Samsung Galaxy S Gingerbread update pulled 'by Google,' needs a little more work
Come on, this is Samsung we're talking about here -- you didn't think a software update from Korea's leading smartphone maker would go without a hitch, did you? The Gingerbread build that made its way out to European Galaxy S handsets over the weekend has now been halted, on account of an unspecified issue that has been identified after release. Vodafone reports that it's Google who's actually responsible for temporarily suspending the Android 2.3 delivery over Kies, although the problem is apparently not universal -- Voda's Galaxy S devices are said to be unaffected, which is why the carrier's working hard to get things rolling again as soon as possible. Oh Samsung, when will it end?
(Forgot to post this the other day - 2nd firmware update Samsung had to pull from the Galaxy S)

Ugh...
I checked out the white iPad and it's just as ugly as the white iPhone...
But each to his own...
I'm pretty sure I'll get one (black of course) when we move into our new house and set it up as a home controller...
Should be cool...

Apple stealthily recording, storing GPS position of iPhone, 3G iPad users [video]
Several researchers at O?Reilly have discovered an extremely troubling feature of iPhones and 3G iPads running Apple?s iOS 4. In a blog post and accompanying video, the site details that Apple is storing the GPS coordinates of cellular iDevices locally, in an unencrypted and unprotected file. ?Ever since iOS 4 arrived, your device has been storing a long list of locations and time stamps,? reads the post. ?We?re not sure why Apple is gathering this data, but it?s clearly intentional, as the database is being restored across backups, and even device migrations.? O?Reilly goes on to note that along with a list of timestamped GPS coordinates, the file also contains a list of Wi-Fi access points that the affected device has been in range of. ?Anybody with access to this file knows where you?ve been over the last year, since iOS 4 was released,? the brief continues. The file in question ? named consolidated.db ? is present in the backup file created when syncing a cellular iOS device with iTunes, and, obviously, on the iOS device itself. ?Why this data is stored and how Apple intends to use it ? or not ? are important questions that need to be explored,? writes the team. Apple?s security team did not respond to O?Reilly?s request for comment. The video made by the researchers is after the break.

By using any location-based services on your iPhone, you agree and consent to Apple?s and its partners? and licensees? transmission, collection, maintenance, processing and use of your location data and queries to provide and improve such products and services. You may withdraw this consent at any time by going to the Location Services setting on your iPhone and either turning off the global Location Services setting or turning off the individual location settings of each location-aware application on your iPhone. On another note, I read there is an app you can get and it records audio and takes pictures when you leave your phone unattended in your office and what not.

Heh, so I went like 500MB over my 6GB limit last month. Awesome.
Microsoft has released an amazing panorama app, Photosynth for iPhone users. This free app is different because it capture panoramas in all directions, and create some awesome interactive images. Once images are captured, they can be shared easily via Facebook and Bing Maps, plus panoramas are also hosted for free.
As described by the Bing blog:
Using the latest computer vision technology, the Photosynth app makes capturing panoramas fun and engaging, while creating sharp, high-resolution results. With the app, you can process, view, and store your panoramas directly on your device. Then, share them in a variety of ways, including to Facebook as images or as interactive panoramas (hosted for free) on Photosynth.net.
Here’s the app description:
Photosynth for iOS is the panorama creation and sharing app that lets you capture more of your world. Now you can capture 360° in all directions (up, down, left, and right) to create spectacular images. Using the latest in computer vision techniques, Photosynth makes it easy and fun to create and share interactive panoramas of wherever you are.
Photosynth can share images and interactive panorama experiences to Facebook (with the included free Photosynth.net service). Integration with Bing Maps means millions of people could see your panoramas on maps and in search results for locations you’ve captured.
Photosynth – Capture More
Features:
• See your panorama take shape as you capture them with INTERACTIVE CAPTURE
• Look and capture in all directions with FULL-SPHERE PANORAMAS
• See the final panorama right away with fast ON-DEVICE PROCESSING
• Sharp, high-resolution results with the ADVANCED IMAGE STITCHING ENGINE
• Panoramas are always available to view and share from the ON-DEVICE LIBRARY
• Zoom, pan, stretch, and view in landscape or portrait with our IMMERSIVE VIEWER
• Save as many panoramas as you want and view them online at PHOTOSYNTH.NET
Sharing:
• Share to Facebook with images or interactive panoramas
• Share to Bing Maps to see your panoramas throughout Bing
• Your panorama images are available to any app from the Camera Roll
I tested out Photosynth quickly, and the app is pretty cool. You don’t even need to press a shutter button–all you do is just move your screen to the next shot and it’ll automatically capture. I can’t wait to put this to the test this summer.

Blackberry Playbook - Web Test with Flash Video
I was at Staples today, looked over and saw the Playbook Demo. Totally forgot it launched yesterday, so might as well give it a shot and test the web experince on my skate site.
Please disregard the moronic Staples rep talking to the clueless businessman behind me.
Businessman> What is he doing?
Staples> Looks like he has an iPhone and I really don't know what's he's doing.
Video Cuts
Staples> Looks like he's an Apple spy <--- ing gay
Me> *Looks at the businessman* You better try it before you buy it
Businessman> Oh I will *annoyed face*
Me> Good luck.

It's expected to pass the 6GB limit with Personal Hotspot and Tethering enabled
I've hit 4.5GB (Final Count) without any of these functions before.
Anyone else got this alert with the new FaceBook App?
