Resident Evil 4 Released For American iPhone/iPod Touch

Capcom sent shockwaves into the Resident Evil community a few weeks back when a portable version of their best-selling Resident Evil 4 hit the Japanese iTunes store, only to quickly disappear. But now its back, and now you can bring Leon Kennedy's macabre European adventure with you for the asking price of $7.99.
Like fellow iPhone/iPod Touch Resident Evil: Degeneration, Resident Evil 4 has its roots in other Japanese-centric mobile devices, making this the second port Apple's platform has received. Not that fans will matter, as the game looks absolutely stunning, and the controls look well-suited for the smaller screen.
Originally released for the Nintendo Gamecube in 2005 (and subsequently for the PS2/PC), Capcom's Resident Evil 4 is often hailed as one of the last generation's best games, and is certainly superlative survival horror. Weighing in at a relatively safe 37.3 MB, Resident Evil 4 for the iPhone/iPod Touch should be just the thing portable zombie blasters have been waiting for. To see if this version is your thing, visit the iTunes store for yourselves! |

Why not? GPS works everywhere in the world ... its not gonna de-activate once you leave a country lol |
Some devices you can, it depends on what preloaded maps are with your GPS application. Carriers can also "lock" your phone to only access GPS features for their own appications. ie, Verizon = VZW Navigator, AT&T - Navigator, and then only preloaded with NorthAmerican mans and they essentialy block the use of other programs like BB Maps or Google Maps and you need to hack it or something, but then you void your "warranty".... blah blah blah.
Not saying it can't be done, it's easy, but it can be blocked... |

Too late now... but when you get another one...
http://smrtguard.com/
SmrtGuard (pronounced Smart Guard), is Your Smartphone Guardian™. SmrtGuard for BlackBerry® is here to help consumer BlackBerry® smartphone users "lowjack" and remotely wipe their smartphones, to protect them in the event of theft or loss.
In addition, SmrtGuard for BlackBerry provide over-the-air backup and restore of personal data the BlackBerry smartphone.
There is another one out there, but can't find it, but once another SIM is inserted into the device without in a correct password, it SMS and EMails everyone in your phonebook with a message saying "This phone has been stolen, the SIM # in this phone is 8930xxxxxxxxxxxx and it's current location (If you have GPS and it set up) is N 44' - 34.232 / W 34' - 12.452. It keeps on sending stuff until you stop it (or the devive). I'll see if I can track that one down too.... |

I would never use those carrier navigation software, no freedom at all. I've tried Garmin on a Bold for a week when my Nokia was busted. Not bad at all, too bad there's no source for it, since it's locked to PIN |

China Unicom finally bringing iPhone to world's most populous country?

Is it really happening? Is the world's most thickly settled nation finally getting the iPhone in earnest? If a bold (albeit woolly) report from China's own national news agency is to be believed, China Unicom has just locked down a deal that'll grant it exclusive rights to sell Apple's heralded smartphone in mainland China for three whole years. Unfortunately, most of the nitty-gritty details are absent, but we are led to believe that this will be the first-ever iPhone sold with any branding at all outside of logos splashed on at Cupertino. The "Wo" icon you see just below the speaker signifies that this here device is ready to rock on the carrier's 3G network, though we still can't say with any amount of certainty if said image is fully legitimate. We're also waiting to hear whether it'll be the iPhone 3G or 3GS (or both) that's sold, and we're particular curious as to whether or not these handsets will include WiFi modules.
In related news, it does sound as if China Unicom bent over backwards a bit to make this all come together, with the article stating that it signed on to move between one and two million units per year regardless of how many consumers actually show up to buy one. If you'll recall, an eerily similar agreement has Russian operators in a world of financial hurt, but we get the feeling the reception in China will be quite a bit warmer. At any rate, it's noted that Unicom will be snapping up the devices from Apple at a cost of around 3,000 Chinese yuan apiece ($439), with end users being asked to pay an undisclosed lesser amount on contract. If all goes well, the units could hit Chinese shops as early as September, though only time will tell how everything shakes out. Oh, and considering that Apple can hardly keep up with iPhone 3GS demand as it is, we suspect it'll want to wait a few months anyway before stressing its supply channels further.
Update: A China Unicom spokeswoman has now been quoted as saying that "we have made progress but there are still some problems to be resolved." Really? Another round of this? |

Looking to get either an iphone or blackberry in the semi-near future.
I was just wondering approximately how much an average monthly bill is for a decent voice + data plan after all those hidden charge type things? so to those who have an iphone or a BB, how much are your monthly bills for the service?
Probably wont get one if its more than $75 a month... |
stay away from the samsung jack from Fido. That is all. |

Rumor: Verizon Racing to Get 4G LTE Network Up for Q1 2010 iPhone and iTablet Launch?!

Techcrunch reports sources claiming Verizon is racing to get 20-40 markets up and running on their 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) network by Q1 2010 to coincide with an iPhone and iTablet launch.
Verizon is getting 60Mbps in 4G tests which is admittedly ZOMG fast, and since they’re going with LTE, this network will be theoretically compatible with AT&T and other GSM carriers also moving to the same technology.
And yes, it does sound too good to be true, but we won’t go all Leo Laporte on them just yet…
(Let's hope not ... CDMA iPhone would be a shame for us in Canada) |

Been testing the iPhone3G w/ Sygic and Navigon to prepare for TomTom Navigator Have the iPhone3G running the navigation software, iPod playing music and charging at the same time.
Just confirmed ... it's not the MOMAX car charger I got from PMALL, it's the iPhone itself!
While the iPhone3G is set on the GPS cradle that's mounted to the windshield, due to the heat from the sun + the heat of the charger, it will discharge your battery. The diff between the MOMAX and Griffin chargers, the Griffin charger won't cause too much heat and charge faster it's kepted in a cooler area. That's one major flaw the iPhone has so far and I'm pretty annoyed at it. My Palm Treo 680 was running TomTom all the time, regardless of the heat in the car. But to think of it, I had the AC blasting non stop with the Civic lol.
Edit: Everything works with AC blasting to keep the unit full charged, just set your AC direct the flow to the windshield. |
