If Samsung gonna push this device globally, there's gonna be many diff vers to work with all the diff carriers around the world. There's up to 25+ diff LTE networks around the world and many are on diff bands, crazy.

Apple is gonna be doing the same with their LTE phone in the future also, I have a feeling that's not gonna be for a while until LTE has large coverage map for all carriers.

EXCLUSIVE: We get the allegedly proper Nexus Prime specs

Today is a busy day for Nexus Prime - it's been all over the news more than twice. Just hours earlier, we told you about a 'trusted source' who told BGR the phone's key specifications. Well, they may turn out to be completely and utterly wrong.
We were contacted by a tipster from inside Google, who claims to be familiar with the next Nexus phone and he basically put the previously speculated specs to sleep. As usual, tips like these are to be taken with a pinch of salt, but for now we're buying what this guy's selling. What you are about to read is quite dazzling.
According to our source, the device codenamed Nexus Prime is going to ship with Samsung's own chipset, probably the Exynos, with a blazingly fast dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. But wait, there's more.
On that chipset will also reside a powerful dual-core GPU from Imagination. We suspect it's going to be the PowerVR SGX543MP2, or in other words, the same GPU found in the iPad 2 (and quite probably on the iPhone 4S as well).
On the back, instead of the 5-megapixel snapper, our source claims, there's an 8-megapixel, full 1080p HD video-shooting camera with some sort of an improved sensor. As for the battery, expect a 2050mAh one (do we hear a whoa?), which should be good for a couple of days use without charging.
The Nexus Prime will also be LTE-enabled, but the most interesting part is that it would probably boast a dual-mode GSM/CDMA radio, just like the Apple iPhone 4S.
All those specifications sound almost too nice to be true, but keeping in mind the advertisement for the Nexus Prime, prompting us that "something BIG is coming", we won't be surprised if all of these purported specs turn out to be real.
What we do know for sure is that the head-turning 4.65-inch, 1280x720 pixels screen is definitely a go. Whatever the truth might be, we'll definitely find out on October 11, which is just a few days from now.
Which specifications list sound more plausible to you?

Rogers device reservation list for the iPhone 4S goes live @ 6am sharp.

1) If you are able to HUP to the IP4S @ subsidize pricing and you are gonna use it @ it's full potential, go for it.

2) Keep in mind; the next gen iPhone will be a redesign, given from Apple's pattern of device history and you won't be able to use your HUP again.

For those who can't upgrade or want to stay on the iPhone 4 (to save the HUP for the next gen), this is no lie and many can confirm what I'm telling you is true. The recent build of iOS5 GM loaded on the IP4 is ultra buttery! The IP4 runs better then ever, even better then any ver of iOS4. I've found some minor "snapshot" cache glitches, but I hope Apple will iron this little bug out and not ruin the performance in the public ver. Another strange thing I've found, iMessage scanning is 1/4 sec on Rogers and 3 secs on Fido. Even though both are running on the new carrier build 11, I think Fido results are affected by the APN change fix from last July.

For the 3GS and iPad1, iOS5 beta 4-7 was horrfic. The 3GS suffered insane batt drain, standby was only 3 hours max and it got very HOT. The iPad had freezing and stalling with most OEM apps. I'll post up the results of those two devices on iOS5 GM sometime this weekend.

Here is the new list that you'll see when you go to a pic. Notice the TWEET option. It doesn't list an option to upload a video to twitter though which sucks, but can be added in a future update. When you go to a video, it only lists Email, MMS Message & YouTube

The new Twitter functionality in iOS5. You can only upload 1 pic at a time directly to Twitter's Photobucket native host. You can add/it supports multiple Twitter accounts though, which it very important.

Samsung and Google delay launch of Ice Cream Sandwich/Nexus Prime out of respect for Jobs

Earlier today, Samsung and Google announced that they would be canceling a previously-scheduled event set for Tuesday at which the companies were planning to introduce the Nexus Prime, the first handset to run Google's latest "Ice Cream Sandwich" version of Android.

Samsung and Google decide to postpone the new product announcement at CTIA Fall. We agree that it is just not the right time to announce a new product. New date and venue will be shortly announced.

Speculation immediately turned to the possibility that the companies delayed the launch out of respect for Steve Jobs, who passed away on Wednesday, although the companies did not offer an explanation for the event cancelation.

