Have no fear, they are working on downgrader for the present bootloader ... worse come to worse, if your travelling to another country, get a Turbo or Hyper Sim and you will be fine sir. Only prob with those are signal power is not so great, but better then using another phone.

I upgraded to 2.2.1, then jail broke it using the quick pwn tools, and i was good to go. No messing around with basebands or anything.

Yes indeed, but you flashed your baseband to 02.30.03 now. You lost yellowsnow.
Easiest way to do an update and keep your baseband .... find a custom firmware, hit restore + shift to locate your file and flash it in. That's what I did and the custom firmware is already jailbroken ... no need for the use of quickpwn or pwnage tool afterwards.
The min 3.0 comes out ... I'll be doing the same when some makes a custom firmware.

3G Fuzzyband Downgrader
This wonderful GUI Baseband downgrader was created by w1kedZ (coding) & DHowett (GUI). It is based on the exploit in the 5.08 bootloader found by geohotz. So yes you must have the 5.08 bootloader for this to work. The beautiful part about this tool is that it will check your bootloader for you.
The way the tool works:
1. It verifies your bootloader version and displays it before attempting to downgrade (won't attempt if bootloader isn't 5.08) so it is much safer than other methods.
2. It detects current baseband version, and the patches accordingly...this means it will downgrade any baseband from 2.30 to 4.26.08 (beta 5)
It is available now on the BigBoss Repo. Look for 3G Fuzzyband Downgrader.

Dunno for the iPHone..but for the Blackberry i've had to downgrade.
You have an OS release that hasn't been released by your phone provider, and you need to send it in for maintenance or need to look at it.
I have a Blackberry OS that is released by some phone provider in Asia that's not yet available on Rogers.
Also, there maybe a Beta OS or something that you ahve on your phone which could have some glitches or other issues and you want to downgrade to your old OS.

This downgrading GUI is for those morons who updated their OS and baseband ... once the baseband is updated, yellown0w is killed.
Downgrading your OS is easy and has nothing to do with this baseband downgrader.
