had announced that he has successfully unlocked iPhone 4, MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev Team had reported that there are three different methods to unlock iPhone baseband.
MuscleNerd has just announced that he has managed to unlock iPhone 4 using another method.
MuscleNerd announced this achievement on Twitter:
Yay, got the 2nd of 3 ideas working. Now @planetbeing and I can compare
He has also published photos to prove that he has unlocked his iPhone 4.
MuscleNerd has indicated that he will share notes with planetbeing to figure out, which method has faster loading times and more stable so that it can be released. They plan to save the third method for future.
MuscleNerd or planetbeing haven’t provided any details on when the tools to unlock iPhone 4 will be available to the public.
Comex is also expected to release a Spirit like tool to jailbreak iOS 4 for iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS (irrespective of old or new bootrom) and also for iPhone 4.
However, we doubt they will release the tools before Apple releases iOS 4.1 that was seeded to developers of iPhone Developer program, which means users who are eagerly waiting to jailbreak and/or soft-unlock their iPhone 4 will need to wait a bit longer.
Dev Team has already released UltraSn0w 0.93 for iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS users to unlock iOS 4 baseband 05.13.04, which also unlocks all basebands since iPhone OS 3.0.
As always, we’ll let you know as soon as we’ve any further updates. So stay tuned here at iPhone Hacks or follow us on Twitter or subscribe to our RSS feed.

Dev Team: Apple Has Started 'Soft' SHSH Blob Checks With iOS 4
iPhone Dev Team has just reported that with iOS 4 or higher, Apple has started putting ‘soft’ SHSH blob checks in the firmware.
This means that like iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS, if iTunes can’t get the SHSH blobs for iPhone 3G or iPod Touch 2nd generation (due to signing window being closed), the iTunes restore will error out.
According to Dev Team, soft SHSH blob check can be easily bypassed by using Redsn0w and PwnageTool.
Cydia has also started saving the SHSH blobs for iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G.
Dev Team reports:
Those of you with jailbroken iPhone3G and ipt2G devices may now have noticed Cydia starting to save your SHSH blobs too, just like it does for iPhone3GS, ipt3G and later devices. That’s because starting with 4.0, Apple started putting a “soft” SHSH blob check in the firmware. The SHSH blob check is very real in the sense that if iTunes can’t get your blobs (because the Apple signing window has closed), the iTunes restore will error out. But it’s “soft” in the sense that those devices can always use redsn0w or PwnageTool to get past the error (the bootroms themselves for those devices don’t require blobs to be in the firmware files, unlike the newer bootroms).
So, Cydia is doing this to allow you to continue to use iTunes to restore to 4.x on iPhone3G and ipt2g outside of Apple’s signing window without needing to use redsn0w or PwnageTool to get around Apple’s annoying new restriction.
So if you were wondering why Cydia has started storing SHSH blobs for your iPhone 3G or iPod Touch 2G, this should answer the question.

In case of HTC Droid Eris, the location of internal antenna is at the top.
In weak signal areas, if you grip HTC Droid Eris as seen above then it may negatively affect signal strength.
Just did this w/ an HTC Touch, antenna is at the top and it takes a bit of time to drop the signal.

iPhone 3G 4.0 Speed Up
Remove all gradient and shadow png files from this location
/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/
I feel a very very very minor diff from 3.0 to 4.0 with this method, I kid you not ... even with or without wallpaper. Multitasking is a diff story, still not enough apps that have the APIs.
Made a video just for you guys, talk about silver platter? :p Robbie came by my work & witnessed the speed diff in person

I have been trying to get an answer from fido about the July 30 launch date. Here is what they have told me so far "there is no launch date" when I told them that Steve Jobs said it was being released on July 30th they had no information about that.
My question is this...will we be able to buy the phone from the retailer on that day?

Check the two previous pages, you'll find your answer.
If Apple & 1/5 of the carriers confirmed it, the others have no choice but to follow.
