Apparently you can do it, but if you updated and your phone has the new baseband from the update, you have to create a custom ipsw and restore from that, then you can update to the newest firmware without the update updating the baseband.
I don't really know what any of that means at the moment though lol, so I need to read up on this. |

| You can jailbreak a 2.2.1. but from what i was told you cant unlock it... So if its on a contract then you are fine |

Once you've updated your baseband, that's it ... you can't go back.
Jailbreaking is jailbreaking and unlocking is unlocking, two different things.
Yes, you can jailbreak 2.2.1 .... go to the Dev Team's blog and get 225-2 Quickpwn |

I now have version 2.2.1
Am I basically screwed for jailbreaking at the moment? |
Nope, you're not screwed at all, Dan.
Just as E2E1kel said, Just get quickpwn 225-2 from dev-teams blog, jailbreak it, and away you go.
I didn't unlock mine since I plan to stay with the same carrier (Rogers).
check your pm's in a minute. |

Unlocking is great for travelling, since you can avoid roaming charges. |

ok so thats really only worth it if your going to be there for a significant amount of time. My traveling needs will never require me to unlock my phone then.
Thanks |
