Ugh, so I've totally screwed my new pearl (not flip). A few weeks ago, I dropped it and took it in to telus immediately and they ordered me a refurbished phone. I went to pick it up today and since the time I took it in originally, it's sustained water damage somehow and is now therefore not under warranty.
The phone still works perfectly fine and the screen is half functional (I can see the top half of it, bottom half is busted)
Options are either buy a new phone outright or find a third party to repair/replace the screen - suggestions? How much might a third party charge me? Any other alteratives?
The only options you have are the ones you stated.
1. Repair
2. Buy a new one
Are you under contract? If so how long till it expires? If you are close to the end of the contract you can get a new one for a low price/free if you resign with them.
Call some cell repair places and see what they charge then go to telus and see how much a new phone would be and go with the cheaper alternative. The ty thing with telus/bell is that they are CDMA and not GSM so you can go on ebay /craigslist and try to find a telus phone (one of the reasons im with fido GSM!!)

I have a question...Is there an app that will let me record my DJ sets directly from the mixer? Can I hook up a cable to the headphone port to record or would i have to use the mic?

This is way more advanced than you need, but cool non the less.
Ya, thats a little overkill, just wondering if there is an app. I wonder if it would even work on an iphone

BeeJiveIM 3.0 for iPhone with Push Notification
BeeJive is my IM solution of choice. I don’t use a lot of the more advanced features, but the reason I keep going back to it is just this: speed. It gets me in, working, and back out fast. And BeeJive IM 3.0 with support for iPhone 3.0’s new Push Notification service is no exception. In fact, it rules.
One of the problems with Push Notification is that while the actual alerts are speedy, acting on them is not. Take IM for example. If you enable Text Alerts, an SMS-style popup window presents, tells you the IM app has a new message, and lets you Dismiss or View. If you View, the iPhone then has to 1) close the alert, 2) launch the app, 3) re-establish the app’s server connection (Push Notification uses a different, Apple-powered server), 4) download the IM to the app, and potentially 5) issue the app’s own internal alert if that’s enabled as well.
That can be some overhead. Sure, maybe iPhone 3G S (for speed, remember) will quicken the pace, but BeeJiveIM on an iPhone 3G was impressively responsive already.
Testing it over the last couple days, alerts presented, I tapped them, and everything listed about was handled smoothly and quickly. So, again, I was able to get in, work, and get back out fast. It’s everything that was great about BeeJiveIM 2.0, plus the convenience of Push.
BeeJiveIM 3.0 for iPhone and iPod should be hitting the iTunes App Store any time now. We’ll update with the link as soon as it’s live.
KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK! Since everyone got blacklisted for using the cracked IPAs ... my first paid app :( !
EDIT:
Waiting for MeeBo to come out, then I will decide who's worthy of me paying LOL

Looks like IM+ 3.0 gains way more votes then BeeJive

just received word from Rogers and, well, it’s typically long and complicated so we’ll just give them the floor:
We’ve just announced the details of special Hardware Upgrade savings for our existing iPhone customers and wanted to let you know.
There has been a lot of excitement around the new iPhone 3G S and we wanted to recognize the early adopters who helped make the iPhone the hottest-selling handset in Canadian wireless history. We will be discounting the price of the iPhone 3G S by between $250 and $500 to provide savings to many of our iPhone customers.
What this means is that eligible iPhone owners can acquire the iPhone 16GB 3G S for as low as $199 or the 32GB for as low as $299 until July 31, 2009.
For Fido customers, we’re offering the Fido Rewards iPhone 3G S promotion. This enables iPhone customers to redeem FidoDollars towards a new iPhone 3G S with an additional $100 top-up from Fido.
For customers who don’t qualify for these extra savings, we are pleased to offer Rogers Wireless customers the iPhone at our cost on rogers.com. This cost - $580 for the iPhone 3G, $680 for the iPhone 3G S 16GB and $780 for the iPhone 3G S 32GB – represents the price we pay for the device plus a nominal fee for the SIM card. Customers can access these devices at retail locations for just $19 more for the three devices.
We’re also happy to announce that Rogers and Fido are extending the 6GB/$30 data promotion until July 31. This offer is valid for customers on a new or existing iPhone plan or customers buying an Android-powered HTC Magic or HTC Dream.
Details after the break!

My venture into an iPhone clone went to sh!t. The M89 I got was very buggy, and bricked itself. As it was my replacement for the first one who didn't recharge, my craigslist dealer, Jay (easily found), has been great and offered me a refund. Nice guy. I'm seeing him in the next week.
So now I am looking to see if anyone is upgrading their real iPhone to a faster one.
I'm not looking for 3G, just a cool phone with WiFi. That's all I need. I'm ok with just using hotspots (until data plan prices come down). So if you got an old jailbroken and loaded iPhone or about to upgrade, I may be interested. Prices must be comparible others on cragslist. Thanks!

Just upgraded my iPhone 3G plan adding the 6GB promo plan, and saved $5 a month actually haha.
They had to break up my plan with a separate voice section and data section (I had them bundled), but my voice section is pretty much the exact same. The rep even asked me if I had the 3.0 OS installed and that I am able to do tethering on the network now, so they aren't hiding it which is good.
