So if my girlfriend broke her Telus 3G (which will happen eventually), we could take my spare Rogers 3G, restore it and drop in her SIM and the firmware would lock it to Telus?
If so, that's pretty frickin' sweet.
Yes sir, but the Telus Sim has to be active w/ an account running.
Try it out on your spare unit today, my suggestion is FW 3.1.2 just to be safe. Plus 3.1.3 is a batt killer.

iPhone SMS database hacked in 20 seconds, news at 11
It's a story tailor-made for the fear-mongering subset of news media. This week, a pair of gentlemen lured an unsuspecting virgin iPhone to a malicious website and -- with no other input from the user -- stole the phone's entire database of sent, received and even deleted text messages in under 20 seconds, boasting that they could easily lift personal contacts, emails and your naughty, naughty photos as well. Thankfully for us level-headed souls, those gentlemen were Vincenzo Iozzo and Ralf-Philipp Weinmann, security researchers performing for the 2010 Pwn2Own hacking contest, and their $15,000 first prize ensures that the winning formula will go to Apple (and only Apple) for further study. Last year, smartphones emerged from Pwn2Own unscathed even as their desktop counterparts took a beating, but this makes the third year in a row that Safari's gotten its host machines pwned. That said, there's no need for fear -- just a healthy reminder that the Apple logo doesn't give you free license to click links in those oh-so-tempting "beta-test the new iPad!" emails.

I was just about to post this up, thanks dude!
Indeed, blackrain isn't as smooth as pwnagetool & redsnow. Koodos to Geohomo, let's hope he delays this alittle more before Apple changes the bootrom on those iPads. (Most likely changing the bootrom right now after this video hit the web)
I hope the DevTeam will release their ver in the near future.

UPDATED: 4th Gen iPhone HD to Launch June 22, have Apple chipset, 960×640 display, front-facing camera, multitasking
Daring Fireball often blurs the line between carefully concealed wink-nudge leak and flat out facetious commentary, so with that in mind John Gruber has this to say about the 4th generation iPhone (which still won’t be called iPhone 4G!):
Apple A4-family system-on-a-chip. Nothing on whether that would be the ARM Cortex A9 multicore CPU with brand new PowerVR SGX GPU we’ve been drooling over, however.
960×640 display. That would be bigger than even the bigger DROID Google Android phone, but fit perfectly with the mediocre pixel-doubling announced for current iPhone apps on the iPad’s 1024×768 display.
Front facing camera. Which would mean all those iChat Video rumors we’ve been hearing about forever would finally come true, albeit after the HTC EVO 4G broke the barrier.
3rd party multitasking in iPhone 4.0. Yeah, that one we’ve got covered going way back. Which just don’t know how they’re going to implement it yet?
Again, this could just be Gruber cracking wise at the WSJ’s Verizon-rumoring expense. However, a lot of this might also be considered obvious things Apple “has to do” to stay competitive. Yet Apple hasn’t exactly been pushing the hardware specs since the iPhone 2G back in 2007. Steve Jobs was rumored to have said the next iPhone will be an A+ upgrade. Is the above a good start?
UPDATE: Engadget says they’re hearing it will launch on June 22 and be called the iPhone HD. Hey, that sounds familiar, doesn’t it?
(There you go, all the rumors or confirmed info you wanted)
I'll wait until the official presentation @ WWDC

I got a new replacement phone today since the other one went for a swim.
I got very lucky and got the old bootrom with version 3.1
I just jailbroke using redsOw 0.9.2 and upgraded to 3.1.2.
Should I stay at 3.1.2 or can I get 3.1.3 and jailbreak since I have the old bootrom?

Stay @ 3.1.2 also back up your SHSH file to Cydia or backup your ECID on your comp.
Btw, keep that 3GS dude ... It's like winning the lotto. Regardless when the new blackrain comes out!
My buddy's 3GS freezed up while trying to take a lic today ... He was forced to reboot and you know the rest. Couldn't use his phone all day, and had to wait until he got home.
