LTE is now operational in Montreal.
Also one thing, what is insane that some cellphone displays have or will have 1280x720. Which is crazy, just about 6-7 years ago that is what computer displays were maxing out at. |

It is amazing, but computer displays have been able to do higher rez for over 15 years. |

iPhone 4S / 5 appears in Apple’s inventory system, iPod touch may see price drops

Yesterday we reported that tweaked iPhone 4 models and white iPod touch models have appeared in Apple’s internal inventory systems ahead of the October 4th Apple event. Today, though, comes the big news: the next-generation iPhone has made its way into Apple’s inventory system. This new iPhone is the N94 device that we found in the iOS SDK many months ago. This device is confirmed to pack Apple’s dual-core A5 processor, and is likely the device we described with an 8MP camera, 1GB of RAM, Nuance Dictation speech-to-text, and the groundbreaking Assistant feature.
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the new iPhone appearing in the inventory system is that the model number is similar to the one from a purported ‘iPhone 4S’ packaging label we spotted yesterday on a Chinese forum. We quickly dismissed the label as fake due to its unknown origin, but it is now possibly real. The model number from the label is MD239 (a 16GB unit), while the model number for the “better” (likely 32GB unit) is MD234. According to Mr. X, this sequence is sensible, but could just be a coincidence. If legitimate, the next-generation iPhone will be marketed as the iPhone 4S, but we definitely would not call that anywhere near confirmed. Another tidbit: IMEI and MEID being together on the label would seem to confirm this new iPhone to be GSM+CDMA (thanks @rokorre!).
Following up on our report yesterday that two new tweaked iPhone 4 models have appeared in the system, we are now hearing that the two models represent black and white units. The N90A is likely an 8GB iPhone 4 that comes in black and white.
iPods too!
We are also hearing that all three iPod touch capacities will be seeing price drops in certain international countries. The price drops for the 32GB and 64GB models will be minimal – perhaps due to currency fluctuations – but the 8GB pricing will change substantially. Translated, the 8GB iPod touch may even reach the $199 price point or below again in the United States, but that is unconfirmed. With the release of the $199 8GB Kindle Fire yesterday, a move like this from Apple makes sense.

RIM reportedly bails on PlayBook, considers exiting tablet market

Research In Motion has reportedly stopped production of its BlackBerry PlayBook tablet and is considering exiting the space altogether. Collins Stewart analyst_John Vinh made the claims in a note to investors Thursday morning, citing anonymous sources at RIM’s manufacturing partner Quanta. “While Quanta last week acknowledged that it had laid off a significant number of production workers from a factory focused on producing the PlayBook, our research indicates that the ODM has essentially halted production of the tablet, Vinh wrote. “Additionally, our due diligence indicates that RIMM has canceled development of additional tablet projects.” The move would be drastic, but hardly_unforeseen; RIM shipped 500,000 PlayBook tablets in the slate’s launch quarter, and only 200,000 more in its first full quarter of availability. Multiple analysts have anticipated the PlayBook’s demise, and it appears as though they may have been right. RIM did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
(It's either the Playbook 2 on the way or it's time to call it a day)
EDIT:
Research In Motion on Thursday responded to a market rumor suggesting that production of its BlackBerry PlayBook tablet had been stopped, and it was considering an exit from the tablet market. “RIM doesn’t typically comment on rumors, but any suggestion that the BlackBerry PlayBook is being discontinued is pure fiction,” a RIM spokesperson told BGR in an email. “RIM remains highly committed to the tablet market.” BGR reported earlier on a note from Collins Stewart analyst John Vinh stating that RIM’s manufacturing partner Quanta had been ordered to discontinue production of the BlackBerry |

More anti-blackberry BS from BGR. RIM's denied this report. |

| I'd say it's true in the sense that they probably stopped making their first gen PlayBook but only because they are producing the second gen models in its place. To give up on the PlayBook as a whole would be semi giving up on their future (QNX) which doesn't make sense from any angle you look at it. |

ROGERS LTE PROMO - 10GB for $52.93
Rogers just announced their introductory 10GB plan for $52.93. It works with all their LTE devices including tablets, smartphones and sticks. It's available till Nov 28 2011. Whipping out my calculator it's basically the same price per GB as the $30/6GB plan that many of us already have. You just have to buy more GB.
Otherwise here are their flex data plans for sticks and hotspots:
$47.93/2GB
$62.93/4GB
$77.93/6GB
$92.93/9GB
additional GB cost $10.
Smartphone and tablets:
$37.93/2GB
$62.94/6GB
additional GB cost $10.
data share plans:
$45/3GB or $60/6GB
overage is $20.48 per GB
each additional stick or tablet is $12.93 (no term) or $17.93 with term.
All plans include GRF. |

| One thing if I get a LTE phone that is unlocked online and use it on Rogers network will they know that I am not paying for it or Rogers will just keep me on the 3G network? |

Take serious note here:
Not ALL LTE networks are the same; AT&T runs on 700mhz. Verizon runs on 710mhz and Roger's current LTE runs on AWS bands. Our current phones run on their HSPA+ network and you'll need to change your plans to use the new LTE networks.
Warning: Mobilicity and Wind phones require HSPA at AWS frequencies
Rogers LTE devices require LTE at AWS frequencies, the modules have to be the same; yes it's very confusing here for me too.
-Band IV (W-CDMA 1700 or Advanced Wireless Services) in the United States (T-Mobile USA) and Canada (WIND Mobile, Mobilicity, Vidéotron)
They're not the same thing. You'd need a phone that supports HSPA and LTE both at AWS. Rogers uses a separate APN for LTE that requires a LTE on your plan to access.
Until next year's 700mhz auction, no one can use that band in Canada for now. |

I think the iPhone 4S is the one iPhone I wont be getting the day it drops.
I might stick with my 4 unless the 4S has a leaps and bounds better camera....

'iPhone 5' Silicone Sleeves Already Arriving at AT&T Retail Stores

Earlier today, we noted that Case-Mate cases for the redesigned "iPhone 5" had appeared in AT&T's inventory database. The addition yielded the interesting observation that AT&T is apparently placing orders for the cases despite the growing feeling that Apple may not be releasing such a device and instead releasing only the "iPhone 4S" design that is nearly identical to the iPhone 4.
_
We now have evidence that cases for the rumored iPhone 5 redesign have already begun arriving at AT&T retail stores, as one store employee has sent us photos of iPhone 5 silicone sleeves that appear to have arrived today. Like other cases for the rumored redesign of the iPhone 5, these cases appear to show a tapered design and the mute switch moved to the opposite side of the device.
_
_
Third-party cases continue to be essentially the only evidence in favor of a redesigned iPhone 5 even as evidence for the iPhone 4S continues to mount in the form of parts leaks, inventory database listings, and other reports from sources.
(Notice the packaging doesn't have the AT&T corp brand and colours? All products on the floor must be packaged with AT&T packages)

Bluetooth Auto ON/OFF - Bluetooth is only acitvated in the pairing menu, nothing paired it's turn off.

Same with personal hotspot, broadcasting is only on that screen for ppl to connect. Once it's out that screen your hotspot can't be found

Pull down Notifiction tab within the lockscreen 1st notification view.
