iPhone 6 will be better, it should be a proper 4G phone :D sucks got to wait like 17 months :(
I hope the rumours are true about iOS 2.3 able to use your iPhone as a mobile hotspot (took them long enough (i.e over a year)). |

On another topic, I'm annoyed with the Canada cell companies. We have the new little ones you'd think provide competition (maybe they're not fully operational so the big guys aren't scared yet) but I haven't noticed any deals on cell plans, prices seem to be going up and there's not much difference in plans between the companies, they're just copying each other's cell plans. |
Same here. My work is taking back my BB this week and i started to look for a replacement.
Lowest plan u can get for an iphone is $50 a month + all their charges they manage to invent.
I smell price fixing between rogers/bell/telus as they are all the same pricewise
imho, $50 a month for a cell is still too expensive. |

If you need to "root" (aka jailbreaking) your phone to load the current firmware, that's even more "crap". Since you're at the mercy of the manufacture & carriers to skin, tweak and mod that firmware to be official. With the fragmented firmwares and all the different appstores, not everyone can run a simple game like Angry Birds ... since it needs to be @ 2.2 at least.
Or you can wait 10 months to get an update that's already outdated.
Or you can use some aging hardware & software that's made for 08-09
Think before you speak. Apple would rather unrestrict those 3G limitations, but the iPhones use 4-5x more data then anyone else and the carriers would be burning down.
Jailbreaking is a thing of the pass & there's no need for it at all since iOS 4.0
Speaking of "iOS 4.3", beta 1 is out
"-iOS 4.3 beta 1 for iOS mobile devices and Apple TV seeded to developers.
-iOS 4.3 brings new Multi-Touch gestures to the iPad.
-iOS 4.3 will not support the iPhone 3G or iPod touch 2G.
-GSM iPhones will get the Personal Hotspot feature with iOS 4.3 (AT&T is a go).
-FaceTime gets a new icon and iAds can now display in full-screen.
-iOS 4.3 brings the physical screen lock switch back to iPad (is an option).
-iOS 4.3 may bring fun video effects to the iPhone/iPod touch camera app.
-iOS 4.3 brings new Messages alert settings and a new font in notes
-iOS 4.3 brings Airplay to 3rd party Apps" |

Let me answer some questions, which we’ve covered many times here.

My girlfriends 3g is running 4.1, very slow, beginning to act sketchy.
Phone is Rogers, she needs unlock for Fido
If I upgrade to 4.2, the current redsn0w, with ultrasn0w should work for the 3g with a non tethered jailbreak if I have been doing my googling correctly?.........confirmation before I try? |
Restore 4.0.1, jailbreak, ultrasnow, remove the 16 shadows and gradient files and remove the start up daemons. In iOS 4.1, Apple has removed a lot of stuff which helps but, the jailbreak method of 4.0.1 is much better.

Will the new verizon phone help out the peeps in Canada who are on mobilicity, public mobile or wind?
I am not familiar with CDMA.
Ive been hearing that Sprint in the US might get it and they use the same frequencies as our new telecoms. |
The Verizon IP4 is CDMA REV A and does nothing for Canada, unless Bellus wants to slap that on their CDMA networks. You can’t grab another carrier’s CDMA phone and apply it to another ... unless they clone it the ESN and that’s illegal.
Wind & Mobilicty are AWS networks, running at 1700/2100 bands. Public is running off Bell’s CDMA network.
Having a AWS IP4 will help, but the big 3 will still use their coverage & PCS/HSPA reasons to keep their customers signed with their networks. My family has services with the AWS carriers and coverage is horrific, saving a few bucks is cool ... but not @ the coast of your coverage maps. |

Is that real carbon fiber John??
It looks real... And in sexy....
Me wanteeeee.... |

It's the 3M Di -Noc film, real carbon fibre is a conductive material and would cause a real antennagate for the IP4.
IMO the 3G and 3GS models look better with this film, b/c of the curved design. |
