iOS 4.2 coming November 16th?

iPhoneHellas has on good authority that iOS 4.2 will not be coming tomorrow but instead will be launching Tuesday November 16th. The site is known to have solid sources with knowledge of iOS release dates so this November 16th date is probably the actual date. Then again, iOS 4.2 may very well still launch tomorrow. Oh, and where’s iTunes 10.1?
(Air Printing issues for sure)
EDIT: Just found out the baseband was changed in iOS4.2, but mine is still running on previous ver, 02.10.14. I didn't run Tiny Umbrella
"iPhone 3G and iPhone 3G [S] updates to 05.14.02 to 05.15.04.
iPhone 4 updates 02.10.04 to 03.10.01"
For those who want to unlock their IP4 in the future, please run Tiny Umbrella to save your baseband while updating.
EDITx2:
Sick and tired of waiting for the official update of iOS4.2. It's suppose to be here last Monday, 7 days after the GM ver and now it's been possibly pushed back second time.
Used the new Tiny Umbrella, 4.2B3 and was able to update the GF's IP4 to iOS 4.2 and baseband kept at 01.59.00. |

'Splatterhouse' Port For iPhone Releasing Next Week

| Sorry, Apple mobile device users, your first little pre-holidays gift has been delayed. Apple has reportedly canceled today's expected iOS 4.2 release, the controversial one that might or might not be lacking AirPrint. We'd hoped to solve that particular mystery before the weekend, but it seems we'll have to wait a little longer thanks to a serious looking connectivity bug plaguing the iPad. Many users of the Golden Master version of 4.2 reported that a WiFi connection could be established by their devices but, once made, they were unable to actually do anything on the 'net, and not being able to do anything on the 'net is what we like to call a Very Bad Thing. No word on exactly when a new version will be available, but it should still drop within the next few weeks. |

| From the looks of it, Apple will be doing a phased rollout to decrease the load on their servers. OSX 10.6.5 yesterday, iTunes 10.1 today and I've heard from a semi-reliable(ish) source that Wednesday the 17th is the day that they'll push iOS 4.2. |

The Telegraph weighs in: November 24th for iOS 4.2 release

Wow. The Telegraph of all sources is weighing in on the release of 4.2. _They say November 24th_which_would still put Apple within Steve Jobs’ “November” release window for Airplay.
The iOS 4.2 software update had been expected today, but Apple has delayed it release until Nov 24, a reliable source has told the Telegraph.Apple has refused to comment on the speculation, stating only that it had said the software update would be released in November. But a source that works closely with Apple said that the company had shelved its original plan to release the software update today, and had instead pushed back the launch until later this. |

Rare 1976 "Apple I" Computer Up for Auction

Calling all die-hard Apple fanatics. A piece of Apple history is up for grabs. And if you have an extra quarter-million bucks in your sock drawer, that should be more than enough to snag the rare piece of Apple history when it becomes available this month for auction at Christie's.
Here's what's at stake:
Quote:
An Apple-1 motherboard, number 82, printed label to reverse, with a few slightly later additions including a 6502 microprocessor, labeled R6502P R6502-11 8145, printed circuit board with 4 rows A-D and columns 1-18, three capacitors, heatsink, cassette board connector, 8K bytes of RAM, keyboard interface, firmware in PROMS, low-profile sockets on all integrated circuits, video terminal, breadboard area with slightly later connector, with later soldering, wires and electrical tape to reverse, printed to obverse Apple Computer 1 Palo Alto. Ca. Copyright 1976.
The estimated price that the Apple I personal computer will fetch at the auction is somewhere between $160,000-$240,000. So, if you've got the funds and can make the November 23rd auction, this little beauty could be all yours. And when we say it's rare - it is. Only 200 units of this "first personal computer" were ever built. And this one - like the others - were built by hand by Steve Wozniak, Apple's co-founder. Original 1976 price: $666.
Of the aforementioned 200 units of the Apple I, it is believed that fewer than fifty Apple I personal computers still exist. Just over ten years ago at a similar auction, the Apple I fetched a mere $50,000. But Apple - as a company and maker of revolutionary products - is a much bigger, wealthier, and more successful business today than it was a decade ago. As a result, a little piece of history like the Apple I is now a much bigger-ticket item.
To learn more about this relic, check out Christie's official site.
(Wow this thing is older then me .... ) |

I still have the first portable computer (Compaq Portable). I was about to just toss it last year because it was heavy and took up space, until I saw it on eBay for a couple hundred bucks.
Then I checked my three Atari systems... I'm gonna hold on to those! |

Apple removes fake White IP4 from eBay

Although there are still quite a few fake white iPhone 4s on eBay there appears to be less than usual and that is because Apple is working to have them all removed. We have found an e-mail sent to an eBay seller of a black-to-white iPhone 4 conversion unit. Quite frankly, all the “white iPhone 4s” you see on eBay are black-to-white iPhone 4 conversion units as the white iPhone 4 doesn’t exist.

What Apple is apparently doing is quite interesting. They are proving that they don’t want anyone to get their hands-on the seemingly never to be released white iPhone 4 even if they are what they consider counterfeits. What also is interesting is that Apple is claiming the sellers of these “white iPhone 4s” to be infringing Apple’s trademarks. We think some will care that Apple still considers the white iPhone 4 as a product of theirs. |
