I think I found something..... I'll try it when I find some wifi around me...
| quote: | How to Enable MMS on the iPhone 2G
Written on June 29, 2009 by Sebastien23
There is a new simple hack that allows owners of a first gen iPhone to enable MMS on their iPhone 2G. Your iPhone has to be jailbroken to enable MMS. If you don’t know how to jailbreak your iPhone, please read this.
Now go to Cydia and look for the application called ActivateMMS2G from the iSpazio source. Install and reboot your iPhone and bingo!
Very important: this hack only works on OS 3.0 and 3.0.1. Do not install on 2.X or 3.1. Thanks @Stilgar702 for the tip! |

Apple iPhone OS 4.0 features detailed! Also, Apple calling tablet the iTablet?
Boy Genius Report – 1/19/10 4:04 PM

That’s right, y’all. We’re back at it, and this time we’ve received some exclusive iPhone OS 4.0 details from one of our trusty Apple connects.
Here are some iPhone OS 4.0 features, according to our guy:
There will be multi-touch gestures OS-wide. (Would make sense for that as the rumored OS for the iTablet is close if not the same as the iPhone)
“A few new ways” to run applications in the background — multitasking.
Many graphical and UI changes to make navigating through the OS easier and more efficient. We haven’t had this broken down, but we can only hope for improved notifications, a refreshed homescreen, etc.
The update will supposedly be available for only the iPhone 3G and 3GS, but will “put them ahead in the smartphone market because it will make them more like full-fledged computers” more than any other phone to date. Everyone is “really excited.”
The last piece of information is the most vague, but apparently there will be some brand new syncing ability for the contacts and calendar applications.
That’s all we have for now! Who can’t wait for next Wednesday?
Thanks, Lindsey!
(edit: let's hope I'm wrong and this does come out next wed. Of course I hope they won't flash & change everyone's bootrom, since their successful with new 3GS. Baseband will be updated for sure without any doubts.) |

Cool I guess they made it official on Cydia now, before was a pain in the ass. MuscleNerd showed some video of him applying that app to make it work along time ago ... |

redsn0w 0.9beta3
What is it?
A cross-platform jailbreaking, unlocking, and customizing tool for iPhones and iPod touches. Customizations include boot logos, recovery logos, and “verbose” boot. It's a standalone program that doesn't use iTunes (no custom IPSWs are involved). The download links are at the bottom of this page. We've been offering redsn0w in various incarnations over the years (including poorlad's windows version of QuickPwn).
What devices, platforms, and FW versions are supported?
The beta supports:
*
All iPhones and iPod touches except the iPod touch 3G
*
Windows and Mac OSX (x86)
*
Firmware 3.0 and 3.1.2
How is it different from PwnageTool?
redsn0w doesn't require a system restore like PwnageTool does (it doesn't even use iTunes at all). On the other hand, PwnageTool can prevent your baseband from being upgraded when you upgrade your firmware, preserving your unlock. (redsn0w doesn't touch your baseband but it doesn't help preserve it during an upgrade either).
How is it different from blackra1n?
It differs from blackra1n because:
*
It uses our original Pwnage bootrom exploit for iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, and iPod 1G. (Because it's a bootrom exploit, it can't be fixed by Apple without a new hardware release.) Note that redsn0w 0.9 does use the USB exploit for iPhone 3GS and iPod 2G running 3.1.2, but that exploit will be fixed in Apple's next FW release.
*
It offers custom logos and verbose boot
*
It installs Cydia without needing a separate download
*
It's not as fast :) (but redsn0w handles more variations :))
What's different if I have a late-model device
If you have a late-model iPhone 3GS, or if you have an iPod touch 2G whose serial number begins with “MC”, then you are currently restricted to “tethered” rebooting. That means you need to connect your device to a computer to complete the boot after a reset. Also, these devices cannot have custom logos.
redsn0w will ask you whether or not you fit in this category when used with the iPhone 3GS or iPod touch 2G. If you have a late-model device and don't give redsn0w the correct answer, you will likely need to do a system restore to recover from the mistake.
To do a tethered boot after your late-model device resets for some reason, either run redsn0w again and select “Just boot tethered right now”, or run blackra1n.
What if I'm already jailbroken?
If you're already jailbroken, redsn0w can still be used to change your boot logos, revert back to the stock logos, or switch verbose booting on and off. By selecting “Already Pwned” you can bypass the steps normally needed to enter the jailbroken state.
Is it safe?
The Windows version has been tested by small groups of volunteers on IRC and our blog since mid-January. That being said, this is still a beta and if things go wrong you may have to do a system restore…so make sure your data is synced before trying the beta.
Beta feedback
redsn0w is in beta until we get iPod Touch 3G and linux support added. In the meantime, please send any feedback to musclenerd (either gmail or iphone-dev.org), or tweet with a #redsn0w tag. |

Apple’s iPhone Ranked #1 in Mobile Web in Americas and Europe

AdMob [Via Electronista] released its latest report and it states the iPhone is the leading smartphone not only in the Americas, but in Europe as well. This news should really come to no surprise to any of our readers, and it’s not the first signs of Apple’s dominance in the smartphone world as we’ve reported its U.S. success of mobile web traffic previously. As you can see, the iPhone is annihilating the competition regarding mobile traffic in some major markets.
“Alongside the iPhone growing to 54 percent of all smartphone Internet traffic in North America, it now makes up more than half of all handheld traffic in Latin America (56 percent) as well as Western and Eastern Europe (78 percent and 51 percent). Apple’s lead is especially high in Oceania, which centers on Australia and New Zealand, as it represents 92 percent of all mobile data.”
Following behind Apple’s footsteps here in the U.S., we have the Motorola Droid coming in 2rd in overall smartphones. Sadly for our good friends over at PreCentral.net, their beloved device only took a lonely 2% of the pie.

