Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.3.1 Demonstrated [Video]
I0n1c has demonstrated a working untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.1. Previously, i0n1c also demonstrated the same untether working on iOS 4.3. Below you can read his description of the video and his plans for release.
In the video you can see how I switch off the iPod, then restart it, show the version, show that it is tethered and has the multitasking gestures, i show that you can buy ringtones and then I show cydia and the ninja jump game from last time.
Because several people misunderstood me in the past:
a. I repeatedly stated that I will not release a jailbreak tool - I will only give out the untether. I did not try yet, but if it is feasible the untether could be a cydia package.
b. While the vulnerability I use is in the iPad 2 kernel my untether will NOT SUPPORT the iPad 2, because there is no way to install it there (bootrom exploits fixed). - however Comex is working on that part.
c. I am not giving out any ETA again, because the Jailbreak community is simply nuts. Last time I gave an ETA and even before that had passed I got constantly insulted by people that were demanding an immediate release. Sorry guys the more you insult people with the knowledge to actually do what YOU WANT the less motivation there is to use our free time to give it to you.
d. The only reason why I did not finish the untether before the ETA was due to unexpected work overload in my real job. It had nothing todo with the untether being too hard or unreal.
e. I don't know why the dev team has not released a redsn0w that does tethered jailbreak for 4.3.1 - I would prefer that to be available, cause sn0wbreeze obviously does not work 100% yet.
f. If you want to learn more about iPhone kernel hacking/exploitation you should come to SyScan Singapore at the end of April. http://syscan.org/index.php/sg/program
We'll keep you up to date with information on the upcoming jailbreak for iOS 4.3.1. It is still recommended to wait on upgrading to iOS 4.3.x until an 'official' jailbreak and mobilesubstrate update is released.

God damn, Amazon just beat Apple w/ their cloud base player and race is over.
It doesn't matter who first, what matters is who does it the best.

BlackBerry Messenger for iPhone available April 26th?
few weeks ago rumours were that RIM will be expanding their BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) app past BlackBerry devices and have it available to Android and iOS devices. If and when BBM will be implemented on other platforms it won’t be the full experience that BlackBerry users love but a stripped down version.
The Android BBM app is expected to be released sometime this year but a release on the iPhone is still unknown. However, another fresh rumour is brewing over at MacRumours of an April 26th release of the BlackBerry Messenger for iPhone. Apparently RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie was in Toronto today speaking at an event where he off-handed announced the app will be available for download in the App Store on April 26th (Thursday), then an update to follow in the Summer with a new “notification system”.
“RIM had a Social Media conference today in Toronto, and my entire college business and marketing class was invited to the event. RIM’s co-ceo Jim Balsillie revealed that they plan to bring BBM and “other services” to iPhone on April 26 via the app store. Major news networks are expected to pick up on this very soon! Balsillie also revealed that they plan to release an update to the app this summer which will take advantage of a new “notification system”!!!”

Nice... I can finally use it again. I just wonder how much RIM will charge for it. It is just to bad that Apple didn't come out with their own version of BBM. They have enough iPhone/iPod/iPad users out there. I wonder if they will make a Mac version also.

You don't need BBM, most carriers have unlimited nation wide & international SMS / MMS services now. Even with Whatsapp, Kik and all those lame ass IM apps on the iPhone, I never use them. Only HeyWire and TextPlus are useful, they create a gateway for you to SMS over data to a mobile number back and forth.
A long time ago, BB didn't thread their SMS and that made everything confusing to stay on track with a conversation. This forced everyone to use BBM for IM.
Even my Treo 600 made in 2003 threaded the SMS, it was their plan all a long.
Treo 600 (Minus the Gay Pink)
BB 9000 (Threaded SMS APP)

You should see Android's app collection ... yikes.
It's too bad Apple is so damn strict w/ their SDK, i would build one app that would blow your mind. :(

Anyone can register as a developer and get the SDK, they just seem to be very clandestine about their approval process. I'll be co-developing something kinda sweet with my brother in Q2, we'll see how it turns out.

You're right.. There's a million absolutely useless fart apps on the app store, but the iOS environment is still the easiest to develop and deploy in by a ing country mile. If you can check out the front page of the iTunes app store once a week, you're sure to catch a few impressive goodies. :)

What I want to create, is forbidden in their SDK rules.
