I get a kick out of listening to the cops as well. There's an online one here for K-W, and as you can imagine, not very many crazy things go on around here, just funny things lol. The last time I listened to it some guy pulled down his pants on a city bus when the bus stopped, then booked it, so the cops were looking for him LOL. Pretty hardcore here in K-W haha. |

OK everyone try this...
There's a feature in my Scanner 911 that allows you to play the streaming audio in the background while you use other apps. It opens up a URL to play in quicktime. The URL just by itself worked for me independent of the app.
So try this URL in Navigator. You should be able to live stream the Toronto Police Service & EMS stream on your iPhones without the app!

Just get a true police scanner.
I bought one bacccck in my street racing days when the first digital police scanner came out.
But I agree, its good to hear but you need to have all the codes and numbers on lock. But the more you listen the more you know what it means when they ask for your 10-20 or just "twenty" or a 242 or a 415 our side of a club.
One thing that would trip me the out is, they would give someones info over the airway. They would obviously air their DL home address age etc etc and sometimes THEIR ING SOCIAL! I could have ed over so many people by just writing down their social, kinda weird to be honest. :conf: |

No need to get a true police scanner anymore, when anyone with an iphone can have it streamed over 3G in real-time now :D
Yeah, you do hear a lot of personal information, like where they guy they just pulled over lives, full names so you can facebook to see their picture and who they are.
For the codes, the code/help button lists all the codes you hear with their definitions. The code page also changes depending on which police service is selected, and I noticed it varies slightly here in York Region compared to t-dot.
If anyone wants the URL to their region's stream, just let me know, and I'll paste it here. |

The photos of the White unit is a rendering of what could the final product. White faceplate was leaked & the 3 prototypes, who knows if the faceplate is legit.
I'm waiting for WWDC's offical presentation to see if the white ver will be like this. Rememeber, the fool who created this rendering forgot to show the extra mic slot above the ear piece.
All white next-gen iPhone shows up in Hong Kong
Considering the country that these photos were snapped in, we can’t help but hear the words “fake” in the back of our minds, but Apple.pro is claiming what we’re looking at is proof positive that the next-gen iPhone will be available in an all white body. If you look closely at the pics you’ll notice a curiously big gap between the fascia and the aluminum mid-section, but in fairness, that alone is not enough to rule this as fake. Same goes for the holes for screws seen next to the 30-pin dock connector, something we know to be a hallmark of early prototypes. We’ve got one more pic after the jump, but man, wouldn’t it be nice to have such a fresh looking device?

Winterboard #1 Reason for slowdowns
(Reduce lag & save batt life)
I had a two of my 3G units side by side and compaired them to see whats causing the JB unit to be slower, compaired to the legit ver.
After some serious testing ... installing Cydia apps one by one to pinpoint the problem.
The answer is "Winterboard" any type of wallpapers, themes, logos and icons will slow it down. (Remove Winterboard and see for yourself - testing speed enter settings & count)
Yes I know, the main purpose of JB is modding the appearance of your iPhone. I've figured this out from the helps of everyone here, who reported slowdowns from themes and the recent Spirit problem w/ batt drains on the 3Gs
PS: Also minimize your mobilesubstrate extentions, more you have the more lag you will get over time. |

Apple “saddened and upset” and investigating recent suicides at Foxconn
As manufacturer Hon Hai/Foxconn opens their facilities for an unprecedented media tour in the wake of a growing number of worker suicides, Apple has issued the following statement:
“We are saddened and upset by the recent suicides at Foxconn. We are in direct contact with Foxconn senior management and we believe they are taking this matter very seriously. A team from Apple is independently evaluating the steps they are taking to address these tragic events and we will continue our ongoing inspections of the facilities where our products are made.”
In addition to Apple, Dell, HP, and others are also looking into conditions at the Shenzhen, China based manufacturer.
