Opera Mini for iPhone approved, will be available for free
Our man Thomas Ricker was just wondering how long it would take before Apple determined the fate of Opera Mini for iPhone, and we've got some good news -- it's been approved and will be available for free on the App Store within 24 hours! Can't say we were expecting that, since non-Safari-based browsers have typically been verboten from Apple's little kingdom, but we're certainly happy to be surprised. We'll do up a full hands-on when we see it in the store, but for now check the demo video after the break.
Update: We're getting reports that UK and Australian readers are already able to download and enjoy this surprising little addition to the app store -- be sure to give this iTunes link a shot and see if it works in your region, mmkay?
(6x faster and uses 80% less data then Safari. No pinch to zoom, must double tap. Also remember all data goes through Opera Mini servers. Big brother says "watch yo ass")
Check Appstore @ 12am, UK and Aussie vers are out in their regions.

There's going to have to be a reeeaaaalllyyy sick Windows Phone 7 for me to not get an iPhone when my contract is up in February of next year.
And even then, I'm on Verizon's CDMA network...I don't know if I can remain loyal to them while they're upgrading to a 4G network of thee next couple years. Especially when no worthwhile Windows phone (Samsung or HTC) will be a CDMA phone. And if the CDMA 64GB iPhone comes out in the fall, then that would make me reeaaalllyyy happy.

Yeah they're talking about the Verizon ver a lot lately. Who knows whats gonna happen, AT&T is in panic mode beefing up their networks nation wide.
IMO dude, wait until you the 4th gen iPhone and then decide. It's suppose to be mindblowing and will surpass Nexus One (which is given, everything moves forward) Windows 7 phones look really nice, I do have to salute MS for that.

This week comes the day my 2nd gen iPhone will go on sale or turn into an "ipod touch with a mic".
I'm getting an almost new 16 gig iPhone 3GS for $200. My gf works in the phone and cameras department at Future Shop, and customer wants to unload it... score!
It's unfortunately white, just what I need, a phone that will gheyly match my white miata, FML. But at that price, I couldn't say no. Gonne get me a cover for it.
My only worry is if the guy already has the latest OS, then it will be a pain in the ass jailbreaking it.

What bothers me about that is, well, fine -- no removable battery and no removable storage. But at this stage of the game, only 8GB minimum storage? I would think 32, or at least 16 would be a bare minimum standard when Apple will come out with a 64 this summer.
With Apple getting better and better, MS needs to hope they've been playing with this for 2 years now. But in this age of leaks, that's highly unlikely. Either way, at the end of this year, I'll sure have fun shopping for phones!
