At a time when decentralization is becoming more popular in technology, this was bound to happen.

With all of Apple's iCloud running out of one data center, it is only a mater of time before it strikes Apple as well.

Google has a few data centers, but not many. We have suffered a few gmail outages this year alone.

Give me a break.....if you had a multi million dollar deal, you use a laptop and have something called email on it as well.

Its kinda insulting TBH ...

They should fork out the refund of the time BIS went down. As a service provider; when there's a "Network Interruption", regardless how much it is the refund is the lest they can do. Doesn't matter how much it's is; $5.00 or $1.00 of actual down time. It's the principle and protocol of being a service provider. Most providers will credited your bill for the entire month.

Example: My Internet goes down, Bell offers me free magazine subscriptions. That doesn't do anything for me.

RIM most likely twisted these app devs to give these apps for free, since they're not "selling"._
IMO, they should credit you back and give you 1-2 months of BIS complimentary service. I wouldn't settle for less and this is why ppl pay so much for their phone bills.

Remember Rim’s niche is the enterprise market, business is business and they should take this matter seriously.

iCloud has gone down in the past, but it doesn't paralyze the users. Apple has split the entire iCloud infrastructure between the three massive data centers. Things will be ok when it goes down, you have the other data centers as back up and only certain functions wont be able to sync. The data that's previously synced and loaded on your device will still be there.

Plus it's not a service provider, we'll still be able to go online for other things.

That one time iCloud had a down time, it was just the back up servers and they're we're tweaking it for something.

It's not RIM's perogative to credit BIS, if that was going to happen it would have to be done at the carrier level. Which, as you've said, only takes a phone call. While I'm not a fan of any of the apps they're giving away and won't download them myself, I still think the gesture deserves kudos.

RIM also has backup servers, unfortunately though, it's impossible to account for every single variable and they too went down. It could happen to apple and google as well.

How aren't they taking it seriously?

For sure the OP argument was tongue and cheek... but really, execs rarely open their laptops... and usually use the phone alot, while bbing/emailing their team for back channel advice.:p

Dude, it was a joke, calm down. Do you work for RIM or something?

On a serious note, they ed up international business, and government dealings for 3 days. That is fact.

Just like when gmail goes down, productivity at my company suffers large.
