Data Plan
iPhone Data Value Pack ver 1 - $20.00

Extreme Messaging
Caller ID
Who Called
Call Manager
Call Forwarding
$17.50 + $20.00 + $2.58 + Tax = $45.29
Had a little talk with a buddy yesterday, found out he signs all of his contracts for pricing & never done a HUP for almost 9 years on Fido.
My last major plan change was in 2008, I wanted the pricing more then the hardware and at the time, nothing was "good" ... so I picked the iPhone3G and that's how it all started. <--- We all know this story very well. (Even from this day, I am man enough still admit failure and apologize for my ignorant / childish behavior in the past.*Hence why I do my very best to help everyone out regarding this subject here*)
Well, this time around was the opposite, I wanted the IP4 more then plan change.
IMO; once you've resigned a contract, always try do a HUP & plan change at the same time. That little window is very important, lots of great plans and packages require you to resign a 3 year contract, many of them are not mindblowing enough to reset your contract agreement. |

I'm sure this has been asked before and I apologize for asking again but:
What is the recommended approach to upgrading a currently jail-broken 3GS to iOS4? I've already backed up my SHSH blobs. Does upgrading to iOS4 wipe the phone completely? In other words, will I lose all the apps/games I currently have installed on the phone with the new install?
Is it as simple as upgrading through iTunes, visiting jailbreakme.com on the phone to JB, and then re-installing all the apps/games?
Thanks! |

No need to apologize here, you're still new and you never ask retarded questions.
1) You should always do a fresh restore with any firmware update. Having previous system files loaded to a new firmware are known to cause issues. Especially in your case right now, you're coming from 3.1.x to iOS4.
2) You've missed the jailbreaking windows for iOS4, currently Apple is only assigning FW 4.0.2 and that can't be jailbroken at this time. Your SHSH blobs are saved for 3.1.x and if you try to load 4.0 & 4.0.1 iTunes won't pass the check.
Sorry dude, you should of jailbroken when those two windows were opened. Personally, I won't be jailbreaking my IP4 this time around, but I did jailbroken it to save my SHSH blobs for 4.0.1. Never know when it's time to you really need. Maybe I'll had back on this path when FaceTime works with 3GUnrestrictor or if I'm travelling and need it unlocked. Who knows ... |

I downloaded iOS 4.0.1 (via Apple's direct links) and I now have the .ipsw file on my PC. Are you saying that if I try to install using this .ipsw file (shift + Restore in iTunes) it will not work? |

Damn.
Alright, thanks for the info man! :)
P.S. is it possible to back-up the e-mail settings on the iPhone? Or will I have to manually note the settings (e.g. write them down)? |

Nope, not when you do a fresh restore. I would just screenshot it and save the pics to your email or desktop. |

Exactly what I am currently thinking.
I'm happy with my legit 3GS (no more jailbraking anymore AFAIK, I can afford the apps and nothing outside apple store is worth it for me), but I see I only have a little over a month window to get 6G for $30.
At this point I don't care about my corporate plan anymore. It looks like I can get comparable out there now.
My plan;
(evenings = 6pm-8am)
Since I can't get 6GB data without getting a 3 year voice plan, I might as well get the new iPhone and sell mine. I'm now looking in redflagdeals to see what's best out there, unless anyone else wants to suggest something (other than the expected sarcasm, lol) |

I would block your number dude, tons of ppl lurking here.
Jailbreaking was never about pirated apps, it's all about lifting those limitations we had or have. For iOS4, I can only think of two limitations @ most and the others are minor issues.
1-Wifi HotSpot
2-FaceTime Over 3G
Yes it's exciting to test them out @ first and then you slowly realize ... there's only maybe 1-7 apps you use everyday and they don't really cost that much. |