My blackra1n jailbreak/unlock has been running flawless on my old 3g and now my new 3gs. My serial number doesnt start with MC, but my part number does, so Im assuming there will be no advantage to me using redsn0w because either way, I gotta connect the device to a computer running redsn0w or blackra1n should my device restart. |

All this could of been avoid if GeoHomo didn't come out with his JB. If the dev team kept on hold back as planned with their JB, the 3GS wouldn't have a bootrom changed and made all you guys suffer. Apple would of produced more 3GS with the first bootrom and everyone would of been happy.
"As some of you may recall, the Dev Team was originally planning on holding off on a 3GS jailbreak release until after the official 3.1 firmware update from Apple dropped. In doing so, they were hoping to prevent Cupertino from plugging the exploit they use to access and jailbreak the 3GS with the next release."
"Sad day it is for all of you jailbreak fiends out there. The Dev Team has come out to let you all know not to expect a iPhone 3GS jailbreak solution any time soon. While they do have the software ready for prime time they are holding off on pulling the trigger to release it – for a few good reasons. The biggest reason being – Apple.
Apple is surely coming out with a 3.0.1 firmware release shortly. They need to fix ultrasn0w. They need to fix some UI issues. 3.0 is buggy and 3.0.1 is coming. We’re going to wait and see what 3.0.1 brings before figuring out the release date for our version of the jailbreak.
They also seem to be a bit worried about their exploit this time around and think Apple will definitely “fix” it rendering their software useless to people who purchase an iPhone after a fix is released.
Once the jailbreak is out, Apple will fix the iBoot-family bug we use to accomplish it. They will simply stop signing the old iBoots and only sign the fixed ones. If you bought your phone after Apple has done this, there’s nothing you can do…the jailbreak isn’t going to work for you.
So there you have it folks, all of you who are anxious for a iPhone 3GS jailbreak solution will have to exercise a bit of patience. For the full scoop head of to the Dev Teams blog."
http://www.theiphoneblog.com/2009/06/28/iphone-3gs-jailbreak-delayed-dev-team/
Honestly, I hope GeoHomo stays away from 4.0 and let the Dev Team do a proper job this time. |

from personal experience, on the 3g and 3gs, blackra1n has not once given me an issue. I with my phones.........A LOT. No speed issues, no lagging, none of the issues you described a few pages earlier.
The ONLY drawback I find to using this method on my 3gs (no issue on 3g) is that I have to hook device up to pc to reboot. Big deal, i do all my hacks and installs near my pc anyways while googling instructions or how to's etc.....
The phone is fast, its tweeked, i have lots of nice apps, and theres no reason to reboot it at all really unless I want to try a new hack, which is primarily done near a PC for me anyways.
Blackra1n gets a thumbs up from me.
EDIT:
I was thinking, why the hell would Cydia have ANYTHING to do with the jailbreak? Its an app, which is installed by the jailbreak. If its running ty, im sure it has nothing to do with Blackra1n. Once the device is jailbroken, i dont see how what you do to the device afterwards has any ties to what you use to jailbreak the device. If your installing all kinds of you find on cydia and making your phone do funky , I cant say the method used to jailbreak is at fault.
Please enlighten me if I am wrong. As I understand it, once the device is jailbroken, what you do to it afterwards is what can give you issues............yes/no?
Maybe I have no issues because I actually research my hacks in detail. I have friends who just love to install everything under the sun on cydia and complain to me their phone is slow. |

I ran blackrain 3x on 3 diff tries of JB on 3.1.2 and everytime Cydia ran very unstable. Like I said many times, I've tried que'ing my apps and by the 3rd app ... It crashed and kepted doing it. Keep in mind I have a 3G here and shouldn't make a diff with this case.
Reloaded a ipsw from pwnagetool and that cydia que'ing didn't happen again. That's was my sign to use the Dev Team again, before the other problems may happen to me ... Who knows.
Some ppl have endless problems, some have minor and some of have none. It has nothing about research when your installing the basics Apps we all use (winterboard, mxtube & blah blah blah)
It's just like my story with my gf's unit that could never be unlocked with ultrasnow, every unit could react differently to certain things ...
Try DevTeams ver one day, compaire it yourself and see what runs smoother for you. |

Ive never had cydia crash on my 3g or 3gs, and i use backgrounder and run two to three apps all the time in regular use.
*shrugs*
I still say the method of jailbreak has nothing to do with cydia running funny. |
