I do have a little concern about 4.1 (next week) & 4.2 (November) ... Maybe it's me, but I don't recall Apple confirming any release dates of iOS future updates like this. They normally confirm "coming soon" or something a long the lines.
I have a strong feel it's to stop the Dev Team working on jailbreaks, since the update gaps are so close together. I haven't heard anything since 4.1 GM build came out, let's hope it's soon though. I also have a strong feeling the new bootrom for the 3GS's are gonna be affected again. (The pain never ends for you guys and I'm so sorry for all the suffering.)

Apple's newest baseband engineer seems to be working hard on stopping the Dev Team efforts with Ultrasnow.

Heads up from the little bird I know, Telus's HSPA+ networks are suffering from SMS delays. Some odd happened last night and SMS delivery time has been sketchy since. Next issue, Fido's IP4s are still messed up with data connections in iOS4.1 GM build. Carrier update version is now running @ 8.0 and the bugs from 4.0.x are still there.
-Data Connection is lost "out of the blue." (Switching airplane mode on / off will resolve this issue. Do NOT reboot)
-VVM resets to factory defaults and you have to setup everything again. (If you reboot)
It's indeed a software issue, since Rogers and Fido's networks are one unified network. This problem does not happen on Roger's IP4s, but the only symptom I've seen is retrieving & recording custom VVM greetings.

Apple's control over the UI and iOS are paramount to why the user experience is what it is. :)
Also, has anyone not caught on that Dev team actually works with Apple?

If it's open source, there's a lot of great and evil things to come. The bad side of it, anyone can make an app and sell it ... regardless how ty it is. Plus, a few Andriod apps out there are stealing ppl's data and money with some hidden API embedded within the app.
I use to bitch and complain about Apple's controlling, but as you can see ... we came a long way from 1.0-2.0. They do listen and add most of the things we need in the updates, it just takes a little time. In the end, look how slick the new functions are? Copy & Paste is mind-blowing, multitasking is retardedly good and blah blah blah
The restrictions with 3G data all this time is to save the carriers from burning down. The iPhones uses so much data, more then any other devices and look how many ppl have them now.
I totally understand both sides of the battle; I'm about 90% on Apple's side for their reasons of limiting things ... but sometimes I do have to disagree with their too. Example; slowing down the 3G to force everyone to buy the IP4 was uncalled for. They didn't need to do that; regardless of what unit ppl have at the time. Once you hold the IP4 in your hands, hit the home button to power it up and slide to unlock that sucker ... it's already confirmed you want it. The first reaction to the Retina display, the performance speed and the design ... it's really overwhelming.

Could be very possible, I don't doubt that at all and both sides would benefit from this cat & mouse game.
Just like Xbox and their homebrew community back in the days, Microsoft learned and stole so much ideas to improve the next hardware and software updates.
Apple in this case stole tons of stuff from the Cydia community and made it even better.