AllThingsD now reports that Samsung and Google did indeed cancel the event due to Jobs' death, feeling that the launch would be inappropriate given the mourning process still going on throughout the tech industry and the world.
The decision to postpone things was made late last night at the top levels of both companies, sources said, with Jobs’ death being the reason. There are no delays with the product itself, sources insisted.

For its part, Apple has continued with its launch plans for the iPhone 4S, introducing the device on Tuesday even as company executives likely knew that Jobs' passing was imminent. Pre-orders for the iPhone 4S began early today as scheduled, with availability set for next Friday, October 14th in the initial batch of launch countries.

Android apps on your iPad? There’s an app for that!

Android apps running on your iPad? Alien Dalvik makes it possible.

In case you’re not familiar with Alien Dalvik, it’s a port of the Dalvik virtual machine, which is the software layer in Google’s Android operating system responsible for executing Android apps. According to SlashGear, the Myriad Group (the brains behind the Alien Dalvik project) announced support for Apple’s iPad in Alien Dalvik version 2.0.

As a result, the unimaginable (even unholy) becomes possible: You’ll be able to download, install and run Android software on your Apple-branded tablet. Alien Dalvik wraps each Android app file in its own virtual machine so it kinda feels as if you were running a native iPad app. The Myriad Group explains:

From a user perspective, Alien Dalvik 2.0 is completely transparent and installed without user disruption. Users simply enjoy the same rich Android ecosystem they have become accustomed to via mobile on other key screens, such as playing Angry Birds on HDTV. This all while gaining faster access to a wider range of apps, thus encouraging a higher frequency of downloads and increased ARPU.

We assume performance isn’t comparable to the experience of running native iOS apps on an iPad 2 and we’re surely expecting some hiccups and likely compatibility issues. With that in mind, this development begs the question: Why would you want to run Android apps on your iPad?

Apple’s iOS software boss Scott Forstall said at Monday’s iPhone 4S introduction that about 140,000 out of the 500,000 apps available on the App Store have been specifically created with iPad in mind. Android apps also aren’t as pretty or delightful as their iOS counterparts. But the fact that most are either free or ad-supported should mean something so we expect some folks will give Alien Dalvik a try. Stay tuned as the team promised to show off Alien Dalvik 2.0 running third-party Android apps on iPad 2 at CTIA 2011 next week.

I have the 3GS, called Fido, and they told me I had to wait february to get the HUP price, or pay a 200$ penalty to break my contract.

I explained to the dude that it didn't make sense to make me pay 200$ because I have to wait about 4 months.

He then offered me a 5$ rebate over the course of 36 months + 35$ on the first bill (total 215$), to cancel out the 200$ penalty.

I reserved the 32G/B :D

One Reason why the 3.5" screen still works

The iPhone screen has remained at 3.5 inches since its debut back in 2007. Why hasn’t this increased when competitor screens have continued to grow larger and larger?

Dustin Curtis compares the advantages of his former 3.5 inch iPhone screen compared to the 4.27 inches on his new Samsung Galaxy S II:

Touching the upper right corner of the screen on the Galaxy S II using one hand, with its 4.27-inch screen, while you’re walking down the street looking at Google Maps, is extremely difficult and frustrating. I pulled out my iPhone 4 to do a quick test, and it turns out that when you hold the iPhone in your left hand and articulate your thumb, you can reach almost exactly to the other side of the screen. This means it’s easy to touch any area of the screen while holding the phone in one hand, with your thumb. It is almost impossible to do this on the Galaxy S II.

Any screen larger than 3.5 inches, and you run into the problems of whether your device is a smartphone, or a medium-sized tablet. The Dell Streak is the perfect example of a confused device. This isn’t a problem if you have massive hands, though.

(The size of the IP4 is still the best, having a larger display would be nice, but it kills the form factor. *Unless the screen runs edge to edge, but that's gonna look strange.* 4"+ screens are just way to big, placing it in your jean pockets won't work and some ppl like me, struggle to hold it in one hand even.)

That's a retarded argument. Sure it may work for him and other people who have relatively the same length in thumb, but that like saying smaller buttons work with people who have smaller fingers and can type better.

Besides, depending on how you hold the S2 or the Sensation, you can use your thumb to move across the end of the edge of the screen by holding it like your picking it up.

I'd post a picture but honestly, there are other ways on holding a phone which can make the screen just as usable that what this guy is talking about.

What an idiot.
